Nice apartments: Lift to underground parking garage, proper heating, adequately equipped kitchen, very close to the piste. Ski shop/rental on hand in the complex. We didn't mind the walk to Valmeinier 1800 for restaurant/supermarket etc. Few things that could be better: the "heated" swimming pool was quite cold, there are no hooks in the bathroom for hanging clothes/towels, the dishwasher was functioning but not really cleaning very well. Not all of the reception crew speak english.

just great! fabolous. "private" lift to the run going down to the huge skiing area... and the heated water swimming pool at night :) ... if you want you also can rent the ski on place. nice girls at the reception ( in case you need to print your ticket for bus to the airport , just ask for help :) ). Good quality of all equipement in the kitchen as well. and the best is the morning or evening panorama ...

If You want to go to restaurant ,you need to go up to the hill to walmeinier 1800,by foot it takes You about 15minutes,there You can find restaurants,shops,market... in this place is nothing, only place for sleeping. No-one restaurant,no-one pub, only rent place for ski... :-( Reception in this accomondation is average, very poor information, during some days was open only from late afternoon clocks... At this accomondation You have to pay for very bad wifi, for TV,for saunas, for parking in the garage... Is not better give a bigger price at the start of your stay? For me next time is better to find something in valmeinier 1800 for staying... not here

Big apartaments, nice, well equipped. Shop 800 meters away in the center of the village but you can order bread in the reception. No hangers in the bathroom. Apart from this perfect for family holidays. I will go back.

We stayed here for a week at the beginning of April. Odaly’s offered to change our accommodation from Les Ecrin D’Neige to Grand Panorama on arrival in resort, as the Les Ecrin did not look that appealing we took them up on the transfer. The apartment we had suited a family of 4 perfectly with a bunk bedded room and a separate double room. There was also a double sofa bed in the lounge. The accommodation was spotlessly clean with good appliances. It even had a mug and kettle… We didn’t use the pool or sauna so can’t comment. It is located a little out of the main village but as we ate in every night this wasn’t a problem for us. Apres ski was almost non existent, or we didn’t find it. You could almost ski from the accommodation, it was about a 100 metre walk to a green run that ran behind Grand Panorama, although the bottom of this piste is difficult. Earlier in the season there would have been a small pull lift to drag you up the small hill but as the snow had melted we had to walk. The ski bus stops near to the accommodation and the bus drivers are considerate. If they see you coming down they stop and wait. For us the skiing was great in Valloire but not so good in Valmeinier. The problem we had with Valmeinier was that all runs converge into a central area and the piste coming in is very busy and chopped up. The 2 advanced beginners in our group found this area too challenging. However we loved Valloire and drove over there each morning. We were unable to make use of the lifts which connect the resorts as the runs back to Valmeinier from Valloire were to difficult in spring conditions for the less able members of our family.

