Abora Buenaventura by Lopesan Hotels garners appreciation for its spotless rooms and vibrant atmosphere, complete with live entertainment that some guests find a bit much in the evenings. The hotel's location is celebrated for its proximity to beaches and local amenities, although a few guests note it can be somewhat removed.
While the service and family-friendly amenities like pools and entertainment are generally praised, issues such as noise disturbances and pool towel shortages have been called out. Opinions on value are divided, with some guests mentioning additional charges.

Hotel's Favorite
I'm a repeat guest and have been staying at Buenaventura for over 30+ years.
The staff are friendly, helpful, and professional. Special mentions to the following excellent team members:
Senor Alvarez - Sub Director and Jose in Reception.
Jon, in the lobby bar, along with Loli and Joel.
Yurena, Luis, Angel, and Lidia in the downstairs bar.
The cleaning staff do a wonderful job keeping the whole hotel spotlessly clean. Fresh towels every day if you require them.
Good choice of hot and cold food to suit most people palates. I especially enjoy the breakfasts.
Wide selection of alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks.
Hotel well situated for shops, bars, and nightlife.
Bedrooms are large and comfortable with a great rainshower.
My only negative comment is the poor nighttime entertainment performed by the animation team. The hotel should consider contracting outside entertainers as they did previously before the hotel was renovated.
I am looking forward to my next visit in 3 weeks' time.

The hotel has recently been renovated and looks good for it, the reception was bright, clean and spacious.
I booked an all-inclusive room but on arrive was offered an upgrade to a larger higher floor room at just under 10 euro a day which I took and glad I did. The room was very large 2 single beds and sofa that turned in to another bed; the TV had 2 English speaking channels along the 2 news channels. There was plenty of storage space and loads of hangers for your clothes, the bathroom was big with a walk in shower and being on the top floor (8) had some good views, house cleaning was daily and done by very friendly staff.
All-inclusive food was basic but plenty of verity (I always found something to eat), I was there for 2 weeks and the food rotation seemed to be 1 week so second week was the same selections as the first with the odd exception (again easy to choose something). The drinks, no limit on amount and selection for the all-inclusive guests was fine for me (Bacardi)
Although I did not attend any of the entertainment, what bits I watched from my balcony looked ok.
I found the all the staff to be friendly and helpful and would stay here again

+1
I stayed here years ago when it was IFA and decided to book again following the refurb.
I was impressed from the moment we arrived due to the modern reception area and pleasant staff.
I highly recommend upgrading to the Deluxe rooms that overlook the quieter adults only area. The room was really spacious, the beds have made me want to buy a new one at home, proper duvets instead of just sheets like a lot of hotels in Gran Canaria and a Nespresso machine for a decent coffee in the morning.
The rainfall shower is also amazing however I agree with other comments that the glass screen is too short meaning the floor gets soaked which is a bit of a pain. Housekeeping made sure we have clean towels every day even though we didn’t want our room cleaned (too many cocktails the night before!)
We thought the food and drink was great value. It’s like going to a busy World Buffet restaurant every day which may be some people’s idea of hell but when you’re greedy like us, it was perfect! Also loved that the all inclusive beer was Amstel! The staff were always busy cleaning up and very pleasant.
There’s a lot of German tourists enjoying the resort and some things feel geared towards them but we love going to Germany so actually enjoyed that!
Keep up the good work!

We have just come back from spending 2 weeks at Bueneventura the last time I reviewed this hotel it had a title of "Dont go anywhere else" and we had been going twice a year for the previous 3-4 years of this. In that time I could not fault this hotel it was great value for money although was in need of a refurbishment. We also travel to the playa de ingles at least once a year sometimes twice.
Now I am gobsmacked at how much it has changed since the refurb. It is very clean and they are always cleaning but it is very clinical, it seems to have lost it atmosphere and there is a lack of entertainment for adults. I am definitely not a party goer and I noticed this alot.
The room we had was very nice although the patio doors were very noisy on a night. We went all inclusive even though we do not drink alchohol. The dining area is more like school dinners and the food has a lot to be desired I just do not get this at all because my last review the food was amazing and there was plenty of it. This holiday they kept running out of various food and that was because they did not put enough out, it was as if they could not cope with the amount of holiday makers there was certainly no where near the same standard of food they use to have on our previous visit. The food was virtually all cold but there is a microwave so that was not a problem for me but all my food went into the microwave as I like it hot and also there was lots of people putting there drinks in there too. The 24hr snack bar food was nearly always dried up not very good standard at all.
Smokers are a big problem at this hotel, we do not smoke and no matter where we went outside we were encountered with all smokers. They have built a nice area overlooking the swimming pools with tables and chairs but again this is spoilt because of all the smokers. It would be nice if they could restrict some areas to non smoking. I am aware that it is there law that they can smoke anywhere outside but it is really not nice to have to be breathing this in all of the time.
We flew back home on 30th December but I did notice a sign saying if you wanted to sit in the premier area which overlooks the pool on new years eve then you can purchase a bottle of wine I think it was (it was some alcoholic drink) this would then reserve your seat I think they should really extend this to other drinks especially for people who do not drink alcohol like us. I am not sure if they would do that on that occasion but if not then some guests just would not be able to reserve their seat if they wanted to.
They have refurbished the area where people use to have sunbeds on the mud this is now grassed and a water feature has been installed this is a massive improvement.
The staff on the front desk were always very nice although some did not give correct information this was only an odd occasion the bar staff in the bar near the 24hr snacks where really not very happy they were miserable I quite often thought why do some of the staff work there if they are not happy.
I have giving this a 2 rating where previously my ratings were 5 I was very very disappointed in the hotel now.
Would I come back - Definitely Not
Would I recommend this hotel - Definitely Not
This is a real shame as before I always recommended this hotel but unfortunately it has been really spoilt.

