Fergus Cactus Garden has received mixed feedback; while the hotel's prime location near beaches and entertainment is widely commended, guests have expressed concerns about the value, citing extra charges and unmet expectations. The amenities including spacious rooms and a pool are often appreciated, although occasional issues with hot water and spa availability dampen the experience.
The service is generally celebrated for its friendly staff, despite isolated instances of unprofessional conduct. Cleanliness stands out positively, with the hotel maintaining high standards, and the vibrant atmosphere with entertainment options is a hit, although some guests desire more variety in activities.

Getting towards the end of the season one would expect the hotel to look slightly tired. Some of the stairs and corridors were clearly not being cleaned daily however the actual rooms we had were spotless. The rooms were cleaned daily to a high standard. Couple of moans here: the air-con did not adequately cool the room compared with many hotels we have stayed in, and fiddling with the controls seemed to make no difference. Only two sachets of instant coffee and two tea bags per day were left in the room daily and no bottled water after day one. Also UHT creamer rather than milk. Little things, I know, but we usually like to have at least a couple of coffees each to start our day. The restaurant was clean and the staff were always helpful. With regard to previous food reviews, I spent the entire week and never once had a portion of chips or pizza! Disappointing that some of the fruit offerings at breakfast were canned rather than fresh. Would normally expect a fresh fruit salad to be exactly that in this part of the world. Sometimes the choice of hot food of the day could be a bit interesting: grilled fish or goat meat was the choice one day, although both were delicious. Goat tasted similar to lamb. Two of our party are gluten intolerant and the staff always provided GF bread and clearly labelled food made this a stress-free holiday food-wise for them. There were some themed restaurant evenings, Asian/Italian/Oriental so a great deal of choice without the need to eat pizza and chips. Always plenty of fresh salads to choose from. Minor moans; the sweet offerings lacked a bit of variety, basically the same every day. So if you like ice-cream/mousse/jelly and creme caramel type desserts then you'll be fine. But don't go looking for fancy pastries and cakes. As with many such deals these days, all-inclusive does not actually mean that. So many branded drinks and anything other than the local house wines will cost you extra. The house wines are actually quite quaffable and the house beer is San Miguel which is fine. There is also a roof-top bar, which strangely, is only open two nights per week and nothing you get up there is included in the all-inclusive deal. Odd that. Round by the pool things can get a bit boisterous when the animation man is doing his stuff, but he's a great guy Ted, funny, chatty and always very enthusiastic. We had no problems getting sun-beds by the pool when we wanted them. All in all a good week's holiday, the hotel is close to shops and the beautiful beaches around a five-minute stroll across the main road.

We booked this Hotel on impulse from Hays Travel after seeing a deal in the window, usually we do flights, accommodation and car hire separately via the internet. The deal was a Jet2 package at a price as good as what I would have expected to spend on our usual self-catering.
First off, the gripes which on reading other reviews, are totally unnecessary and are getting the Hotel marked down. We opted for a standard room and were offered the option of a balcony upgrade, which we accepted. What we got was a ‘terrace’ AKA a corridor with a table and chairs outside the room. That’s the design of the hotel and I would be OK with it if it had been explained upfront.
I also fell foul of the water Stasi on our second week. Up to that point, I had been buying the bottled water when it was offered and using the water dispenser if the staff were snowed under keeping the restaurant stocked. If them is the rules, that’s OK, but it is unprofessional to berate guests in front of others and the water policy should be made absolutely clear up front.
OK, now the good stuff. The staff are second to none and are super hard working and friendly. It would be unfair to single out individuals as all were brilliant. However, Jose makes a wicked Gin & T
Food is good if somewhat repetitive, and allergens are labelled (my wife is coeliac) However, don’t take your eye off the ball as the odd error does creep in. GF bread is available on request.
The standard room with ‘balcony’ was well equipped with Kettle, TV, free safe and was quite spacious. The air con worked well, which was good as the room would be unbearably hot without it as there are no windows to get a through draught. Cleaning is done daily, again by hardworking staff who put in long hours. We only had two wildlife experiences. 1. Boris the spider, who was quickly evicted onto the ‘Balcony’ 2. Gordon the gecko, who stayed with us until the last day, when we showed him the door, in case the new occupants did not appreciate his insect eating services
The rooftop bar is a much better drinking experience than the pool bar, which can get somewhat noisy and raucous with the entertainment team. It is not open during the day though you can sit up there with your drink There is a screened off naturist area on the roof as well, alas no shade is available, which makes a quiet oasis unusable for many.
Location. On the Jandia strip. Lots of bar / restaurants, tourist tat shops and more upmarket stores. African market every Thursday for those in need of a Louis Vuitton handbag or Rolex. The hotel has a huge beach on the doorstep with sunbeds (Council owned) and beach bars. Note that if nudity offends you, head south in the direction of Moro Jable. I would also recommend getting a hire car to explore the island. There is a CiCar office near the hotel, they are a reputable company. Parking can be hard to find near the hotel
To sum up, an enjoyable two weeks, and I would consider returning if the right deal was available

