We booked the Alexander room, that comes with a nespresso coffee machine and free pass to the spa.
The room was at the same level with the reception overlooking the pool. Was really convenient as we have a toddler and we could easily walk anywhere with the stroller. The coffee machine comes with three complimentary pots, tea and milk. I bought few more for about 0,50e each.
The fridge costs 25e to use it, comes with 18 items that you choose and it’s not a bad price at all.
The room is super super clean! Thank you amazing ladies for clanging service you do an excellent job!! But is a bit on the small size! There is a big wardrobe and you must put everything inside so you can have a bit space to move around the room. The balcony is good size with a table and a couple of chairs. The rooms temperature is fine and when we asked for extra blankets they offered us a heating fan but we didn’t need it. It was just one day a bit chilly.
The pool was ok, we have to give a deposit of 12e for each towel plus 1,8e if you need a fresh one. The towels are in a really bad shape and need to be replaced ASAP!!! It’s a shame for this hotel and this spa to have towels like these.
The Spa is really good. With sauna dry and wet, four different showers, a jacuzzi and a good size pool. We and our friends had few treatments and massage therapies. The ladies were all very professional and kind. We definitely recommend to spend few euros there!
We had half board. Breakfast and dinner. It was not so much about the quantity but the quality! Every night there was a different theme , Italian, Spanish, Asian, Mexican etc. We all are satisfied about the food options. The quality of the food, the way it was cooked was more like a home made food rather than a hotel’s one.
Big applause for the chef! Thank you for the extra couple of pounds we brought back with us! Lol! We loved all paeya and risotos, the lamp the rabbit, the fish! The calamari! Thank you:)
The entertainment team is a beautiful bunch of people! Every night something different. We enjoyed it! Gabriella from the kids club is so lovely and the kids loved her and asking for her.
The receptionist normal happy smiling people! Always there to help:)
We rent a car from the hotel, all good! No problems:)
The hotel location is the best! In five minutes you are by the sea, and you can walk by the seashore to Playa de la vista, Playa lots Christianos etc
In conclusion I don’t understand how people have one star to this hotel! We could definitely recommend it! And we would love to go back sooner than later:)
Thank you , all the people who work there ,for making our holidays unforgettable:)
We did not stay for the entertainment but seemed to have plenty for the people that stayed in hotel in the evening. Only fault was only one bar person on sometimes in the evening so a long time to be served.
Plenty of sun beds and seating around the pool and the same saving beds in a morning with a few staying unused till the afternoon but this did not bother us. Spa area is great and very relaxing and nice that it was in the price.
Very good location for the beach and shops and although very near to the Veronica's bars we heard no noise at night.
All in all a very nice clean and friendly hotel and I cannot understand the bad reviews at all
my son and we were told we had to have the basic double that we had booked for my son. reception staff member was very abrupt with me when i said we would just swap room told me "no" "insurance policy" and told us go look at the double room if we didn't like it we could upgrade for €220.
i tried to explain that this was not correct but was just told to contact my travel agent at home . anyway room was dark out dated and on the noisy road site obviously i wasnt going to take it so had to hand over the extra money after less than 30 mins in hotel. finally got my pool view room which was clean and very modern.just wasn't happy about the extra cost.
so the hotel it self very nice . all areas were clean and well presented.
Christmas decs were nice . but as for Christmas atmosphere this was very flat. very international guests and didnt seem to celebrate Christmas like the britts would .
food well .. . we were half board . a fair choice at breakfast fresh juices and two coffee tea machines cooked breakfast well have had better the sausage were grey in colour and very unappetizing. and the beans were hard and watery .All the jams ,marmalades tasted the same. but plenty of croissants and pastries to choose from which were quite nice.
evening meals were never hot which i know is a thing in spain food was again good choices but all bland and unappetizing. all the cakes looked nice very colourful but bland and just made from the same tasteless cream filling. the special Christmas buffett they put on did not suit our taste lots of fish so we eat out at a near by steak restaurant which was beautiful and very reasonable priced.
