Hotel is old fashioned, rooms are small and bathroom needs to be replaced. Our front door didn’t lock very well one hard push and it would of opened easily and the balcony door did not lock. Bathroom decor was old and dirty and really needed refurbishing although the shower was powerful. We found staff very helpful and welcoming and our room was cleaned every second day. But I would book somewhere nicer if I were to come back.

Hotel has been renovated very very very long time ago. Rooms are in poor condition. you have to pay for Television. Insert 1 EUR coin and watch TV for an hour. I havent seen this kind of thing in any of the hotel of the world. Also WIFI is not free.
We had "All Inclusive package". Well, All inclusive means that you have 3 times meal in hotel and can have free drinks in the bar. Thats all for "all inclusive".
Food was also not very good. Breakfast was ok, lunch also not bad. DInner selection was poor.
I would give this hotel maximum 2 stars or even 1++

Stayed here for a week all inclusive just leaving today and this is the worst hotel imaginable we didn’t wear our all inclusive bands at all after the first day we tried one breakfast and it was awful so tried the dinner the same day thinking it can’t be that bad but all there was was chicken pasta and fruit, went to the bar you can only get the cheap stuff with all inclusive and if you want a Smirnoff vodka in a tiny plastic cup it costs you 4.50. So we ate out 3 meals a day every single day and never had a drink in there again.

We paid extra for a premium room and got an old dirty room with 2 single beds which used to have a kitchen in it but had all been boarded up bar the fridge. Rooms are meant to get cleaned every other day but we had to go down and complain every other day for it to actually be cleaned and get clean towels and toilet paper
The doors are locked with metal keys which if you lose one you have to share the spare key with the cleaner so you have to hand it in at reception every time you leave the room.
The staff are miserable and ignorant especially the small dark haired lass at the bar who was handing out dirty looks to everyone and just standing on her phone while there was a queue of people waiting to be served their half pint beer half pint froth. The life guard just comes and goes when he pleases not that many people were ever in the dirty pool which never got cleaned.
When we got our transfer info for going home we just expected to be picked up where we got dropped off (outside reception) but when about 15 minutes had past we thought the bus was late went inside asked them to ring the bus, for them to tell us the bus picks you up around the corner which they could of told us before we left instead we wasted another 30 euro on a taxi to the airport on top of paying for transfer busses.

Just got back from a week in this awful hotel rooms stinking pool stinking food awful chicken is pink bar staff rude never anyone at the bar always waiting ages. Had to ask at reception to get the pool cleaned. Rooms were cleaned every other day well if you can call it cleaned never emptied the bin were lucky to have clean towels. bedding all marked and not changed only the top sheet bathroom was growing mold where the sink was they paint the baths so its stuck to you after a bath/shower or if you have the newish bathrooms it floods the place. they never leave toilet roll u gotta keep going to reception same for towels 2 towels between 4 people and when asked if we could have more we were told no sorry not possible. Cockroaches everywhere dead and alive. The toilets never have toilet paper always gotta ask at reception. The toilets by the pool bar well what can I say no soap to wash your hands lucky to have toilet paper it's like a dungeon down there. The only thing that should be done to this hotel is for it to be knocked down health and safey would have a field day they need to go there for sure. If your disabled this hotel is no good as it's not desable friendly. The reception staff are rude and of no help at all. I'm far from a snob but my god this hotel is a dump having to pay for the TV is shocking. I could go on and on worst hotel ever AVOID AVOID AVOID.

Me and my boyfriend came here for our first holiday together without our parents and when we arrived, the staff were incredible rude and ignorant. We felt as though the staff treated us with no respect because of our ages. (18&19) We went to our room and as you can see pictured, it was absolutely horrifying. It was small, dark and extremely dirty. I wasn’t expecting 5* luxury due to the cheep and cheerful price but I have never felt so uncomfortable in a hotel in all my life. There was mould everywhere, faeces stains in and around the toilet, bugs crawling all over the ground, dust, rust, and the floor was covered in little black hairs and food crumbs. We went down to reception and asked for a new room and we weee told they couldn’t do anything about it and to come back tomorrow and try again so we tried again and was reluctantly given a new room. We checked in and it was not much better. I felt dirtier getting in the shower then I did before. It was extremely hot during the night time so one morning I asked reception if there was air condition and she rudely replied with “um no we do not”. The food is the same thing every day, however I witnessed the chefs and some guests going up to the trays and picking food out with their fingers and eating them. This put me off completely! I have been living off dry reheated cold chips and hard pasta. We paid extra for all inclusive however there is only 5 options for food at meal times and we could only eat during set times. There claimed to be snacks in the bar between 14:00-16:00 however there never was. Had to pay €6 for a mars bar ice cream. There was hardly anyone at the bar so was waiting around a good 5 minutes to be served. Overall, NEVER AGAIN. So many of the other English guests had the same opinion and it looks so different compared to online. The swimming pool was closed off for 3 days in a row. There is no entertainment which there claims to be. We noticed some families and groups checking out early and going to another hotel. The rooms only cleaned once a week and you had to ask for toilet paper which they were for some reason really hesitant to give. €20 for a safe which we didn’t use once because we didn’t trust the safety and security of the rooms. I don’t know how they can even have 3*. Also, it is a cockroach party every day. They’re everywhere. Save your money and never ever ever come here. I have never been so excited to go home. Disappointed, Upset and Angry.

