FERGUS Style Cala Blanca Suites has garnered mixed reviews, with guests praising the friendly staff and lively atmosphere, yet many find the hotel doesn't live up to 4-star expectations, particularly noting extra charges and value concerns. While the location is admired for its proximity to beaches, some have mentioned a less appealing neighborhood.
The amenities, including the pool, often feel overcrowded and the rooms, despite offering pleasant views, suffer from cleanliness issues and dated decor. Nonetheless, the hotel's cleanliness in common areas receives positive remarks.

Detailed Reviews
Just back from a week away at the Fergus Cala Blanca Suites Santa Ponca. We only booked just over a week before we went and took a few days to decide if we should risk travelling and what extras we needed to do (testing, form filing, c-19 rules etc). Once we got our heads around it and made sure we organised everything before we went we had a great time.
The hotel was fantastic, reception staff were really welcoming, friendly and knowledgable.
Our room was what we needed, there were 5 of us (3 kids aged 9 and 13) and they were big enough for us to sleep, change and have a night cap.
The restaurant was good breakfasts had pretty much everything you could want pastries, continental, cereal, fruit, yoghurts, cooked etc. Lunch had a small range compared to evening but always something lovely salads, burgers and hotdogs, pizza, pasta and freshly cooked meats and fish.
Evening meals had a wider range of meats and fish with pizza, pasta, salads etc with some theme nights, Mexican, Chinese and India.
Snacks are served from the pool bar with hot snacks from 3pm each day. My kids loved the cone of chips 🍟
The entertainment staff employed by the hotel are fantastic they encourage without being over the top and do take no for an answer.
The evening entertainment provided by the hotel was hit and miss (we didn’t stay to watch all of the shows) but can highly recommend the African Acrobatic show.
Would we recommend this hotel yes we would but just be aware that when full (or close to full) the pool area is small and a little cramped.
Santa Ponca is a lovely location and the beach a short 15 min walk down hill is lovely 13.50 euros for 2 beds and a parasol.

Just got back from this hotel and have read some of the negative reviews which most I don't agree with! The food was nice and they had theme nights, during our stay they had Mexican, Chinese, Indian, seafood themes alongside the buffet food the only bit I do agree with is there wasn't really a kids section. The restaurant staff are so friendly and genuinely lovely. I think he is the restaurant manager and he always greeted everyone they all went above and beyond to any request! I agree with the comment that it is not a beachfront location as it is dried seaweed and the sea is full of rocks and very slippery, it also attracts locals to walk there dogs or gather with friends it does make a beautiful view nethertheless. The cleanliness of the rooms was OK, we went to the santa ponsa beach which is about a 15 mins walk away during our stay and the sand we brought back with us was still all over 2 days later until we asked if she could sweep for us. The night time entertainment was also OK, the animation are so full of energy and great with the kids an every night they had entertainment on for the adults from quizzes to win a bottle of wine, bingo to win a free trip to the adult rooftop terrace or outside entertainment the hotel hired we had a male trio who were really good, a michael Jackson tribute amongst many others. I also felt sorry for the horses we visited them once and one was eating its own poo, there was no visible food or water and we asked at reception about it to be told they get visited 3 times per day, they only had a little hut with no shelter from the sun or any grass to graze, the poor things must be so bored and hot! They should either have a better environment or not be there! The sunbed issue wasn't really an issue for us but it does get very busy with no social distancing. Overall we did have a lovely stay and would probably return.

Dear laureno1989, Thank you for taking the time to submit your feedback in respect of your recent stay with us at our FERGUS Style Cala Blanca Suites. We are glad to know that you liked our hotel. Be assured we have noted your feedback about offering a wider section in the restaurant for the little ones which has been duly reported to our Management team to look into it. Regarding our ponies, we appreciate your point of view and we can assure you the are very well cared for and pretty pampered, And as for the beach, please note that its conditioning is currently run by the city council and given the unstable weather conditions during the last weeks, it has been unfortunately delayed. However, we do hope it will be soon available for our guests to enjoy. Thanks for choosing FERGUS Group. Looking forward to seeing you again in the future. 2 Adults and 2 children under 7 stayed for 7 days. Firstly let me say we enjoyed our holiday overall however the hotel wasn't quiet what we expected.
This hotel is a 3* not a 4*, they need to improve thir facilities to be the latter.
We stayed in a suite with partial see view, the rooms are big enough for family and have a decent balcony but that's all the positives. You get better quality beds/showers/towels/aircon in a Premier Inn. Double beds are 2 singles pushed together and not linked so easily split during the night. No face towels, bath matt, dressing gowns, safe was broken and only 1 bottle of water for a family of 4 per day. Night lights don't work in the room, their air con system needs updating. When you make a request it takes them 2 hrs to respond.
The hotels staff are excellent and the animation team are the heart and soul of the hotel. The swimming pool area is too small when the hotel is full, but we got sunbeds whenever we needed them, as the hotel was only full for our last day. The food is ok and they try to have a different theme each night along side their staple items, the quality is reasonable but it is mahem when they are at full capacity. The wine is cheap and just about palatable for an all inclusive their spirits and beers are ok with mixers, but they are not very imaginative with their daily cocktails so prepare to have pina coladas most days. It is frustrating that you can't have a coffee etc in the restaurant at dinner and have to go to the bar to get it, if you want any drinks throughout the day you have to walk to the pool bar at the other end of the hotel because they do not want to open the main bar until 6pm. The bar man at the pool bar is also temperamental but he is very busy all day and the snacks are very limited for most of the day, you even have to pay for crisps/snacks with your drink. The all inclusive options are very limited outside of meal times. I would not book to stay in this hotel again the pictures are deceiving. Without the nice staff I would give this 2*s

