Receptionists speak perfect, fluent Spanish and German but very, very basic English so I would advise you download an App called Google Translate and practice with it; avoid the older blond, female Receptionist, she’s not helpful!! This hotel is geared towards its Spanish and German tourists, it accepts English money and tolerates us but, makes no concessions to our tastes when it comes to food on offer. It’s very continental and, sometimes quite bland and repetitive. It’s all edible and there’s plenty of variety, you can sustain yourself if you’re not a fussy eater or have any dietary restrictions. The rooms are beautifully clean as are all the public areas, the cleaners are friendly and helpful. One word of caution. If you are a smoker .. the Abora will take your money and treat you like a Leper. You can smoke in one small area at the back of the hotel, which is always filthy or outside the front of the hotel, which isn’t much better. Smoke anywhere else in the hotel and you will get ‘snitched on’ by other guests. It’s pathetic. We’ve stayed twice, we won’t be back for a third time.

Hotel is great and exactly what you expect from a 3 star. Rooms spacious and clean, mattresses are a bit hard. Pool area excellent with plenty of sun beds, some people do queue at the doors at 8am to bag the best spots but there are always some available somewhere. Food is pretty decent and as you would expect from a 3 star, restaurant staff are excellent and always working very hard. Snack bar is ok, serving breakfast things in the morning then chips and hot dogs type stuff with cakes in the afternoon. Self service bar serving soft drinks, wine and beer with manned bar for vending machine cocktails and spirits. Animation team are excellent, very friendly and invite everyone to join in without being too pushy. Patrick was my favourite. In house evening entertainment was ok, they do commit and try hard, difficult to find a seat in to watch unless you get there really early. Overall good holiday and you get what you pay for.

Holiday was beautiful calm but fun atmosphere food was fab I am a fussy eater and there was always something for me, pool ares gorgeous so clean and tidy and all the hotel staff were so welcoming and kind, the rooms were pristine. We had no issues at all with the hotel and the entertainment staff were absolutely brilliant so funny and accommodating. Transfer was easy and in resort check in went fab. The airport jet2 staff were absolutely amazing and helpful showing us where to go.

Arrived after 9.30 in the evening check in was really easy and staff friendly. We had just missed dinner and were directed to the self service area for something to eat. This was only sandwich’s and slices of cake. My partner cannot eat cheese and most of sandwiches contained cheese. It would have been nice if there had been more options after a long day travelling. Rooms are really nice plenty of room and cannot fault the cleanliness. There is a kettle but no milk and only limited tea/ coffee but not a problem as we had taken our own. Food was ok and found something we liked most days. The self service areas were a good idea, just wish the cocktails had been freshly made and not from a machine. Cannot really comment on the entertainment as we went for a walk most evenings. The beach is lovely but not great if you have mobility issues, you need to walk up and down a lot of steps or ramps. We walked to the yumbo centre as there is a lift or a cab only 4/5 euros. All in all we had a great holiday and meant some lovely people.

The hotel was very spacious, rooms good size, restaurant area nice and big and good pool area. One stand out for me was the cleanliness of the hotel, rooms were cleaned every day and you could tell they'd pulled things out and done it properly. Plenty of food options to choose from and always fresh. The entertainment staff worked extremely hard to provide excellent shows each evening. On a couple of occasions, the gas went off on the mixers at the bar, and my only suggestion would be to provide ice cream at the snack bar during the day as part of the all inclusive, unfortunately the only ones available were to purchase.

Just returned from a week away. For the money we paid (booked through BA) I couldn’t fault it. Yes the food was repetitive but its what I would expect for the level of hotel, everything was fresh & a good variety of different things. The entertainment staff are really great, even at the end of what I’m sure was a very busy summer season, they were still smiling & enthusiastic. Loved Patrick & Petra’s Aqua classes. Rooms & hotel areas spotlessly clean. Local spirits / beer / cava / wine included; premium spirits not included which is fair for the price. If you want premium pay for 5 star. Loved that they monitored the sun beds for people leaving towels out in the morning & took towels off if people didn’t return in a certain time, handled brilliantly. If you’re looking for a sunny getaway that’s good value for money I would recommend.

Absolutely brilliant hotel! First time visiting to Gran Canaria and we loved every minute of it The hotel was spotless, entertainment team were amazing! Easy access to everything, bus stops to take you pretty much anywhere. Food was good too a selection for all meals and drinks there is also a Self service drinks area and snack by the pool too! We arrived late night and there was a fridge with a range of sandwiches and cakes which was great after a long day of travelling! Would definitely stay here again and will be recommending to people!