Just returned after 3 weeks at the Pondy. Our 6th year there and have already booked up for the same time next year. As I have said before if you expect 5 star quality you have to pay for it. Firstly it's in the perfect location for everywhere. Secondly most hotels on the Island serve mainly chips chicken and pork but you will pay a kings ransom to stay there. Marita and the reception staff are fantastic and will supply you with any appliance you may require ie kettle, iron hairdryer etc on request. Also you can ask for more sheets pillows and blankets and you will get them. Yes the rooms are dated and need renovating but yet again it isn't just the Ponderosa that has this problem. You have to pay to watch tv but why would you wish to on holiday. The Pondy like most hotels on the island have massive competition from the hundreds of bars who have entertainment on every night coupled with it being a very cosmopolitan hotel makes it nigh on impossible to put entertainment on in the hotel. The young bar staff were so friendly and always polite despite having so much work to do. Please don't go if you have very high standards as it won't be for you but for me and my wife who work extremely hard and only get the one holiday a year it's the perfect place we can relax in. Those who haven't been yet don't be put off by some reviews just ask yourself this question. If it's so bad why do so many people keep returning year after year. We cant wait to return.

The only good things about this place was clean sheets and towels every other day. The maid made the bed and empty the bin and off she went no cleaning at all. the only time you got a china cup was at breakfast, the rest of the time it was plastic disposable cups. Only 2 public toilets for the whole of the hotel, and very rare to have loo roll. Definitly not disable friendly, lots of steps and steep ramps. A very steep hill to get to the hotel if you wanted to walk to and from the beach. The food was appalling . We had Lasagna one day which was quite nice (made a change) when the tray was empty i asked if there was anymore and the kichen maid said no eat the othe food!!! nice manners. There was 2 youngsters who looked after the bar and cleared the tables, the were very good and very polite. I would give this hotel a miss , there are others about the same price and better

This hotel is very run down and badly run, the staff were rude to myself and my partner and very unhelpful.
I did not go there expecting luxury but would strongly recommend you find somewhere else which is most certainly going to be better than this hotel.
The food was edible but very bland same dishes practically every day, the pool area closed at 6pm and you could still find plastic cups and rubbish the next morning laid about from the previous day when you went down for breakfast.
Believe me you would not want to be stuck in quarantine for fourteen days in this hotel everyone was complaining, some even booked in to other hotels.
In three words TERRIBLE FILTHY HOTEL

This Hotel is an utter disgrace. And before you take any 5 star review seriously first remember most of those reviews could be written by people who have a vested interest in this hotels reputation as many of the Appartments could be privately owned or timeshare. When we arrived we were asked to sign a few forms which stuck to the counter when trying to hand them back showing it hadnt been cleaned for a while. When entering the battered and dilapidated elevator we found dirty tissues on the stained floor and stains on the wall and gunk where the elevator buttons were. The door to our room looked worse than my garden shed door. The bedroom pillows stunk of old cigaretts. The bathroom was falling apart and electricians tape was holding the mirror in place over the sink. The toilet had a bad stain inside it and it was cracked like someone had come in and accidently dropped their beer pint into it and cracked the bowl. It was a challenge just to flush as the knob wasnt attached properly. There was no lock on the patio doors so we couldnt leave anything of value in the room if we went out despite the hotel offering a safe. The food wasnt fit for a dog. The 2 pools were mucky as was the sun loungers. We will be sending our complaint and photos to the travel agent. After 2 night we re-packed our suitcases and walked out costing us another £1000 to stay in another Hotel for the remainder of our Holiday.
