Spring Hotel Vulcano boasts a prime central location that is frequently commended for its easy access to beaches and local entertainment. However, some guests have voiced concerns about the service, pointing out instances of slow check-ins and unprofessional responses. The hotel's atmosphere and value have come under scrutiny, with visitors mentioning additional fees and a lack of vibrancy. While the amenities are generally well-received, issues with room cleanliness, noise, and maintenance have marred the experiences of several travelers.

We have stayed at Vulcano for years now & always have the best stay. The UP experience is second to none. Having access to a comfortable sunbed all day, with space around you and nobody right next to you, not having to be at the pool at the crack of dawn to face the 'battle of the sunbeds' and having a variety of areas to choose from means we will never go back to a 'normal' hotel. The UP bar itself is spot on. Breakfast, lunch snacks along with sweet treats mean you can graze all day if you want to. The new addition of the 'hot food' bar is fantastic. The other guests who use the UP bar are also lovely & we always make a few friends!

The 'extras' you get with a 7 night stay also make it worth it. The taxi transfer means a very quick trip to the hotel after landing, with no need to worry about getting cash ready. The massage is always fantastic- Erica gave me a back & neck massage that was perfect. Finally the 'Eat & Fit' meal in the UP bar is one of the best meals of our trip every year.

The staff at the hotel are all friendly & helpful, but a massive special mention to Andrea of the Customer Experience team. She patiently responds to multiple emails with queries, bookings and concerns, and does so quickly with patience and knowledge. She always helps to make our holiday fantastic!

Our only negative is that the most basic option is bed & breakfast. The hotel has a lovely restaurant, with a fantastic selection of great quality food & is better than most hotels I have stayed at before. If you have a big appetite in the morning, it is perfect for you. However, my mum & I are not big breakfast eaters & don't like to eat too early, therefore the breakfast snacks available in the UP bar are more than adequate for us. We did visit the restaurant for breakfast on one occasion, as we had paid for it!, and did not enjoy the experience. The busyness, number of people & noise just doesn't compare to the calm oasis of the UP bar. We always feel quite disappointed that we have to pay for breakfast when we do not want it. I think for UP guests, there should be the option to purchase 'Room Only'.

We will hopefully be back again next year. Sadly the prices increase exponentially each year (the same room/ week/ length of stay is around £500 more than this year!), so it may now be out of our budget, but fingers crossed!

Dear Siobahn G, Thank you very much for taking the time to write this review. We are very grateful for this fantastic review about your stay at the Up experience. We are glad to read that as a repeat customer the Up Terrace continues to meet your expectations. As you described in the Up experience the sundaes are guaranteed, and there is a variety of snacks and drinks from 10am to 6pm. For UP guests who book a minimum of 7 nights, a massage of 25 minutes per person, a spa circuit of 50 minutes and a special dinner once per stay is included. Regarding the transfer, we want to emphasize that is always included for all customers who book through the hotel website for a minimum stay of 7 nights. We would like to thank you for your kind words about our staff and we will especially pass them on to Andrea, one of the members of our wonderful Customer Experience Team. At the moment is only posible to book bed and breakfast or half board, but we take note of your suggestion. It will be a pleasure for us to welcome you and your mum again. Best regards, Spring Hotel Vulcano & UP!

I stayed at the Spring Hotels Vulcano at the start of December and was thoroughly impressed by everything to do with the hotel.

Check-in was fairly quick and straight forward (although I was lucky enough to be first in a line of 3 or 4 behind me and there was only 1 staff member on) and I was assigned a room on the 6th floor with pool view. The room was very clean, spacious enough and had enough mod-cons to keep everyone happy – I particularly liked the google nest on the wall allowing you to easily play music, enquire about weather, etc. The bathroom was spotless and I was impressed by the shower with its rainfall effect. There is a good sized fridge, adequate storage and a safe available with a refundable 10Euro deposit.

I stayed on a half board basis and ate breakfast and evening meals at the hotel. It is a buffet style service – however everything is served by the staff as you queue to get your chosen food/drink. The range on offer for both meal settings was fantastic and freshly prepared by the polite staff (who are all working on extreme pressure given the guidelines and rules on masks, social distancing, etc)

The absolute star point of this hotel is the UP rooftop area – adults only bathing area with an incredible infinity pool and jacuzzi overlooking and offering unrestricted and unrivalled views of Playa De Las Americas. It costs 40Euro per day per person but that includes all your drinks and snacks that are on offer …. As well as the most comfy sun loungers I think I’ve ever sat on! Its open from 10am to 6pm every day.

The hotel is obviously running on reduced staffing levels with the amount of custom that there currently is (I would imagine that its operating at approx. 20% capacity at present) yet everyone was polite and did their best to accommodate the guests.

I would have no hesitation in returning to the Vulcano again – its in a great central location and is MUCH better than some of the other 4* and 5* hotels in the surrounding area.