We've just go back from our week stay here and loved it 😊 Check in was very easy and quick and the room is very spacious and we had a balcony so nice views, beds are comfy personally would have preferred 2 pillows but still slept well every night. Room has mini fridge so can keep water in there (they provide 1 bottle when you arrive) and Aircon and a decent size bathroom with nice shower and bottles of shampoo, conditioner, soap and body lotion all with aloe Vera in so soothing if you have burnt which I thought was a good extra touch. All staff in this hotel are amazing, not been to hotel before where they remember you and they want you to have the best holiday. Few members suggested places on the island for us to visit which we did and they were stunning. They weren't just there serving drinks like in most hotels they were willing to chat to you and make sure you're enjoying your holiday. Entertainment (Rami) was very good always getting everyone involved and I particularly liked how the entertainment was all through out the day not just the evening and when it was too windy for one of the activities he got a different game out instead which was nice better than just sitting by the pool. Evening entertainment was good variety and always enjoyable could do with more chairs as sometimes struggled to find a seat. Pool was lovely and decent size however sometimes struggled to find sunbeds or had one behind the shower wall so not a great view 😂 Food was your average all inclusive nothing special. We both lived off salads for the week. They do have pizza but if you're not there when dinning opens then you might not get any as I don't think they replenished the pizza. On the first night everything was cold so kind of put us off eating it. There are loads of restaurants around that do good cheap food which we didn't mind visiting occasionally. Overall I very good experience and would definitely consider coming back ☺️ Tip for people who haven't been Fuerteventura before the evenings are quiet windy so bring layers which we weren't prepared for 😂

In the room water stains on the bathroom ceiling, no warm water or water temperature fluctuating for days, in some places (such as the dining room, corridors) paint crumbles from the walls. Rooms on the upper floors with nice side sea views, but these must be booked separately (extra charge), upgrade possible on site for 70 euros/night/person. Room was ok, solid three-star standard. AI includes soft drinks, coffee, wine, beer, as well as small selection of cocktails and spirits (all locally made products) at the bar, everything else must be paid for, with non-included drinks at the rooftop bar discounting 50 percent for AI+ guests. Fitness room is about 12 square meters small with cardio machine and weights. Spa with small pool, small sauna, small steam bath, is free for AI+ guests for one hour a week - when visiting the three showers were broken (so wellness/sauna without shower), in the middle, cables looked out of the wall when the electronic control of the shower. Pool rather small, few loungers, two sun terraces each with a hot tub and loungers. In the dining room with many guests great volume, food without variety, recurring, low quality. Has not been improved even after complaint (e.g. 2x meat in 6 days, otherwise only tuna or fish of inferior quality, no cheese selection in the evening, for breakfast always only white bread and white rolls, always fried eggs, 1x scrambled eggs, 1x omelet within a week, coffee bitter, milk coffee with sweetened milk, for breakfast only from vending machines, dinner until 21.30, food selection from 21 o'clock and partly earlier severely restricted, since it is no longer replenished, the same at breakfast). Location of the hotel good, 10 minutes from the beach, parking available. Cleanliness leaves something to be desired (under the bed undefinable items that have not been removed despite complaint, in the corridors partly cockroaches, trash cans are not emptied, solidified sand in a hot tub, next to it inadequately cleaned toilets, used coffee mugs in the room put uncleaned in the bathroom)