We stayed in le grand panorama 1 in a 6 person apartment and overall had a very positive experience. The accommodation was new, clean and as far as budget ski accommodation goes it was pretty spacious and well equipped. A 6 person apartment had a bunk room, double room (which lacked wardrobe space and a mirror) and the main living area had a pull out double sofa bed, kitchen with hob, microwave and kettle (no oven) but a dishwasher which is always nice. There was extensive cutlery/pots and pans which were all clean for us. Overall the accommodation is split into blocks of apartments and some chalets for larger groups. There was also a nice balcony with wonderful views which was a bonus. The service from reception was pretty good. We arrived late so they left our apartment open for us and we picked our keys up in the morning. You are expected to clean the room before you leave or we could have payed 90 euros for a cleaner but there was no need. We left early before reception opened and they were pretty relaxed and said they would inspect our room after we had gone which we were worried about but there was no charge deducted for anything. One other thing which we really enjoyed was the outdoor heated swimming pool. Residents can use this free of charge between 3 and 7 o clock. The only bad thing about it was the lack of sunbeds ( the pool was however clean). In terms of the location it was about a 100 metre walk to the nearest run which was a fairly narrow green down to valmenier 1500 called Epilobes. This is accessed by button lift torwardsthe road from the hotel. From there you could get the chairlift to either Valmenier or Valloire. The hotel is situated approx 10-15 minute uphill walk into the main centre which has a spar and other shops for buying supplies. Alternativley you can ski down into the centre, pick up some supplies Nd then ski into the hotel. There is also a ski hire shop situated right next to the accommodation which was very handy, and ski lockers right next to the accommodation with enough room to house skis and poles but not boots. I terms of the skiing, we went at the end of April during which time the resort was experiencing unseasonally high temoeratures which reduced the quality of the skiing. The Majority of the pistes were open including those at a lower level but from 1pm onwards the vast majority of the snow was slushy and unpleasant to ski on so we just went in for the day and used the pool. If it had been a little cooler then the conditions would have been much better and the skiing improved. We enjoyed the various snow parks- suitable for all levels and the bordercross as well as some of the wide reds and blues. The resort isn't to be recommended for those advanced skiers. Most of the blacks were closed and there was little to none off piste skiing. However, it is ideal for beginners and intermediates looking for a good budget ski holiday. We payed 450 each for lift pass ski hire and accommodation. The only other thing lacking is night life in the resort. We Enjoyed the bowling bar but there weren't really places to go out partying. This didn't detract too much from the holiday though and for the price, I would go back again.

We went to this place in the end of February 2012. We were 3 people, a couple and a friend. General: We took a 4 people appartment, which was located in the "A" building of Grand Panorama 2. This is the first thing you should know - there are two Grand Panoramas - the 2 being the upper one, this is the one you have direct access to the slope "epilobes" that takes you down to Valmeinier 1500. At Grand Panorama 1 there's a lift that takes you up to this slope. Be aware, that although "epilobes" is a green slope, it is rather narrow for low-confidence or low-experience skiers, so they might not enjoy it - for beginners it's better to go to the center of Valmeinier 1800. The ski area is ok in general, the green slopes are rather crowded, but there're some nice red ones on the next hill, between Valloire and Valmeinier. Now in the end of February it was very warm already (+6-10 C) so the snow was melting quickly and in a week it'll be gone. The slopes were prepared every day, but on Thursday and Friday I have caught rocks with my skies and I wasn't happy about it at all (green and red slopes). The lifts in the middle area in Valmeinier 1800 run until 16:30-17:15, so it's nice. You can also go for paragliding or hanggliding if you like. Prices are high, but they're still in the range like at other places. By booking at Grand Panorama you'll get a discount of 15-20% from ski rental at the shop Skiset. We had to change from basic(discovery) to intermediate(sensation) category for two people's skis because the lower cat skis were not sharp enough to enjoy skiing with them. In the end we paid around 90 euros/skis/6 days. You can find the Spar to buy stuff in the city center and there's an other shop, much less crowded if you take the first road (with a no entry sign) left when you enter the first intersection when you go towards the center from the accomodation. I can't remember the name, but it looked nice. There's an ATM in the center as well, but you can pay with card pretty much anywhere. Accomodation: Since we have arrived late to the accomodation, I've phoned there before and found the keys in a safe at the reception - I was given the code by phone. The reception closes at 7 pm, and along with it the lobby as well in Grand Panorama 2. This is one of the negative things actually - you only have Wifi internet around the reception, but after 7pm you have to stand there all the time in the cold, there's nowhere to sit down. The wifi is not free, it costs 20 euros for a week (200 hours). Our room was in the main building of Grand Panorama 2, called block A. In the bottom of it there was a ski room for skis and boots (one locker for each room, you can't really put both skis and boots in there - max 2 set of boots) although it was not heated, therefore the boots were rather cold in the morning. It is forbidden to walk around in skiboots in the building, they can fine you for 60 euros if you do - even though it didn't deter most of the people from doing so. The room was on the 3rd floor, with a view towards the top of the mountain. It was ok, there was a sleeping cabinet that could be separated from the living room/kitchen by a door, but it was in the same area with the entry hall and bathroom/toilet entrance. Imagine you enter the room, to the left there're two doors on the corridor (bathroom&toilet), on the right there's no room but this sleeping cabine. Ahead there's the door to the living/kitchen, and the balcony. In the kitchen there were plenty of things, microwave, dishwasher (no salt or rinser loaded, so either bring or take combo pills with you). There's also an induction cooker. You'll find a full set of cutlery, dishes, plates in the kitchen, no need to bring them unless you want to cook something special. It's basic, but it's enough. There's no hairdrier in the bathroom, so take one if you need it. In the living room there was a sofa that had a bottom part which could've been used as a 4th bed - I don't know how comfortable it would've been though. Heating was good, no complaints there. We haven't tried the swimming pool, it was always crowded in the afternoon. There was one day, when there was no warm water whatsoever, and it only got back after we complained. You must book a time by Wednesday the latest for you room check before departure - they're scheduled in 10 minute intervals, so you better hurry up if you want to leave early. Also make sure it is written on the paper sheet, because for example in our case they mixed up the 305 (scheduled at 07:40) and 309 (ours, scheduled at 07:10). If there's noone coming speak up! There's laundry service as well, you'll have to pay 6 euros for washing, 4 for drying. There's only one washmaschine and one drier though, so you must be a bit lucky to find them empty. You have to pay in the end and the machine takes care of the detergent, you don't need to buy any. At the reception everyone was friendly and they spoke acceptable English as well. Going out: There're a few nice places around, I'd also suggest you go to the bowling place Lebowski and the bar Les 3 diables. These are pretty much the only ones we found open later in the night. For food you can go to the restaurants on the main square (Le Refuge), in most of them you'll find good food and good service. The only one I didn't like that much was the restaurant La Fondue - the reservation and the service was a bit sloppy and we didn't feel quite appreciated as guests - maybe because it's also a hotel and the hotel guests have priority, I don't know.

