Last visited the hotel before Covid-19 and booked in January 2021 for an October visit – so hoping that we would be able to go. Fortunately, we were. Covid-19 rules were in evidence – spacing, hand sanitiser, wearing of masks etc. Staff and guests were compliant – no whinging about mask wearing and everyone respecting each other’s space. Please to report that although things were different in several ways, the hotel is still fabulous – the setting, the rooms, restaurant, Star Prestige Bar etc. However, as before, what sets the hotel apart is the amazing staff. Stayed in the same room as last time – with a fabulous balcony, overlooking the sea, with chairs, sun-beds and jacuzzi. The room is well equipped with coffee machine, kettle, fridge, laptop sized fridge, huge bed and a sofa etc. There is a large jacuzzi bath in the room, along with the sink, mirrors, magnifying mirror etc. Toilet and shower cubicle are in a small room, with proper door. The shower is incredibly powerful, water a consistent temperature. Dispensers for hand wash, body wash, shampoo, conditioner and moisturiser are fixed to walls. Quality is good, apart from moisturiser, which took some rubbing in. The room, bathroom and balcony were serviced every day and there was a turn-down service most evenings. House-keeping was very low key, although efficient, so didn’t get to know who was servicing our room most days – an exception was Saba, who we saw a couple of times. Mini bar was topped up with water, beer, Cava and soft drinks, daily – if required. We opted for ‘Star Prestige All-Inclusive’ and though it is impossible to get your ‘money’s worth’ – we highly recommend it. The Star Prestige Bar is staffed by a great bunch of people – the star in our experience, being Gonzalo. Drinks were noticeably superior when he was on shift. Sorry if I’ve missed anyone, but Vero, Katerina, Toni and Amanda also looked after us well. We did notice that not everyone was fluent in English, but nonetheless we managed to communicate. The vista is amazing. The main buffet restaurant is excellent. Plenty of choice at breakfast, lunch and dinner. Covid-19 safety precautions work well and it is so nice to be able to self-select what you want to eat. The view from the restaurant is spectacular. There were differences with our last visit in September 2019 – missed the more diverse selection of fruit this time and some displays were toned down – this was probably due in part, to the hotel being less busy than on our previous visit. However, no complaints. Of particular note, is the bread – it must be made on the premises (I meant to ask) – amazing choice of such fresh and delicious types, with tomato bread being my particular favourite. It is possible to eat healthily or not – great choice of salads and desserts at lunch and dinner. Live cooking station for chicken, salmon, fish, meat etc. Always some kind of pasta and pizza. Decent all-inclusive wine, served by the glass or bottle. We were well looked after in the restaurant by Ricardo, Atanas, Tatiana, Gloria, Jose and Felix throughout our stay. The local town is not the most salubrious, (it’s not awful though), and we were more than happy to have all our culinary needs met by the hotel. Area is however fine for walking and there are plenty of shops a few minutes’ walk away, where you can pick up things you’ve forgotten and the usual souvenirs, should you wish. Covid-19 has had a devastating effect on tourism and hospitality – it is so good that Jardín Del Sol Suites has survived, and we thank everyone who made our stay so special and (almost) normal. Really hope to stay there again.

