Very good hotel. My only issue is the UNSAFE surface of the tiles in the pool area. A non-slip finish is a MUST improvement. Food excellent throughout our visit. While the internet was satisfactory, the requirement to re-engage the room link was a bit of a nuisance. Fix the poolside tiling and it could be 10/10.
Superb- other reviews are scaremongering We are currently staying here and this is our 2nd visit to Bitacora. We came last August but there was still a lot of restrictions in place etc. The hotel is back in full swing with activities/entertainment etc. ‘The sickness bug’ well all I can say is we haven’t seen or heard anything about it- was worried before we came after reading reviews but if I’m honest a lot of it sounds like holiday insurance claims after people were spotted by the pool/bar when apparently ‘sick as a dog’ in their rooms! What is evidently apparent is that post pandemic people have forgotten about hygiene and cleanliness. Several occasions I saw in the buffet adults using their hands (plenty of tongs available), kids touching food/licking it and putting it back, kids not being supervised by adults and most not using the sanitiser available in the Resturant. Additionally a tone of adults not washing their hands after using the toilet- like seriously? Basic hygiene principle! No wonder people got sick or a bug spread. The hotel is spotlessly clean, additional staff doing touch points, pool area cleaned everyday along with hotel areas. Rooms also very clean- if you want your sheets changed everyday you only have to ask or leave the card out? But who has their sheets changed everyday at home anyway? 🤷🏼♀️ Food choices are excellent both at the buffet or pool bar- pool bar has two menus more fast food type food on the touch screens and an ‘a la carte’ menu at the bar to eat in or takeaway to the pool. Drink choices are excellent and include premium spirits/cocktails. You MUST try a Barraquito (coffee/brandy and condensed milk) a Tenerife traditional drink. Subbed situation- ok here goes… we were a party of 7 (4 adults, 2 teenagers and an 8 year old) and everyday we managed to get loungers all together. What was evident is that if you want a lounger by the kids pool/slides you are going to get up early to secure this. There isn’t many beds in that area but if you are adamant you want to sit there so you don’t have to go in the pool with your little cherubs then be prepared for an early start. If like us you aren’t fussed where you sit then you’ll be fine. Staff are very super friendly and the mini club team are fantastic. Lots of activities during the day- the foam party in the main pool was an absolute highlight! Rooms- all have a mini fridge, hair dryer, safe, plenty of sockets, comfortable and a good size too overall. All rooms have balcony and if I’m honest I’m not sure the extra for a pool view is worth it. Lots saying the evening entertainment was too loud for the little ones trying to sleep in those rooms. Each to their own though. Short distance to the main drag ‘the golden mile’ and Veronica’s strip (although lots of reports of spiking/theft there so be cautious). Lots of bars, supermarkets and shops open till 10pm. Several mini golf courses too and of course we had to hunt down TiKTok star ‘very good very nice’ for a video (he was on the golden mile). 15-20 min walk into los Cristianos. Overall take the reviews with a pinch of salt, I’m honest and fussy- if this place was terrible I’d say but I honestly couldn’t find any fault with it. Just a bunch of moaning Minnie’s wanting champagne lifestyle on lemonade money if I’m honest. Enjoy you won’t be disappointed.…
My husband and I booked this hotel last minute. We have stayed many times but not for years usually staying at Vulcano but we decided to give the Up terrace a try at Bitacora. Since we stayed previously the hotel has gone through considerable upgrading and renovation. We are aware that it is now a hotel geared for families but in December the hotel was quiet. We booked directly with the hotel and we chose a pool view room, we were allocated floor 6. It was really quiet and we were able to sleep, make use of balcony and relax as we wished. The room was very clean and we had good service from housekeeping. The staff on reception were friendly, efficient and happy to help. The staff in the dining room were attentive, friendly and hardworking. We enjoyed the variety of food and ate in the hotel more than we had intended. The Up terrace was fantastic, very comfortable loungers, lovely cocktails, snacks and again superb staff made it a really chilled holiday. We will definitely return and now prefer the hotel to sister hotel, Vulcano. …
just back from this Hotel after a week with family of 6 adults, a nearly 5 year old child and one 18 month child, and all I can say is we had a ball. The kids loved it and had best time ever, its great for children with plenty for them to do and keep amused, staff were great with them. Welcomed by reception who put us all on the same floor which was handy, staff always greet you with a smile and very helpful, hotel is spotless, food great, no problems getting sunbeds together. We all agreed that this is one hotel we would go back to.
This was appalling behaviour of Bitacora… no notification tho’ the tables and chairs were removed from outdoor area on Saturday and works began on Monday 21/11/22… no notification no apology…. had paid extra for pool view NOT a construction site with associated noise from 08.30-15.30 daily.. unable to use balcony as works directly below our room..
Came here in end of November with the hotel being at one of its quietest. Lots going on throughout the day with different various activities with a good atmosphere. Everyone gets involved with bringing you into different games whether it be in the pool or outside.
Great hotel. Had massive refurbishment over recent covid enforced shutdown. excellent for families with younger kids, not so much for teen set. We had originally booked the sister hotel Vulcano, but due to unforeseen circumstances had to change booking to hotel Bitacora. My wife had recently been diagnosed with early cancer which caused the rescheduled booking. The hotel kindly assigned 2 excellent pool view rooms on 6th floor with additional extras. Many thanks. Easy access for mobility issues. Restaurant excellent with plenty of choice breakfast and evening meals. Minor comment- the Jam/marmalade dispensers seemed to always need refilling, maybe because there were no visible levels (not a complaint, just a helpful comment ) Pool area - always able to get 3 sunbeds after breakfast in adult only area. Evening entertainment- not great, seemed mostly karaoke. Did not greatly bother us, we went out to local bars. Pool bar snacks- only tried once, not impressed. Hot dogs and chips were cold. Mostly had lunchtime snacks in local bar Brahms & List. recommended. Be careful using sunbeds backing on to small waterfalls pool. One extra-large guy used the full force back massage jet which gave everyone behind an extra morning cold shower. Had great holiday, staff were excellent especially reception staff.…
Excellent family holiday. Hotel is spacious and clean, staff work tirelessly day and night. Food excellent and lots of choice. We didn’t experience any issues with the sunbeds. Pools were spacious and the fumes were great for the kids! Our only suggestion would be to consider opening up the relax pool to all. Adults could use the UP and the relax pool would give the families and children an alternate option. 5 stars from us and will definitely be back! If you’re looking for a familiar orientated hotel then don’t hesitate!!
I’m a seasoned traveller and this is a lovely hotel. Very clean. Rooms spacious and clean. Food plentiful and varied. Great position for everything needed. Just lovely. And we never had an issue with sunbeds!
Excellent hotel lots to do for my 3 grandkids who range from ages 7 to 14. The food was good with plenty of choice at every meal. The bedrooms were comfortable and spacious. The staff on reception were fantastic nothing was any bother to them what ever we asked for was sorted straight away. Couldn’t find any faults whatsoever with this hotel