pk.now the pools main pool was Baltic and you at all plus it was so deep you couldn't touch the floor which as I'm not a confident swimmer this was abit frightening for me . The second pool was only up to your waist deep very shallow so you couldn't really swimming that either. sunbeds plenty of them plus they had a few nice quiet areas with soft leather seats that you could also sunbathe on.
so that ahonest review of our stay at the gala really thought 10 days away in the sun celebrating Christmas would be really special nope loved the sun but no atmosphere at all not one single staff member wished you merry Christmas and as very few britts in hotel guests didn't either. in fact we had Christmas tops on for breakfast and got some very discerning looks.
so my scores are as follows
hotel cleanliness 10/10
location 10/10
food & service 3/10
pools 4/10
staff friendliness 2/10.
we are a family who love tenerife and visit once a year but won't be rushing back to hotel gala
the location of the hotel was for us fab very close to the shops and bars and restaurants and the beaches.
so food id give a 4 out of 10.
pool area
Everything at this hotel is done to budget, from food, drinks and entertainment. Foer example small bottle of water at dinner is 2.5 Euro, yet the 10 litre across the road is 1.5 euro.
The staff at the restaurant can speak English but choses to speak Spanish, particularly those with burgundy shirts that add to stress of communication.
The room cleaning is a 10 minute job with no bedding change, no signs for no disturb on the door or to request change of towels and bedding. There was marks on towels and bed over throw that remained there all week. The floor is swept lightly. This is not what we expect from 4 stars hotel and indeed there are 3 stars hotels in the area that are cleaner within their room service.
This hotel is not cheap, yet the food at the hotel is just warm and needed to be heated in the microwave, including the hot water from the dispensing machine if you wanted your tea hot. All food ingredients are cheap to cut cost.
There is pressure on loungers as the hotel has a shade in the morning with only on half of the pool getting the sun, you have to be up early to reserve.
During the world cup matched there were only 2 TVs on the wall next to each other that get congested. all commentary in Spanish, despite the high volume of English speaking guests. Also, it is normal to see a que at the 2 bars. I would not recommend the AI board as it is grossly overvalued.
The position of hotel is very good with a short cut to the beach available to 8pm. You can reach both Los Cristiano's and Costa Adeje easily.
The area is blessed with warm weather that make it a perfect winter location, as such the resort was busy during our stay.
The staff at this hotel need training to show respect and patience towards guests, particularly the English speaking. I experience a racial incident with member of the restaurant supervising staff that called Africans names to the effect of slaves, and of course I had to respond to him with anger to stop him in his track. This should not happen in this day and age and shows the hotel management poor recruitment & training.
We visit this area multiple times each year with no incidents, as such we will never stay or recommend this hotel ever again.
Hotel was fine & staff were fine. Very good position in resort just up from Veronicas across from Linekars. Sunbeds were cleaned every morning & every 2 beds were together within a taped zone to keep socially distanced. Daytime entertainment was ok but due to covid not as much as you’d expect & they weren’t hassling people to take part (obviously to keep numbers down). Night time entertainment was the normal hotel stuff - dancers magician etc etc.
Now for the not so good bit. Rooms were spotless but half of them are at the back of the hotel with no sun. Queues at the bars (both pool bar & evening bar) were very long due to not enough staff manning them. The food at the pool bar was a hit & a miss. My food was always hot & cooked but there were a lot complaining about it being warm at best & undercooked. The staff in the restaurant were fine. Every other table was marked red so that everyone is socially distanced. Table service for drinks at lunch & evening. Go for breakfast at busier times & the food will be fresh. At lunch go earlier as this is when its at its freshest. We went at different times at dinner and it was always fresh. However there isnt much choice and all very samey but we always got something
Hotel is definitely a 3 star at best but we still did enjoy our stay.
Very little open in resort so dont expect it to be party central!
