Second time to hotel, refurbishment is pretty good. Beautiful gardens and lovely pools. Sadly, the food menu did not get a refurbishment. In 2021, the choice for vegetarians is pretty terrible. For vegans- non existent. How can you still operate such a meat focused menu past the 1970s? I know this is Spain, but come on, no excuses in my opinion. It is so easy to offer a non-meat version of almost anything. Not even a meat-free salad by the pool cafe.

If I had the choice would have chosen a better quality room. Buffet restaurant had a very good range of well cooked food let down slightly by fish, generally overcooked. Speciality Spanish restaurant would be much improved by small changes in menu, bigger choice of tapas, portions on main dishes are excessive, smaller but more variety would be welcome. Mustafa bar, excellent bartenders, it really should be an alternative venue for the evening, snack food until say 7pm and maybe a guitarist or similar until later.

I cannot recommend this hotel enough following the full refurb in Summer 2021. It has transformed with some really beautiful rooms and lovely common areas with a great sense of style. The grounds are lovely and filled with palms. Rooms will all face generally towards the sea, but some will have uninterrupted views of the dunes if you’re in the main section. The staff are absolutely lovely, the buffet is huge and really varied, and it’s incredibly clean. I would always come back and stay in this Riu.

We always have a great holiday when it comes to Riu and this hotel is no exception. The hotel is beautiful and totally out of place in the area its in. The surrounding area outside the front of the Hotel is not great. We usually stay on the promenade of Meloneras, where there is 3 more Riu's which is a far superior area. Still accessible by taxi or walking through the Dunes which we did do there and back! If we could pick this one up and move it, it would be perfect! PROS: the hotel is exceptionally clean and a great layout with everything easy to find. The food was plentiful and we found it was a great choice, have yet to stay in a Hotel group that beats Riu's buffet choices. The drinks, although expensive, were generous measures and the Gin trolley was my favourite, especially the smoked gin! The Staff in every area are fabulous! CONS: not many, just wanted to make a couple of comments to improve on. Firstly, we asked to book the Krystal restaurant on arrival to be told it was fully booked all week! We were only there for the week so missed out. It would be better to maybe put in a book the day before system so it gives those staying a shorter time a chance to try it. When we got out of our taxi on arrival, we were greeted with a couple of dozen smokers standing right in the entrance. Doesn't create a great welcome! I understand the Spanish government have put in a Covid rule about smoking so not the Hotels decision, however, I would suggest maybe asking people to move to one side of the entrance and making smoking area? Lastly, the dress code for dinner needs to be enforced. Too many people looked like they had just come off the beach with shorts and vests and sliders. What happened to long trousers for men? Doesn't say 5 star if this is allowed. Aside from that, we would highly recommend this hotel for a relaxing holiday!