Hotel is approx 1hr 45min by coach or 1hr by taxi (140 euro). We had requested a room near reception or lift and this was accommodated we chose this hotel specifically as it was smaller due to my mobility issues. The hotel is spotless clean in all areas 2 small lifts available which can get busy. There is a pool with children's section and enough sunbeds for the number of people there. I can only think how busy it must be in summer and how it would struggle without the sun decks on floors 7 and 9. We had chosen a suite style room as our son was with us and he was able to sleep on the fold out sofa. I personally felt the room was configured wrongly, the beds should have been where the sofa was as it was dark and had direct access to the bathroom and wardrobes and the bedroom area would have been better as the sitting area as that's were the TV and mini fridge were and access to the patio. There was a table and 2 chairs with a drying rail on the balcony with a partial view of the pool. The room was cleaned daily and fresh towels provided if wanted. Only once in the 9 nights did we have an issue with hot water in the shower otherwise it was great large with 2 shower heads. Food is buffet style and I cannot express how good the food was throughout our stay staff work really hard to ensure tables are cleared but there can be issues if your in a family group as most tables are set for 2 people. There is plenty of choice for breakfast, lunch and evening meal and you help yourself to soft drinks, coffees and draught beer and wine. At the pool bar you can get burger and chips or cheese and ham toasties all afternoon. The pool bar is the only all inclusive bar which did cause a few issues with people going up to the other sun decks as shade covered the pool area by 4pm but there is no AI bar so people were ordering 8 or 9 drinks at a time to take up and bar staff did start to refuse this. Don't understand why the bar on the 9th floor is only open at weekend evenings and is a pay bar as this is a Healthy & Safety issue waiting to happen carrying drinks up and down in the lifts. Louis the entertainment person was brilliant really nice bloke encouraging people to join in daily activities without being pushy but even he had to conceded that the pool was just to cold and cancelled the aqua aerobics after going in himself after hearing people complaining. This really was our only disappointment as we couldn't go in the pool it really was freezing cold and is why we rated it 4 out of 5. Evening entertainment was good even the quizzes were good fun again we noticed as the pool bar is the location of the evening entertainment people had to resort to sitting on sun loungers as there wasn't enough tables and chairs. Would not hesitate to stay here again but not in summer when it would be far to busy for the space available.

This review is from a family of 3! We arrived at the hotel late, was left food but it was mainly left over bread and salad! I emailed the hotel a week before to ask if we could have an upgrade as this was a belated 30th birthday celebration, nothing had been done. Beatrice (reception) said we can pay €70 for a sea view upgrade otherwise the way the rooms are you are just looking at a wall. We upgraded and the view was lovely! Room was standard, small double sofa bed and two single beds pushed together, bathroom was lovely with complementary shampoo, conditioner, aleo vera. Maids are lovely and do a good job, ware and tear in the room but nothing is perfect. Didn’t affect our stay. Food: was appalling it was just pasta, chips, bread some meat on different days but nothing for kids! Breakfast was the best meals of the day with the omelette station. Drinks: variety of soft drinks, some selection of cocktails, only san miguel on tap, no good if you drink cider. Entertainment: there is a kids club, which is used in a morning, TEDDY made the entertainment! He was amazing, but he was on his own trying to juggle the kids club, entertainment and activities through the day and then night time! Overall we enjoyed the entertainment but Teddy is wasted at this hotel! The pool is salty and you need to shower off after the pool or you will burn! We learnt the hard way! Trying to get a sun-bed and an umbrella was hard most days the hotel can’t accommodate a lot of people due to lack of space to relax and also eat. Pool bar snacks were good definitely a must for my 6 year old! Hotdogs, burgers and sandwiches.
Lifeguard: waste of time, sits up on the next level and they hardly move, there was a few incidents with children but all the families helped each other.
A lady came round on the 19th July to ask for feedback of the hotel. My feedback was that there is no kids option for food, the air con isn’t the best for how hot it had been getting, they wanted to cut our wrist bands off at 12 noon for check out even though we had paid for the full week. (We left ours on). More choice is needed for food (steak, chicken). The ice cream wasn’t topped up much so missed out on some. I noticed on 21st July that she had listened to my comments and applied a kids station….. (your all welcome) 🙂 The lift takes time to come as there are only two and there are 9 flights! The top floor being half nudist, 6th floor has sun beds and a Jacuzzi. Overall: we enjoyed our stay as we made the most of it, made some lovely friends. Location isn’t the best but the beach is lovely.