If you enjoy standing in a 45 min queue for breakfast, lunch and dinner and to join another queue get a drink at the 1 bar they have then this is the place for you.
1 buffet restaurant, tiny a la carte (joined to the buffet) no kids allowed.
Pool freezing and always in the shade due to the position of a building directly opposite. You cannot reserve sun beds, first come first served - cards were placed on beds giving 40 min warning for removal of items.
Assistant Manager very rude and unhelpful, wasn’t interested in our complaint. You have to rent pool towels with a refundable deposit, you also have to pay a deposit for the safe and daily rental. Adults only area is charged at €20 per day!
Giuseppe on reception was extremely helpful when we took our complaint to him, but sadly he could only pass onto the assistant manager. No one addressed our complaints and the AM refused to make eye contact with us for the remainder of our stay.
We ate out 5 of the all inclusive 7 night stay.
Games room for kids open in 2 hr blocks, morning, afternoon and 9.30pm.
Lots of activities for small children. Tweens are not allowed to join in adult activities.
Rooms were very clean - avoid floor 3 (our floor) it’s directly above the kids play area and ping pong table is on the go from 8am, it’s also the main racing area for the kids!!
I would find somewhere else to go.

We stayed at the Fergus Suites between 4th and 14th August 2021.
Positives… Some for the most helpful and welcoming staff you will meet. Hotel is well maintained and the grounds are in great shape. Plenty of lifts and stairs across the hotel. Located in a quieter part of town, but just a 15 min walk to the main beach. Food was really nice and a good spread of options. Not much queuing to get drinks or food (although this got worse as the hotel got busier towards the end of our stay). Nice balcony with some of the nicest sunsets you will see. Air conditioning is good. We had a sunbed pretty much where we wanted it every day just walking down to the pool at 8:45am for the 9am opening. There is a good sized pool for younger kids with slides, and they little ones always seemed to being having a great time with the kids club. The hotel sits right on the sea at Cala Blanca and has direct access from the hotel. There is entertainment and a kids disco every night.
Negatives… rooms are a bit small for a family of 4 in a suite, its really just somewhere to sleep. You can not watch the TV or access the bathroom or balcony without going through the lounge converted into the kids bedroom – so you basically all have to go to bed at the same time. You can not get away from the fact that the main pool is small for the number of guests. Inflatables are banned from the main pool but footballs and volleyballs are not. How hard you take the inevitable blow to the head depends on how feral the teenagers are. There didn’t seem to be too much for teenagers to do apart from a big group and push the boundaries of the lone over worked pool attendant. There is no easy way to get into the sea from the little cove (Cala Blanca) in front of the hotel as its really rocky and you can not see the sharp rocks due to the seaweed, the beach is just sea weed. Unless you eat early and sit through the kids disco you will struggle to get a seat for evening entertainment. There is not a lot of options around the hotel for ‘outside’ food / drinks unless you are into the lower end of Irish bars that make up ‘The Square’. You can tell if anywhere is half decent as its rammed.
Overall the Fergus Suites is a solid place to have a family holiday. I thought it was pretty good value for money overall as an establishment and they offered a good range of services. You will not have a bad holiday if you stay here. Would we go back, probably not, but that is a reflection of the resort as a whole not being quite what we would look for. My kids (11 and 13) had a great time and that is all that really matters.

This was the first hotel I’ve been to outside the uk since before the original lockdown. Was a good experience.
Most staff are welcoming and helpful especially at reception and in the restaurant/buffet. Bar staff are very polite and welcoming and had some good banter. Some outside bar staff and chefs were a bit snappy at times towards the children which was disappointing (one even saying he didn’t enjoy his job when questioned about his behaviour).
Room was a decent size (booked the superior suite). Great walk in wardrobe and the air conditioning was in good working order. A member of staff guided us to our room quoting “you guys have a great view”. There was a palm tree blocking the whole sea view. Yes, the view is not included in the services section on the website but don’t tell me I have a great view when there’s a huge tree blocking it. I guess if you’re a fan of palm trees, this views for you.
The all inclusive buffet is the best I’ve had in years. Great food selection and service. The signs near the food choices aren’t always accurate so if you have dietary issues, please clarify with staff what each item is.
The pool is fairly small but good fun. I recommend doing the water aerobics/exercise. There’s a ban on sun bed reserving which is great because people who reserve sun beds just to go out the whole day are the worst kind of people. They should just sit on the floor.
Covid wise: I don’t usually include this in my reviews but I will as some people take it a lot more seriously than others. There is not a lot of social distancing in the outdoor areas including the seating area by the stage and by the pool. There are a lot of hand sanitisers around and they do have a strict mask rule inside the hotel and buffet area.