Just had a/other stay here which again was pleasant. The staff are all very helpful and friendly. Noticed a few changes this year - we had a superior room with tea/coffee facilities, however this year if guests wanted the coffee/tea/milk replenishing after the first supply was finished then this was to pay for at 4 euro's per day, pretty sure in the past this wasn't the case. The main change for us was that, in the past, guests taking half board could change their evening meal for lunch at the pool bar. This suited us down to the ground as we have friends who stay close by on a self catering basis and occasionally we like to eat out with them in the evening. The food generally is good, we always eat from the station where food is being freshly cooked so that the food can be guaranteed to be hot. There is also some great food in the hot dishes on the central counters but anytime we have had food from there we have felt like we have wasted it as it's just not hot enough, nothing worse than cold food. Good choice at breakfast too with the usual fresh fruits, continental or full english breakfasts. We used the hotel bar quite a few nights but sadly the evening entertainment isn't to our choice. The Beatles, Bee Gees and Abba had us leaving the hotel in search of some better entertainment in the local bars. All in all this is a very good hotel and my comments above are written as constructive criticism rather than a complaint as we feel they are all issues that can very easily be addressed. We will definitely be back at the Vulcano in the future.

Greeted at check in with another holidaymaker kicking off with check in staff as they’d lost his debit card! We were offered to ‘pay’ for the safe in our room which we agreed but they immediately wanted a €10 deposit. We didn’t have any Euros but they refused to charge the €10 to our room or put it on a credit or debit card!!!!! We had to leave the hotel, go into town, find a shop, change some money into Euros to return to the hotel just to be able to put down a €10 deposit! WOW! They then wanted to know if we wanted to ‘pay’ for the fridge in our room! We declined! We were offered Zero help in getting the cases to our room! At this stage we were already feeling like we’d made a poor decision by booking this hotel and we’d not even got into the room yet!
The room itself was a good size, clean and the maids were good at keeping it clean, changing the towels etc. One small bottle of water to share for the whole week, if you wanted more you had to ‘pay’, unsurprisingly!
One night we wanted an iron, we were going out and had just been in the shower, we rang reception but they wanted a €20 deposit and worse than that we had to walk down to reception to pay the €20 ‘prior’ to them bringing one to our room! Bearing in mind some of the rooms are on the 7th floor (and many of the guests in their 70’s and 80’s) this is totally ridiculous, we asked if they would charge it to the room but the answer was ‘no’ we had to present ourselves at reception with €20 cash in our hand. We were informed that we were only allowed it for a maximum of 2 hours! Why on earth would they want a deposit on an iron in a four star hotel? What the hell did they think we were going to do with it? Sell it on the street? The stupid thing was (yes, even more stupid) was that as soon as the iron arrived you could walk back to reception and they would give you the €20 back, despite the iron still being in your room!!! WHO THOUGHT THAT ONE UP???
On our last day we rang reception and asked where we could get beach towels as we wanted to go around the pool, guess what, they wanted us to ‘pay’ for them and tried to get us to ‘pay’ for the whole week despite it being our last day! Once we’d paid we then had to find the pool attendant who then sent us to the spa for the towels and when we’d finished with them we had to take them back upstairs to reception!
The average age of guests at the hotel was about 75 with elderly people asleep in many areas of the hotel making it feel like an old folks home, there was even a huge area just for parking and charging disabled buggies!
We had high hopes for this hotel, it’s large, clean, well presented and in a good location but we could never again put up with all the stupid rules laid down by the hotel management, I have never, in all the hotels I’ve ever stayed in had to endure such stupidity!
If your in your 70’s (or older), can put up with stupid rules and want a central location, this could be for you but if you’re younger and want a NORMAL hotel look elsewhere!

Dear Paul175T, Thank you for sharing your thoughts about our hotel. We are sorry to hear that you were not satisfied with some of our internal policies. Although, as in your case, some norms may seem strange or may lead to odd situations, there's a reason why we have them. From the use of some very harsh words in your review, we understand your frustration with some of the rules we have, but we think it could have been avoided just by getting informed beforehand. A full list of our services is available on our webpage, as well as descriptions of our various categories. The choice is always yours to book a basic or premium package and also up to you if you want to upgrade later on. As with all feedback, your notes will also be taken into consideration to improve our services and internal operations. Kind Regards, Mrs. Monika Papp, Spring Hotel Vulcano& UP!

Very occasionally you stumble on a hotel that gets everything right. It is clear that the staff at the Vulcano have thought long and hard about the guest experience and they’ve nailed it. Everything is near on perfect. Comfortable beds, air conditioning that works effectively, abundant fluffy towels, USB points for charging, lots of TV channels in many different languages, and a level of hygiene not seen in many hotels. Breakfast is superb with great coffee, fresh juice etc and the attentive staff make the whole stay a delight. We were in the UP! which was a great experience. Premium drinks and snacks, infinity pool, and jacuzzis with stunning views - it’s worth every penny. Dinner in the restaurant at night was of a consistently high quality and drinks and wine reasonably priced. We had lunch a few times at the pool bar and it was great value for money. Evening entertainment was elegant and appropriate for the audience and all procedures for COVID were strictly applied. We used the gym and the spa and were impressed by the new equipment and the rates. Again we highly recommend the spa circuit. We had an awesome week here and would return in a heartbeat. A special mention to Jose Luis, Airam, Mar & Miguel who made our stay extra special. Thanks guys... we hope to see you again soon.