The good points - amazing location, right by the most beautiful beach and the main shopping strip, which has plenty of restaurants and shops. About a 30 min walk to the old town too. Rooms were spacious and clean Food was nice Majority of staff were really friendly and welcoming Roof top terrace with jacuzzi was lovely Has a small spa which you can hire for a hour each day for free with exclusive use The not so good points- Drinks included in the all inclusive did not taste good and all other branded drinks cost 7 euros, the roof top bar which was a selling point had no drinks included in the all inclusive and is only open 2 nights a week for a few hours Not enough parasols poolside and none available on the roof terrace ( only 7 in total Charge for pool towels( deposit of 10 euros per towel which u get back at the end of holiday but a charge of 2.50 euro which u dont get back everytime u want to change it) Beds made up as two singles and then pushed together

I booked the hotel with my husband and spent a week there. I'm super happy with everything. The room is cleaned daily. Bed linen and towels are not changed daily, but in my opinion they don't have to be. You can rent a large pool towel for a deposit of €10. Because there are no small children in the hotel, it is very quiet here. The location of the hotel is perfect! It's just a few minutes walk from the beach. We could see the sea from our balcony. We had all-inclusive and the buffet offered a lot of choice. There was country-specific cuisine every day - everything was very tasty! The highlight was the animation program, which Remi carried out every day. He always put everyone in a good mood and was always very helpful. We would definitely come back!

We stayed at Fergus Cactus hotel for 7 nights. Everything from the beginning to the moment of our departure was great. Transfer from the airport was excellent, pretty much straight away upon our arrival. At the reception I was greeted by a wonderful, extremely caring and professional member of the hotel Marina. She really made our stay amazing! We wanted to upgrade our room and Marina has found for us an excellent accommodation. Every time we were going in our room we were so happy we had an upgrade: the view was stunning, the room was spacious, modern and very pleasant! And every time when I had a query, Marina was knowledgeable and always helpful with the great smile. Grazie dal cuore, carissima Marina!!! I will never forget how great you have looked after us! Thank you ! Facilities were exactly as described and presented on the photos. We took all inclusive option and I must admit the food was always plentiful and variety to suit every taste. The staff at the restaurant was always replenishing, tidying up, setting up the tables. They all worked continuously serving the hotel guests. We felt very welcomed and looked after. Another valid point: the location of the hotel. It’s in the close vicinity to all the shops and it only takes less than 10 minutes to walk to the sea side. The beach was brilliant, not overcrowded, with beautiful white sand and clear turquoise water. We enjoyed every moment of our stay. I wish I booked for 10 days! We were lucky enough to experience a spa day and massage. Both therapist Monica and Stefania were amazing! Will highly recommend booking a massage session at the hotel spa! All in all I would definitely like to come back again to stay in Fergus Cactus hotel.

Advanatages: The hotel's location is great. Maria at the reception listened to my complaints and offered compensation. Lunches were okay, and dinners were decent. Though crowded, the jacuzzi on the upper floor was a nice feature. Very spacious room with a safe, though I didn’t even need such a large room.
Disadvantages: One day, I found a piece of glass in my food and almost swallowed it. I informed the waiter, but they didn’t speak English, and no one followed up with an apology or compensation. The bathroom had a bad smell, which spread throughout the entire room, likely coming from the drains in the shower and toilet. The "double room" turned out to be a twin room with two separate beds that were just set close together. We attended the Christmas Gala on 25.12.2024, but no one informed us of the cost beforehand. We were shocked by the bill after dinner. It was overpriced and not worth the price. There was no prior information about the price, which felt like a lack of communication and a violation of consumer rights. Breakfast was repetitive, with no smoked salmon, avocado, or blue cheese—only cheap canned ham slices. Boiled eggs, a basic breakfast item, were served only a few times, and one day there were no tomatoes. Sweet buns were the same every day. Boring, repetitive breakfasts. Lunch ran out quickly, and by the end of the lunch hour, there were few items left. Dinners saved the situation. Desserts and cakes were the same every day, with only cream and no variety—new cakes only appeared during the Gala. Breakfast was poor, and there was a lack of seafood, especially shrimp, which were only served once during the Gala and once more in the 7 days. The service (even at the reception) doesn’t speak English well (apart from Maria and one young man). The pool on the ground floor is small. The jacuzzi on the upper floor was always crowded, and it was hard to find time for yourself or wait for your turn. All day long full of kids.
