The pool was wonderful with plenty of loungers to choose from, it had a really lovely upper terrace with a jacuzzi hot tub and plenty of loungers if you wanted a change of scene from the pool. Pool area was very clean and it was cleaned every day by the great staff.
The location of this hotel is simply perfect, a 4 minute walk to the beautiful sandy beach. Plus within walking distance to the shopping and restaurants. It was lovely to leave the busy tourist areas and come back to the hotel in the evening. There are lots of supermarkets on the doorstep of the hotel for anything else you could need.
There is a fantastic bike rental shop diagonally across the road from the hotel and we hired two electric bikes from there and went to Cambrils, we had the best time. Highly recommend this.
All in all this was a fantastic hotel to stay in and I would struggle to anywhere else now when I come back to Salou, we had such a good time. You will not be disappointed with this hotel.
we were half board, and the food was very good quality you will always find something to eat. You are able to swap your evening meal for lunch as long as you let them know the day before.
There are plenty of sunbeds although people do start queuing up the back of 8am to do the mad dash for the best areas, we never struggled to get a sunbed as there are always plenty stacked up, you may just struggle to get a parasol. The hotel is good and coming out and checking for the ones who leave their towels at 9am but dont come back till late afternoon and I did see on occasions them removing towels from sunbed.
We had a balcony with poolside view which was worth the extra money.
Rooms were clean, they have shampoo conditioner, shower gel, toothbrushes ect, so you wont need too many toiletries. Towels changed if you leave them in the bathtub, and rooms always made up if you leave the ticket on your door handle.
The cabanas are 25 euros a day and we hired 2 one day the only thing I would say it was a little untidy and no one had removed rubbish from the previous day.
The sports bar attached to the hotel is nice for a drink and sometimes has good entertainment.
Its central and 3 min walk to the beach, plenty beach bars and other places for something to eat. The only downfall for us was probably the lack of entertainment for our teenagers plenty for the younger children.
Bus stops right outside for Cambrils, Tarragona, Portaventura. Local market on a Monday which is worth a look, a must is the House of Illusion great night entertainment for the whole family. Supermarket right next door to pick up water/snacks. We booked a day trip to Barcelona through the TUI rep and it picked us up a couple of minutes from the hotel.
All in all a great stay.
A complaint we saw before arriving there was only one English Chanel but you can change some to English using the tool button on the remote then changing the option that starts with idoma.
Some said the rooms were unmodern, ours was not we were in room 408 but seeing some of the others they were less modern, but still looked nice.
In relation to the food the breakfast was lovely! In the evening the dinner is good however may not be the best for fussy eaters. Myself and my friend are both fussy we did still have a full plate but was a beige same old plate. However I do not mark that down because that’s more on myself being fussy and we worked around it. Drinks at dinner were cheap with soft drinks being €2.60 and the staff were lovely. The chefs were especially lovely having a chat with us and giving us freshly cooked, hot food.
Sun beds - this is something I had seen a lot about. Yes there was a mad rush, doors open at 9 and people did run for them with a queue from 8:30 at the latest as we went down for breakfast and there was already a queue. This wasn’t a huge issue as there was only 2 of us and we would finish breakfast at 9 so it was perfect. However for families who need an umbrella or pool side this could be an issue.
The plugs were perfect a usb sized one to charge, as well as being suitable for an adaptor or a 3 plug.
The hotel also provides a lot! Including toothbrush and toothpaste, tissues, shampoo, conditioner, body wash and more in the hotel room right away. As well as free WiFi.
Next door is a cheap supermarket which is perfectly ideal to grab lunch between sunbathing. As well as a bakery that was apart of it which had a great choice that was always tasty.
The beach is less than 5 mins away so a perfect location.
I would definitely stay here again and I see it as perfect for people travelling with friends as well as families (especially those who want activities as there were many a day tan by the animation team who seemed lovely).
Even though I did mention a few bad things I cannot mark the hotel down as they did not appear a huge problem for us but is something to consider.
Thank you to the staff there it was a brilliant stay!
This is definitely not a four star hotel. Both myself and my wife have stayed in many 4 star hotels in Spain and class this hotel as barely 3 star or 2 star plus.
The rooms are very dated and small. 1970s style. Shower over bath looks ancient.
Balcony space is adequate but the table on balcony is a small poolside table.
Only 1 British TV channel and that is a news channel.
There is a 70s style stand lamp in the room which is a total waste of space, it belongs in a rubbish skip and not in a hotel room.
A lick of paint would go a long way as well.
Dining
If possible eat out. Food was only warm at best and cold at worst and mainly catered for the Spanish.
Chips everyday every meal even breakfast, mainly cold and seemed to be the left overs from the day before.
Some meals were ok.
Pool Area
This was probably the only 4 star part of the whole hotel. Good pool and plenty sun loungers. They also have a poolside hoist chair for wheelchair users but the lifeguard did not know how to operate it. 3 British lads had to come from their loungers to assist a wheelchair user into the hoist and lower it into the pool for the user. Well done lads you made his day! Lifeguard was useless.
Location
The hotel is in a fabulous location, near to all amenities and pubs. 5 min walk to the beach .
If Salou is your type of place then enjoy, but the H10 Salou Princess would be well down my accommodation list.
A four star hotel should have spacious rooms. Be spotless. A decent shower and bathroom , Tea and coffee facilities, kettle, cups and up to date furnishings.
The H10 Salou Princess has none of the above.
All the travel companies that rate this hotel should seriously revise their rating of this hotel.
3 Star at a push , 4 Star definitely not!!!
Most important warning - Entertainment here starts at 10pm, every evening, on the pool deck. It cannot be avoided and is incredibly loud. We travelled with our infant daughter and we couldn’t believe how loud it was, I had to ask reception to turn it down on our first night. For this reason, this is not a child friendly hotel (if you want to get them to sleep before 11pm!!)
Some rooms are very dated but some have been refurbished. I booked a superior double with pool view and thankfully it was more modern, though did not have a bath so request this if you need one. We looked at changing rooms to a non pool view to try and escape the noise from the entertainment but old and dated room which was a road hire was quite a big step down.
Other things to note, we walked to Port Aventura theme park, took about 20 minutes so you don’t need to taxi/bus. Also only 5 minutes to the beach from the hotel entrance. Pool and pool area are small so sunbed reserving was rife - guests were queueing to get beds before the area opened at 9am. Also queueing for dinner to open in the evening, again, bit of a shock there. 10€ deposit to rent a pool towel, which is refunded when given back (must be cash) and then 1€ to change your towel for a fresh one. Also if you’re staying half board, you have to pay for drinks at end of dinner (cannot charge to the room). Breakfast and dinner were chaotic - dining room staff were setting up lunch tables at 9am when breakfast doesn’t finish until 10:15am then telling guests they could sit there despite restaurant being very full.
Recommend bringing your own water bottle as you can use the water machines for free which is filtered water so that’s a positive.
Overall, we had an ok stay but sadly wouldn’t return to the H10 Salou Princess.