We had a 10 night stay over the New Year period. The hotel is very well run and nothing is too much trouble for any of the staff. The New Years Eve gala meal was outstanding and the quality and choice of food on offer most nights was very good. We stayed on the fifth floor and the size of the rooms was not the largest with a small balcony. A €20 euro charge for the safe, tea and coffee replenished daily with the Up package. One of the lifts was not working the whole time we were there and they had a mind of their own and rarely stopped on our floor which wasn’t an issue for us but the majority of the clientele staying here was over 60. We did stay in and watch a couple of the nightly shows which were ok and there is a separate sports bar to watch your sporting fixtures. As we were staying for over 7 nights we had a free 2 hour session in the Thalasso spa which had various jets, bubbles and 2 different steam rooms with a sauna which was nice and relaxing. The gym was very well equipped and we did take an aqua biking spin class which was a new experience. We didn’t take the à la carte meal on the roof in the evening as their was only two choices on the main course. I wouldn’t want to stay at this hotel without the Up package which opened up at 10:00 and closed at 18:00. Plenty of comfy loungers and towels and a nice warm infinity pool. The staff up here Adriana, Agoney, Claudia, Christian, Daniel and Pia all work hard catering for your needs. The snacks on offer throughout the day varied everyday we were there which was nice, all the drinks were branded and they even had Estrella 1906 (a dark 6.5%) beer on draught which was nice. Agoney even brought myself a lovely birthday cake and bottle of fizz mid afternoon which was a nice touch. Overall a nice relaxing stay which was made even better by going Up.
Ohh the bar prices are very reasonably priced as well and we also had private taxi transfers included with the Up.
We look forward to returning here.

We had a pleasant stay, as it was our first stay here I’m not sure if things would have been better given current circumstances.

The main issue was with the restaurant, food was lukewarm and basically there wasn’t enough staff to serve food. There were four main counters where you had to queue to be served, the staff on duty did their best, too much was expected of them. Staff and customers were kept safe by Perspex barriers and social distancing was adhered to by most, I Breakfast was a better experience as you had access to a microwave.

The domestic staff visited the room daily, the bin in the bathroom emptied daily, toilet rolls and fresh towels left when required, the balcony wasn’t touched during our fortnights stay.

On a plus note the location is great, all staff in the hotel were extremely pleasant and helpful, during the day entertainment was good, you noticed when someone had a day off, however the least said about night time entertainment the better.

Having stayed in the Bitacora numerous times I was so looking forward to our stay in the the Vulcano and to be honest was left a wee bit disappointed, like I’ve previously mentioned this may be due to current circumstances

We have been back in the UK for a week now so I hope they have resolved the issues with the restaurant.

We are looking to book the Bitacora once it’s reopened and it’s safe to do so next year.

My husband and I stayed in this hotel for a week at the very beginning of March. This was our 2nd second stay and as a result we were registered for a spring card which entitled us to 15% discount on our drinks so thanks very much - a nice touch! Our stay again was excellent. The hotel is very clean, food choice really good and the staff extremely pleasant. My one gripe is that when we returned to our room on our last night, my hair straighteners were plugged in and had quite clearly been used. As I hadn't used them for 2 or 3 days previously and the fact we only had one adaptor which my phone charger had been plugged in to, I knew it wasn't me who had used them! Not the kind of thing you expect in a hotel of this calibre. Apart from this though our holiday was fantastic and otherwise the hotel was great.

We have just returned (13/7/2022-29/7/2022) from our first ever visit to Tenerife, Myself, My Husband and our 16 year old son, upon arrival at the hotel we were welcomed by staff and everything was explained to us about the hotel and facilities, We went to the pool area to wait for our room to be ready which was about an hour and wasn’t a problem as the sun was shining and it gave us chance to look around , we then went to our room and it was a perfect size and space for the 3 of us, Room 783, it also has stunning views out to sea, The hotel staff were so friendly throughout our stay, The whole hotel was clean and tidy, we were half board and the food was lovely, We did eat out a couple of times in the evening but that was to experience some other local restaurants and not because of any issues with the hotel, pool area was clean and tidy and being able to change your towels daily with the lifeguard was a bonus not having wet towels around the balcony drying each day. The evening entertainment was not really to our taste and a little dated so we did go out in the evenings most nights to the local bars with some excellent singers and shows, my advice would be to get rid of the ABBA tribute as they were so bad and the singing was awful even other guests said the same to us but it’s not a huge issue to have to go to the local bars in the evenings as the location of the hotel is perfect, you are within 5 mins of local restaurants and bars and the beach is less than a 10 min stroll away. We loved our first experience staying at the Hotel Vulcano that myself and my husband are rebooking to stay next March and upgrading to an UP room (just waiting to hear back from the hotel with our confirmed price to be emailed through to us) we booked our room and flights direct with the hotel and it was a faultless process plus booking direct we were also given taxi transfers from and too the airport so will be booking direct again. This hotel is perfect for couples or families of older children that don’t want any kids clubs, this suited us perfectly as we had no small children to entertain. We can’t wait to return.
