We have received a rather mixed opinion about the hotel, therefore many minuses in this review.
A worn hotel, however, with a good location, a small kitchenette with insufficient equipment, unfresh bathroom that should be freshened up.
Sloppy staff at the reception. At check-in the receptionist neither smiled nor said welcome, just sighed and we didn't feel welcome at all. You do not receive any information on arrival about the apartment and facilities at the hotel. The reception's opening hours did not match at all, sometimes it closed earlier than what was written on the door and often it opened later, it was otherwise open too little. Hope the staff will be replaced next time you come there and the reception will keep opening hours.
No remote control for the TV in the room, poor picture on many channels and no free internet but weak internet for a fee, you can't listen to music or watch movies, still you have to pay a fee.
The rooms in the hotel are very responsive, not for someone who wants to sleep well and uninterrupted at night.
The magnetic card for the entrance door works like that and can be a bit difficult to get in if you are tired or drunk in the evening and want to unlock the door, it doesn't work.
Sparingly equipped kitchen. More pans needed, we found no wine glasses in the kitchenette in a wine country like Spain, which surprised us. It accepts drinking wine from juice glasses that were in the cabinet.
The stress point is that the cleaning staff start running up the stairs early, making noise and rattling completely unnecessarily, they wake up guests who are still sleeping. If you're on holiday, you don't want to be woken up early. In the bathroom, towels and bed linen can sometimes feel not really clean, please use a more effective detergent for washing.
In general, none of us who traveled would recommend this apartment hotel.

Very nice apartment complex with a fantastic view of the dunes and the beach. Separate bedroom, functionally equipped kitchenette and living area with an extra sofa bed, flat screen TV with free German channels. CITA shopping center can be reached in a few minutes, beach can be reached quickly via the promenade and a few stairs. Sunbeds and parasols on the beach cost 2.50 euros and can only be paid for with a card. Large safe free of charge. Thorough cleaning 5 times a week.

We stayed here in June 2012 and Dec 2010. I agree with the previous reviews -- the main advantage is the location.

This year we had trouble booking as the usual booking websites didn't have Arco Iris available and the reception said they couldn't take direct bookings. They told us to book via a German company called Schauinsland Reisen which we did. Their website was all in German but they can speak English if you email or call them. We saw their banners plastered over a lot of apartment blocks in Playa del Ingles during our 2012 visit, so if you have trouble booking then I'd recommend Googling their site.

These are the main disadvantages we found with Arco Iris:

Major noise issues for blocks 6 & 7 from bars on the beach. Definitely take ear plugs. We also had noise issues from neighbouring apartments due to poor soundproofing - staying on the top floor reduces this slightly. About 20% of the apartments are privately owned and were the source of apartment noise issues.

Internet (wifi) is extremely slow. This was €15/week but speed is only 0.2Mbps (checked multiple times on speedtest.net). Loading a page Tripadvisor reviews took around 2 minutes. The speed is 40 times slower than average UK broadband. You are also restricted to only one device. We had mobile phones, an ipad and laptop so this restriction was worked around by installing Connectify for Windows (which lets you create a new wifi network from an existing single wifi network connection). Though due to the slow speed we found visiting bars/restaurants with free wifi was the only practical solution.

Television hire (LG LCD TV in each room) is extortionately priced. There is only one English language channel available (CNN News). You need to pay to hire a power code and LG remote control. We took a power cord this year so we could plug in our laptop via HDMI but unfortunately they've disabled the manual controls on the side of the TV, so you need both the power cord and remote to use it.

Staff in the reception do the bare minimum to help and were unfriendly every time we dealt with them. The only exception was the elderly gardener - he was always jolly and friendly. The reception is only open for a few hours in the morning and afternoon - if you arrive after that then you'll be greeted by the gardener (who doesn't speak a word of English!)

Room numbering: there are six blocks, numbered 1-4 and 6-7. Each block has 3 floors and each floor has 7 rooms. Rooms are numbered XYZ where X is block number [1-4, 6-7], Y is floor number [1-3] and Z is the room number [1-7]. Each block has its own pool with cushioned sun chairs. You can use the pool of any blocks though most of the time the pools were not in use. We have never asked for a specific room number but I would ask if we stayed here again.

The best blocks for the view and avoding noise are 1-3. If I was booking again then I would completely avoid blocks 6 & 7 because the noise can be very bad from the bars in the beach shopping complex. We were kept awake to 3am on a Wednesday & Friday night by heavy bass/loud music from one bar. On other nights there wasn't a problem. Block 1 is closest to the Maspalomas dunes and block 7 is closest to the beach bars.

As far as floor level goes, level 1 is pool level with no sea view. Level 2 road level with a sea view. Level 3 has a better sea view but with view of ugly shopping complex if you are in blocks 6 or 7. You have to pay extra to get a sea view. We have stayed on level 2 and 3. I think 2 is the best level and lower numbered rooms (closer to road) are better.