We had a lovely time at this hotel. Staff very friendly and everything was very clean. Sub beds do get reserved/taken quickly (especially on the left hand side of the pool as this is where the sun hits first at around 10am), but the pool staff were going round and putting leaflets on unmanned beds and 10am and then removing towels at 11am if still unmanned. Food was as expected, plenty of choice, and very 3 star standard. We ate at the snack bar every lunchtime and went out for one meal in the evening to have a change of scenery. The animation team were great with plenty of activities during the day to get involved in (darts, pool, giant jenga, shuffleboard, aqua gym etc). Evening shows were cheesy but entertaining. Biggest downside to this hotel (and the reason for the 4/5 review) is that despite being all inclusive, not everything was included. Ice Creams are c€2.50 each and smoothies are not included (€3.05 at a discounted rate). There are also a limited amount of drinks available for all inclusive, more fancy cocktails and branded spirits were an extra charge. Overall we had a pleasant week at this hotel and would visit again.

Visited this hotel last year for 9 nights and wanted to return for longer as we didn’t feel like we had long enough. However, I have come to realise that was a huge mistake and with 2 nights left I am ready to go home. Let’s talk through the different elements. Rooms: Very spacious, beds comfortable but do slide around a lot when turning in the night so be careful if trying to share as a double bed, will end up separating like tectonic plates and one of you will end up on the floor. The wardrobe space is great, balcony decent size with a line to hang wet clothes. No bin in the room which is a bit frustrating and the fridges are quite small so can’t fit a lot in (e.g bottles of water) the fridge isn’t that cold either. The bin in the bathroom is also tiny. Showers are decent and you are provided with shampoo/conditioner and hand soap. The shampoo is also shower gel. Pool Area: We arrived in the last week of the school holidays and so there was a long queue forming at 7:45 which meant it was hard to get a sunbed with a parasol. There really isn’t that many parasol and so many are broken due to the strong winds. I witnessed many people hurt by them and staff were on it but then those same parasols were put out again the next day. Hotel could really invest in some new ones as the current ones are not safe. Am still currently in the hotel and have noticed that it is easier to get a sunbed now the school holidays are over. Have been getting down at 8am and there’s still plenty by 10/11. However, if you do want a parasol, get there early. Speaking of Parasols, never had this happen before but wanted to mention anyway just to warn people. We had a parasol next to our beds but hadn’t put it up yet as we wanted to enjoy the sun for a bit. Went for a swim in the pool and when we came back, 3 obnoxious and rude Spanish ladies had taken it and moved it to their beds. Now they wasn’t there when we were on our beds but our towels and belongings were clearly visible and they were aware they had taken it as when we came back they kept looking over. I didn’t say anything as it’s difficult to communicate sometimes with language barriers and I really didn’t want any drama. About 1 hour later they had moved all of their stuff to somewhere different and one of the ladies had moved to another sunbed. We then took the parasol back as it was being used and was met with disgusting stares from her the entire time. Despite that, I’ve not experienced any rude people who steal stuff but I do find some of the Spanish guests to be rude and abrupt. They seem to hate the English lol! Sometimes you’re met with rude and judgemental stares in the dinner hall. Staff: I found all to be very friendly. It goes both ways, if you’re friendly to them they’ll be friendly back. It doesn’t hurt to say thank you and please and they will appreciate it. Even more of a bonus if you make an effort to speak the language! Animation team all amazing too and try their best. Entertainment: It could be better but do have to remember it is a 3 star hotel and it does give people the opportunity to stay in, especially with young children. The staff do really try. Some of the shows are good and some are lacklustre but not everything is going to please everyone. In the day time the staff do try and get you involved with games. I do think they could come round to all areas though as quite a few times I wasn’t aware the activities were going on until I saw them happening. They do announce on the mic but if you’re down the bottom pool you can’t hear that much. Entertainment also repeats every week so if you’re here longer then be prepared to see the same stuff. Location: The location is not the best, in close proximity of some bars but a lot of the area is quite run down. It seems to have gotten worse in the last year. I ventured into Puerto Mogan and found that much more appeasing and had more to do. Can taxi into Yumbo but I find that a lot of the bars/restaurants don’t get busy until 11pm. The beach is in close distance but be warned there are no toilets for miles and miles and when you do find some (about 25 mins walk away) they are 50c a turn. Food: Now me and my partner are very fussy but we did always find something to eat. It is very repetitive but I suppose it has to cater to a wide range of people. There’s not much choice at all though, I ate the same thing every night. Potatoes, chips, bread and maybe some pork. There was one occasion it appeared to be a Chinese theme and that was amazing but other than that it is repetitive, especially if you eat lunch here. Breakfast is the same stuff every single day. Staff do also remove plates quickly but be warned there is no place to get new cutlery so make sure you keep your cutlery if going up for seconds. I will say I only ate one plate every meal and didn’t ever want to go up for seconds because there wasn’t much choice. But it does the job and feeds you. Drinks: Not the biggest drinker but plenty of self serve areas in the restaurant and around the hotel. My fave part of this hotel was all of the stray cats that linger around, I was feeding them water and trying to be friends with them. The staff all treat the cats amazingly too. There is a big fat black cat who often sleeps near the snack bar and he loves a fuss. He will follow you round the hotel too! And lots of kittens down by the smaller pool. I couldn’t wait to come back to this hotel but I think I am ready to go home now, which is saying something. I probably wouldn’t return, at least for a while. But have enjoyed my stay and it did the job it needed to do.