I stayed at Iberostar Jardin del Sol from Oct. 2nd to Oct. 9th, with my mom and sister, for a quick quite holiday under the Spanish sun. My mother and I had been here before, in 2019, and our experience had been excellent, so we decided to go back, and book a Star Prestige room this time. The upgrade was worth it as far the common spaces went: swimming pools, pool bars and snacks reserved to SP members were top notch. The room, howeverc was no different than the one we were given two years back, except it was farther away and we had to take two sets of elevators to reach the restaurant. Our luggage wasn’t brought to and from the room on arrival and departure day, even though we arrived at 9pm. The food is really good, as it was two years ago, and the personnel at the restaurant and the bar were just as nice, unobtrusive and efficient as we remembered. Reception staff, however, seem to have declined in quality compared to two years ago. They were most unhelpful when it came to explaining where and how to enjoy the full Star Prestige experience, and they were particularly unhelpful when we asked - three times - whether we could enjoy late checkout on the day of our departure, as our flight would be leaving in the evening. They kept saying we should ask on the same day. Now, onto the reason why this is a good experience turned bad: we forgot an (important and expensive) item in the room. I have been calling for the past three days, since we realised it was missing from our room, and the reception says “they have no information for now”. Whatever this means. The reason why this is unacceptable is as follows: For two days before our departure we asked for late checkout. Finally, on the morning of the same day, we asked again and were granted the late checkout (halleujia!), against a fee of 45€, which we accepted to pay. However, this non entirely negligible fee evidently included *just* the room occupancy, as we received no housekeeping. Please note that, on normal days, the housekeeper would come TWICE to clean the room and check the towels. However, to keep a room for 6 additional hours (from 11am to 5pm) and a fee of 45€, our room was left in utter chaos. And what happens when you prepare your luggage and your departure in a room left in chaos is, you forget things. Now, if all the personnel at this hotel was as honest and pleasant as the people working at the restaurant and the bar, I’m certain our item would be found. Instead, it looks like someone (perhaps the housekeeper?) decided to keep it, and/or the reception staff has decided that investigating this is not worth their time - just like it wasn’t worth their time accompanying three ladies to their room, or showing them around, or checking room availability to confirm late checkout was available anytime sooner than on the day of our departure. A true disappointment, considering we were planning on coming back next year for another end-of-season holiday. I guess they prefer to keep their loud and cheap northern-european clientele, who isn’t likely to forget anything other than a pair of sandals&socks.

That was fantastic stay. We have booked prestige suite and it was worth it. The facilities seem better and service goes mile further. Positives: -> Views from the hotel, room - outstanding (Sunset to die for) -> Rooms are spacious with baths, sofa -> super comfortable beds -> Cleanliness excellent -> very good facilities (pools, bars, restaurants, lounge areas etc) -> Breakfast - great choice, fanstastic views from terrace in the restaurant -> some decent evening entertainment (Queen Tribute Band was outstanding) -> mostly great service Negatives: -> Location of hotel is good if you planning stay in the hotel and chill. There is not much in the area - just average bars and restaurant. For more quality evening, probably need to go to Port Andratx (if you have a car) -> If you have a car, could be challenge to find the spot in the evening (hotel does not provide any parking spaces) -> The gym is extremely basic (and small) -> Room entertainment - is typical for such hotels 20 years ago - number of TV channels from UK, DE and E. - what about Netflix, YT - mirror screening for digital devices? -> no place in the room to work on the laptop (or to write anything) -> Super thin walls. We could easily hear next door sexual adventures. And neighbous were banging the wall at midnight when we were just talking (as the could not sleep). -> Lack of some basic hygienic supplies like cotton buds, pads etc. -> On the last day we have booked paddling for 4pm. When we arrived, we have been told that water is slightly turbulent and appointment has been cancelled. Apparently that is the case often in the afternoon. If we were told that at the reception in the morning, we would have differently plan the day - as a result we have missed on this activity - dissapointing. Not to mention, that other hotels were doing paddling till late time this evening. -> Finally, we were given few options for breakfast shifts. We have chosen the late one - 09:30. However, at that time some dishes were already empty and not being replenished. If that is the case - do not invite people so late and stick to 2 shifts. In general, really good hotel (maybe even the best in the area) - but definitiely not excellent