As far as room number goes, 1 is closest to the road and 7 is closest to the sea, although you get a sea view from all rooms on levels 2 & 3. In block 1 we got sun on the balcony but in block 6 we got no sun. I would personally avoid rooms 121, 221, 321, 421, 621 and 724 because their door is right next to the block entrance door (from the road) and people return home late from bars and slam the entrance door. And as stated above, avoid blocks 6 & 7 if you can. In June 2012 we were told blocks 1-3 were closed for the summer (we were trying to transfer from our allocated room in block 6).

General info:

Parking is free on the street if you have a rental car, though avoid parking along side kerbs parked yellow and you have to pay for any parks surrounded with blue paint. It can be hard to find a park on weekends due to locals visiting the beach.

It's about 3 mins walk to the CITACentre (the one with the ugly child statue outside) - try Cafe Wein upstairs. It is about 15mins walk to the Yumbo Centre (Mamma Mia restaurant is good as are Es Fatal and Centre Stage bars. And of course there are the two famous cabaret bars too).

We have received a mixed opinion of the hotel, therefore many minuses in this review.
A dated hotel with a good location, a small kitchenette with inadequate equipment, a bathroom that should be tidied up.
Staff at the reception. At check-in the receptionist neither smiled nor said welcome, just breathed a sigh and we did not feel very welcome. Guests will not receive any information on arrival about the apartment and facilities at the hotel. The reception's opening hours did not match at all, sometimes it closed earlier than the door and often opened it later, otherwise it was too little open.
No remote control for TV in the room, bad picture on many channels and no free internet, wobbly internet for a fee, can not listen to music or see movies, still you should pay a fee.
The rooms at the hotel are very responsive, not for one who wants to sleep soundly and uninterruptedly at night.
The magnetic card to the entrance door works like that and can be a bit difficult to get in if you are tired or drunk in the evening and want to unlock the door, it does not work.
Poorly equipped kitchen, more pots needed, we found no wine glasses in a wine country like Spain, which surprised us. It accepts drinking wine from juice glasses that existed.
One distraction is that the cleaning staff starts running and shouting on the stairs very early, completely unnecessarily, they wake guests who are still asleep. If you're on vacation, you don't want to be woken up early. In the bathroom, towels and bed linen may not feel really clean, a more effective detergent for white laundry should be used.

Overall, it will be difficult to recommend this aparthotel.

We were also here five years ago. We especially liked the quiet location with a view over the beach and dunes. My wife enjoyed the view on the balcony where there was enough shade for her (Apartment 724 on the 34th floor, right next to the corner at the walking path, building 7) and I took long walks on the beach and through the dunes. Great to book half board through Prijsvrij and walk only 400 meters to Hotel Principado to enjoy the delicious breakfast buffet and varied dinner. It's also nice that the rental car can be parked in front of the building. The living room, bedroom and kitchen are simple but clean. Mattress a bit on the hard side. Very large refrigerator with freezer compartment. No air conditioning, which was a shame with the warm wind for a few days of Calima (desert sand from the Sahara).
It was very nice that we could still use the swimming pool with sun beds, shower and toilet in building 3 after 12 noon because we were not picked up until 2 p.m. All in all, definitely an address to return to. Rent a car from Cigar, great company with excellent service, and cheap!

A fanatically handsome place to be whether you want to spend quiet days and evenings as a couple or with the family. The apartments are simple but with good standards. We were 2 adults and 2 children and had 12 fantastic days here with its wonderful location right by the promenade to the beach playa del ingles and with walking distance to several sights. We've been here before and look forward to coming back again ⁇

The location is the best with this aparthotel. The pool looked good but it was full of pigeon feathers and other things floating. Disgusting and unfresh.
The maid probably did the best she could because the apartment is very worn. Sheets were changed only once during our stay which was two weeks.

Small appartments with nice seaview and lovely gardens and swimmingpools. The appartment was not big, but big enough for two people. We were 4 peoples and got appartment side by side. The complex had several small buildings with garden and pool outside each building. The apparments had some kitchen equipment so you cold make breakfast, lunch and dinner, if you wanted. Nice and clean. The bed was good to sleep in.
You can walk out from the garden and out to the beachwalk and down som stairs to come to the beach. Quiet area, but only 5-7 minutes walk up to the Cita shoppingcenter and some restaurants. I enjoided the 1 week stay very much, and I probably will stay there later, too.

We stayed here for a week in June. We stayed in Arco Iris 4. We had a ground floor apartment, and if we had had a top floor apartment, the score would have been excellent :-)
The apartment is nice and spacious. The terrasse was good for having breakfast before leaving to the beach and having a drink in the afternoon before going out. The place is very quiet and the garden with the pool nice and well kept.
The beds were not so good, and the bedroom is quite dark, but it was okay.
When we arrived we had to wait until four o'clock to get a safe, which was to bad as that ment that we had to bring all out money etc. with us or leave them in the apartment. Otherwise the service was fine and the apartment clean.
We might go back to this place another time :-)