Me and my partner booked this hotel because of the modern rooms, the price and location of the hotel, in these terms the hotel was spot on the rooms were very clean and tidy, the location was near the beach and a few local restaurants and bars and the price is what it is, the issue with this hotel comes down to the staff, all the staff (excluding the entertainment team) were very moody throughout the day and that created a unwelcome feel to the hotel, I appreciate some rules they enforce are due to the government etc however the general manner of the staff was unhelpful and some times very rude, The food that was in the restaurant there was very bland and repetitive mostly being pasta or a meat with little flavour to it if any, because of this we found ourselves mainly eating out or using the snack bar where there were little picky bits. I will give credit where credit is due how the hotel looks and how clean it is in general is very good and as already mentioned the entertainment team were a shining light in what was a very dull experience, throughout each day they put on games or just coming over to chat have a laugh and was a really welcome change from the normal staff at this hotel, Ivan in particular was amazing and if I was to revisit the hotel one reason would be too catch up with the entertainment team as they were genuine people who loved what they do and it was refreshing to see. Overall, would I stay here again? probably not, but if small changes around the hotel could be made to the general mood and energy of the hotel then certainly, if I had to some up my stay in 1 word I would say underwhelming.

We spent 10 nights here for Christmas eve and NYE with the family.
We found it quite poor for a 4 star establishment.
Parking is an issue as very small and always busy.
The rooms are very noisy as the window/door facing the pool is very old and there is no isolation so you have no choice to be listening very loud music till 23:00 everyday and noisy people till late. We love the offer of animation and shows till late but we missed the option for those who want to sleep or feel unwell.
Our main concern is on cleaning and maintenance as it’s very poor. We had some issues with the shower drainage and nobody could fix during our visit. Sometimes soaps weren’t refilled, no daily paper rolls, bed sheers weren’t changed, floor and basic cleaning wasn’t done properly. Zero attention to detail and poor basics.
Food is ok, average options. Missing some local products.
The best part is the front house staff. They’re all very polite and giving good vibes!!

Just came back from a week at this hotel and a I wont be back. The Cleaner is a disgrace she does not leave toilet roll or clean rooms only makes bed also cleaner decided to take 1 of the room cards with her which in my view is wrong also she has sticky fingers. Majority of the holiday makers were smoking on the balcony yet we got told not to. As for the food if you love hotdogs and German food and pizza for breakfast lunch and dinner then you will enjoy the food as that's all you got that's if the germans never ate it all first also be prepared to be shoved and pushed about when standing in the que by the germans jumping the que they defo dont cater for the British or Scottish people defo won't be back

The hotel would be average to above average.
It is situated right in the middle of bars and restaurants if they were all open. Nice looking hotel and the rooms were pleasent enoigh and the aircon worked fine.
Food was fine and had to wear gloves when selecting food which was fine. It saved you pointing at everything for the chefs to pick.
Drinks were good with table service available at evenings which was a nice touch
The sunbeds that were there had bits missing from them all the time and you had to go look someone for the part constantly. A hotel worker would go around the beds at 10 and put notes on the reserved beds with no one on them. He would return an hour later and if the note was still on the bed he removed the towels. I for one totally agreed with this. It stopped people reserving beds all day and not going near them.
Watch out for the onsite supermarket. They sold cans of bud which i bought for 1.10. After a few days they ran out but when they restocked a few days after that the price had shot up to 1.55 a can. Not a nice move.
Over all a decent hotel and a pleasent enough stay. I would be in 2 minds if i was to return to the hotel.