We arrived on Monday, lovely welcome from reception. Our room was not ready but we put our bags in the baggage room and got changed and was allowed to use the facilities right away and our room was ready within the hour. Lovely and clean room and facilities at all times. Good entertainment throughout the day for all ages, children under 4 must be accompanied for kids club and some activities like shirt painting were an additional fee. All the children including my daughter have loved the mini disco which has been on each night. The entertainment team work so hard through the day and night and are a wonderful asset to the hotel.
Good food selection, not much for children other than the snack bar which is made to order and is a long queue and long wait time (30 minutes plus).
We used the hotel pool with a small floating ring for my daughter who is accompanied at all times but on the 4th day was told by a new life guard this was not allowed meaning all the children had to stay in the baby pool which is far to shallow and if on holiday as a family means you can't all go in the pool together. When I spoke to reception about this I was informed floats were not allowed in the hotel and we needed to go to the beach. Even thoughwe have paid a lot of money for an all inclusive service. The life guard then put all children in the small pool even though Children had been allowed the first half of the week making the children pool over crowded which my daughter did not like and this isn't even during the school holidays. Adult only indoor pool had children in all day. The young male life guard ignored us when speaking to him and was very rude. Bar staff and restaurant staff were lovely and always helpful and accommodating and milk was provided when asked upon in the room with water replenished every day with lovely views. Overall a lovely hotel slightly over priced compared to previous more enjoyable family holidays.
Definitely not a 4 star hotel. Booked via Jet2 holidays, a pictures were quite impressive, but on arrival it was very disappointing.
Receptionist was very friendly, but didn't explain locations of indoor pool or the jacuzzi or even the hours of operation.
Room are very spacious, but very outdated. Bathtub paint peeling off which clearly shows it was painted over rather than just upgrading the whole system.
TV very outdated, English channels locked unable to Chromecast anything from phone for the kids to watch so we're bored constantly when in the room. Wi-fi is non existent in the rooms, unless you go to the very corner of the balcony.
Food was very British all day, as if they were the main tourist they cater too, very very basic.
Entertainment same thing every day, mini disco and quiz night.
The price you pay for this hotel you can get same or better as there are other 4 star hotels nearby that are more modern and better quality.
Management also need to learn some manners. I was sitting by the pool while the lifeguard was clearing up, apparently he hadn't have any official shorts left so was wearing his own, and this gentleman in a white shirt and a woman in red dress,, decide to have a go at him in front of all the guests as if we don't understand Spanish. Word of advice if you wanna speak with your staff do take them into s private room, do not downgrade then in front of your guests as you never know who understands Spanish.
They could clean up the beach which is just a rock stone away from the pool, but instead it's super filthy unable to take some chairs or even a towel to lay by the sea, so you have to resort sitting by the pool which does get crammed up. It's clear this hotel hasn't been managed properly and even upgraded to it's full potential and it's just money grabbing scheme.

This hotel is definitely not a 4 star experience. There are much better 3 star hotels out there!
The basic issue is that the facilities are not big enough for the number of rooms/guests.
Pool is small and over crowded, restaurant has queues constantly and has the ambience of a works canteen. There are not enough sun loungers to cover demand and the no reservation policy does not work. Go down at 8.00 and the loungers are covered in towels already.
Food and drink is low quality. Machines for coffee and juice often are not working. Cutlery, bowls, plates are often not properly cleaned. Saw the restaurant manager restacking dirty cups that had been rejected by people back into the crockery rather than looking at them and noticing a problem.
The standards are low amongst staff. The staff are lovely and work hard but simply cannot cope with volume of people and therefore standards slip and there is a feeling that nobody cares.
Furniture in rooms is dated, worn and dirty.
Room cleaning is also not to a good standard. Air con does not work and when I complained I was told by reception staff that it was hot weather and the system was old and not able to cope.
Also don’t be fooled by the pictures of double loungers and the sun terrace. You can use it if you are an adult and you pay €20 per day.
All in all nothing like a 4 star experience There are many good hotels in the area that deserve your cash but not this one.

Nice and clean. Appears to be well maintained, shops are within walking distance but due to COVID-19 a lot are closed. Hotel staff encourage social distancing, mask are to be worn in communal areas and hand sanitiser stations everywhere. Meals are good and quite a variety. Pool areas are clean, only issues is the older lifeguard spends more time chatting with the kiosk staff, on his phone or playing with his feet than actually watching the pool. Younger lifeguard is very alert and always walking around checking the pools.

Either the very front or the left side building (with indoor pool) towards the front would most likely get sun and sun set at that time if day I would imagine. I can't remember whether their balcony is pool facing or other side though
Yes all day . Help yourself at the freezer
Yes . Cava wine beer and house spirits & all soft drinks are included . There are also some cocktails included that are on a machine tap .