This was our first holiday since 2019 and we could not have picked a better destination. We booked Star Prestige and All Inclusive and it was our intention to do nothing other than lounge by the pool and drink cocktails. We managed this with ease! We arrived after a fraught journey made more difficult by being let down with the special assistance we had booked in advance and by the time we got there, my partner was in medical difficulty and we needed a private space where this could be sorted. Our check in was not for another 3 hours but I cannot fault the staff at all once they had understood that this medical issue needed more than a seat in reception and a glass of water as they took us to the nearest room that was available and let us have the use of it for 15 minutes or so that we needed to sort the issue. Adama and Carmen were especially supportive with this. Reception were also only too willing to assist in printing out the documentation for us needed to get back home (James and Carmen). In general, all the staff were pleasant and efficient and very very helpful. We were eventually allocated 2619 which is pretty far away from anything, in fact the last room and was a corner suite. We were more than happy with this. The room was an excellent size, absolutely spotless and the facitlities were more than adequate for us. It was well equipped and I became obsessed with the smell of the handwash which was divine! We also had a stocked minibar and there was a bottle of fizz on ice and 2 glasses waiting for us. The view from the balcony was stunning. Food - we were AI and everything was in the buffet restaurant located on 4th floor. They set up vague meal times for you at check in - breakfast between 8.30 and 9.30am for us, dinner between 1 and 1.45 (although we didn't tend to go for dinner as we were stuffed from breakfast still and quite happily settled on sunbeds) and tea between 6.30 and 7.30pm. These were the times we chose out of the offers and it is done to manage the amount of people in the restaurant at any one time in mind with safe distancing and general covid precautions. The food was excellent and there was a huge variety to choose from at all mealtimes. It was hot, well presented and the staff were forever cleaning the area, changing over the utensils and replenishing the food stocks. Even the fussiest of eaters would fnd something to eat. My only thing was that perhaps the various meats were not as well cooked as I like them. I won't eat anyting if it looks like it might be capable of still mooing, oinking, baahing or clucking and sometimes the sausages looked very questionable! There is a one way system round the area that is easy to follow and the tables have been set up socially distanced. We picked the same table for every meal inside and it is amazing how quickly the staff get used to you and what you drink etc. The absolute star character in the restaurant is Fernando. On his day off we really missed him. He has a great personality and chatters with all the guests. As he has been there 31 years I think he likes his job! Drinks - well we decided to work our way through the cocktail menu and over the course of the week sampled all of them and some of them more than once. The bar staff were very efficient and in particular Toni, Pedro and Kiko. Toni remembered our drinks preferences and was always happy to bring them out to the pool. Pedro remembered our names from the very first time we met him and Kiko was just so friendly and chatty. Covid - this hotel cannot be faulted for their covid measures in place. Everything is spotless and the staff were forever cleaning things down, regularly replacing things and all staff wore masks at all times. All guests had to wear masks in all public areas except when laid on a sunbed, eating or drinking , in the pool and of course on your own balcony or room. There were handwashing and hygiene stations everywhere and instructions regarding using them, even before/after pressing the lift button. The Housekeeping staff deserve the highest praise for this and also for cleaning of our room every day, sometimes twice. Location - set a little up the hill outside Santa Ponsa, it is quiet and has breathtaking views over the bay. All rooms have sea views. You can walk into SP itself in about 15/20 mins but we didn't bother. This is the first hotel ever where I have spent the entire duration of a holiday without leaving it once such was the quality. Negative points - there was a lack of information available. Normally there are details in rooms giving instructions about pool towels, maps of the place etc but there was none of this and in fact it was very difficult to find out anything. To see a drinks/snacks/bar menu everything was barcoded that you had to scan. That is great if you have a smartphone but not so great if you don't. I get why it has been removed from rooms but there is nothing to stop something laminated being attached to a wall in the room. Our last night was thoroughly spoilt and this was not really the fault of the staff in any way but they did not have the resources to deal with it. At 00.40am on our final night as we were due to be getting up at 6am to leave to go home, our entire row was woken up by a new arrival middle aged man who had overdone it on the all inclusive alcohol and decided to be singing and shouting at the top of his voice. Unfortunately, he had moved into the room next door to us. I was one of many guests who went out to ask him to be quiet. As he was in the next room to us, unfortunately me and my partner were then subjected to a filthy torrent of racist, sexist and homophobic abuse that carried on for approx 20 minutes until he eventually staggered into his room to throw up (which I did think he was going to do over the side of the fire escape stairs). My partner did call reception and they could actually hear this man (he told us his name was Richard from Holland) and said he would sort it. He never arrived to sort it. We found out that it was because he was on his own and we were too far away. Sherriff did ring us back later to see if we were ok. I was fine but my partner was very upset and intimidated by him and the pure vileness of the things he repeatedly said to us. Seeing Sheriff the next morning at reception, he did explain there was little he could do except if the man had continued he would phone the police. It wasn't the issue about the noise so much, it was the fact that this man could verbally abuse in a racist, sexist and homophobic manner with no consequences. This is not what we expected in this establishment as it was generally excellent but that one incident did leave a sour taste. Staff cannot legislate for a man who becomes aggressive and abusive to 2 female guests when he is drunk but they could maybe review how they would deal with such incidents as this if they occur in the future to anyone as unfortunate as us. 100% we will be returning as this is one of the best hotels I have ever stayed in in Europe. ps: i would have uploaded more photos but for some reason, even though they were the right way up on my screen, when uploaded to TA they were upside down!