We arrived through private transfer through jet2, very concerned that we hadn't seen a rep but on checking in Cristina from the hotel was fantasic, gave us all the information required in using sorting the covid tests we needed before flying home, the reception staff continued to be fantasic throughout our stay.
The hotel, snacks as expected, burgers, hotdogs, sandwiches, ice cream tubs, salad boxes etc.. Good enough
Breakfast, lunch and evening meal, fantasic selection and changes daily, we visited during covid therefore on occasions it was very busy waiting due to the security measures they have taken, wearing gloves before you enter the food hall however we changed our time of meals and found it was very quiet after 3 days all sorted. If you like fish you are in for a treat, some fantasic dishes. The puddings are brilliant, from chocolate fountains, to ice cream and cake.
Drinks - amstel on tap, wine, fizzy drinks and water, I'm told by my wife that the coffee isn't the best but that's the only minor complaint here.
Pools, one large pool with entertainment, one smaller pool and kids area, all with sunbeds, and as per everywhere these sunbeds in prime position are gone by 8am however the staff do issue warnings and move tolwels of they arnt used. There are a lot of areas with sunbeds in so just vwcuse you don't have prime position doesn't mean you won't have a bed which was a relief. Pool bars are very good. I think there is an over 18 pool but can't confirm.
Lifts, not great, we was on floor 4, midway, and we could never get a lift up or down, this is OK for us but I would consider this when booking, ask for a lower level room if you have any problems.
Evening entertainment, as you would expect, we are never fans of it anywhere so I can't comment but it was always very busy so must have been OK,
Gym closed due to Covid but hairdresser and onsite shop at competitive prices (my daily kick of lucozade 1.80 euros)
Location, 8 minute walk to the beach.. Remember the area is high so either steps down to the beach or I believe there is a hotel bus that can take you daily. With covid we can't really comment on the nightlife other than to say that as things reopen or will be fantastic.
Covid - very safe, very strict wearing of masks in communal areas, gloves when using the self service machines and a spotlessly clean hotel.
The hospital are now visiting the hotel testing, now in place at £10 euros each for a lateral flow.
To be honest, we loved it here, not perfect but the kids had an amazing time and we felt safe at all times.

Dear Graeme, Thank you so much for this very useful review not only for us but also for other future travellers. We are very pleased to know that you have had an amazing time and we sincerely hope you choose us once more! However, regarding the Covid testing for when flying back home, we would like to highlight that the procedure from Hospital San Roque has recently change. Since instead of the guests going to the Hospital they are taking the test in the Hotel, the cost now for a lateral flow/antigen test is 35€, not 10€ anymore. As we said, looking forward already to another visit! Kindest regards,

We arrived on the 24th September for 10 nights we arrived to a storm which was fine nothing anyone could do about that, we decided to make the best out of things and go for a walk, picked up some ponchos for us and the kids and had a blast the following day on the Sunday the sun was out but we were told we couldn’t use any of the pool facilities, we weren’t allowed the sun beds out so we went to complain and ask why as there was no wind or rain and the kids couldn’t wait to get in the pool, the main pool was dark brown from the storm so was shut for 2/3 days the second pool was lovely but half of it was shut off and was broken, this was not told to us prior to booking, not a main issue but still would of been nice to be aware, the kids splash pool was nice but 99% of the bed are broken and stuck together with cable ties. The park area for the kids was all taped off no explanation as to why no sign etc. the second pool was lovely close to the bar and toilet facilities and my children really enjoyed playing in this pool and we were able to see their every move. Considering this is meant to be a family hotel there was lots of pool rules i am aware its for everyone’s safety but very over the top and especially no floats for the children I’ve never known a hotel that dose not allow floats for children to play with. The staff put signs on your beds if you put your towels out to early and we did witness staff move towel and belongings if you didn’t return within 45-60 minutes, I understand why as this is fair for all guest just be aware to not leave your belonging lying around. The hotel itself is so clean and the bedroom we had was cleaned daily which was great with 2 kids around. The staff in the restaurant refused to put tables together as we booked as a family of 11 which meant half the time we were separated not a huge issue but they were clearly aware they had a booking of 11 and didn’t accommodate for that. The food was cold most of the time, no themed nights pork or fish every night nothing much for children at all apart from pizza my children really struggled with the evening food luckily the snack bar came in handy with nuggets. We did eat out a few times during the holiday which was nice. Location of the hotel is lovely not far from shops and the local entertainment, we had access to the water park, which was a lovely day out we went mid week so was quiet and we didn’t have to queue which is always a bonus to any holiday. The entertainment was ok we were sat by the Second pool most of the holiday never really heard anyone could round and ask us to join in and when 2 of the kids wanted to join in ages 7-9 they were told no it was for 18+ which was annoying considering the game was Jenga ! Would we come back probably not we did have a great time overall but just not family friendly enough for us.

Sorry, can not remember but I think it is not part of all inclusive, sorry I was there 5y ago.
I am not sure, sorry. But the selection was big enough.
I wouldn’t say they were heated.
Very cold when you first get it but soon get use to it.
The shallow pools feel much warmer.