The hotel to look at was beautiful, rooms average but works, hair drier in bathroom powerful showers, and a small fridge. the pools were good, kids pool with a few slides and 2 bigger pools one you could touch the floor the other you can’t.
When we checked in it was very quick & easy as we didn’t arrive till 11 o’clock on the night. We were told a 20 minute transfer it took a hour! The hotel is massive lots of photo opportunities to have with the family a hot tub by the pools free to use.
We chose this location for the night life for the younger members of the group so 5 minutes from the strip, you couldn’t hear any of it in your room which was good.
Now for the bad part!
The breakfast was awful cold most day you had to wait around for bread, knifes/forks, glasses for Juice, cups for coffee & tables to be cleaned. The lunch & evening food was better but once again waiting around for cutlery or a clean table. Also on the afternoon & evening you couldn't help yourself to drinks you had to wait for the waiting staff to come over to your table & order them 9x out of 10 we went without drinks either because we had finished our food before being seen or they came just as we finished. You also have to have your room card on you at all times to get drinks.
The evening entertainment was ok some really good. But for the children’s entertainment it was on too late & only for 10 minutes. No music around the pool in the day time. No air con in the
The restaurant or play rooms so very hot.
One party with us did have a problem with cockroaches in their room & was just given some bug spray…which brings me on to the staff!!!! All staff were very RUDE I have never been to a hotel with staff like it! A glass got knocked off a table when we went to the bar to ask for it to be cleaned the bar lady rolled her eyes and handed us a paper towel to clean it ourselves, the queueing
Was horrendous you would be stood at the bar for around 10 minutes before being served & the Spanish would be served first then the staff would chat away before coming to you. No smiles & understaffed the whole time. The best member of staff we met was Luca A rep he was friendly & always came over to speak to us. So that’s just 1 member staff who was great!
The whole time we were there there was building work going on from around 9AM by the pool drilling & hammering for hours! If they had put music on wouldn’t have minded but after the amount we paid you don’t expect to have to listen to building work going on.
To sum it up the worse hotel for experience we have been to,
I’ll begin with the worst aspect of the hotel and then try to end on a somewhat positive note for those who have already booked and cannot cancel. I have stayed in a number of all inclusive hotels and most of the staff within them cannot do enough for you. In this hotel, they seem to do the opposite. The snack bar by the pool is effectively pointless as you’re waiting to be served for at least 20-30 minutes. It would quite literally be quicker to walk to the beach, gather some sea water and filter it into drinking water yourself. If you don’t want to wait at the snack bar for half of your holiday, you do have the option to eat in the dining room for lunch/dinner. During my stay I did wonder where the volcanoes of Tenerife are actually situated but after that holiday, I’m fairly certain they’re directly below the dining room. If you’re reading this review from your house on the Sun then you should be fine but for anyone else who lives on Earth like I do, good luck. To make your experience slightly less miserable, I recommend going to the supermarket over the road and buying some drinks from there before dinner because by the time you’ve been served drinks in the dining room, you’ll have finished your starter, main and dessert (with room for a second and possibly even third dessert).
So by now you’re probably thinking “this sounds awful” and you’re right, it is. But don’t worry because the joyful and friendly staff will make up for this… on your next holiday in a different hotel. I think the staff in this hotel may have actually received training in how to treat guests poorly so I’m not sure I can blame them completely. I understand that people in the service industry have struggled over the past couple of years but the staff in this hotel were just unnecessarily rude at times. For those of you non-Spanish speakers who do visit, I took the liberty of finding this phrase for you… “Animo!” which roughly translates to “Cheer up!”. I do have to say that there is a chef in the dining room who wears glasses and is always very friendly and a welcome addition to his otherwise miserable colleagues (maybe he should lead the guest relations training?).
Just to note, this is the first trip advisor review I have ever left but deemed it necessary for this particular hotel.
I would never visit again, even if somebody paid me to.