We (4 adults & 1 kid) stayed in chalet CB2-3 for a week. The chalet was clean, spacious enough and with a really nice view. Not far from the road, it was very quiet nonetheless. It comprised of a balcony, a large living room (but only 1 sofa, which was not convenient to sit 5!), a large double bedroom with view and another one, smaller 2 single beds w/o the view. The location of the residence was a bit remote from the village, walkable w normal shoes though. The shuttle bus were quite rare though (1/half hr) so the morning trips to the slopes were a bit stressfull. The reception opening hours were not convenient at all (closed @ 7pm! Open @ 3pm only on sat!). There is a swimming pool, open only 2:30hrs a day, not ideal for relaxation after a day skiing. Valmeinier itself lacks a bit of charm but the ski domaine was ok.

Basic, but nice accommodation. We rented one of the "flats" for 8 people, but only had 6 people staying. It is normally my method with ski resort accommodations to book somewhere for 2 more people as they try to suggest you can have 2 people sleep on the sofa bed in the living room which in all honestly would be a logistical nightmare to put away every night, not to mention if said occupants wanted to go to bed earlier than the other housemates, as living room was open plan with the kitchen too. Have stayed in more homely Snowtrex accommodations, but this wasn't bad. Rooms were divided up as a very small twin on the ground floor, kitchen/dining room and living room on second floor, and double bedroom and small bunkbed room on top floor. The double bedroom was by far the nicest and cosiest. Not much of a view from the balcony, but it caught the sun in the day time should you wish to have a little sunbathe. The residence's staff were very helpful, and you could order fresh baguettes and whatnot for collection for breakfast the next day. Although advertised as having wifi, this is only if you want to sit in reception which isn't very helpful at all. The flats are pretty close to the pistes, hardly more than a 5 minute walk and in full on snowy season you can ski back to them. The resort of Valmenier is quite sweet. Not a huge amount going on, but one very nice sandwich bar called La Fabric that DOES have wifi :) and a cinema that only shows films in French in the evening. Only one bar seems to have anything going on in the evening, but then it ensures that you're in the one place where everyone else is! Not a bad amount of pistes, enough for a week to not get bored for the seasoned skier/snowboarder. The village doctor was also good as I can vouch for, having broken my arm on the first day! As with all these places, if you intend on eating at home, you will need to either bring tea towels or buy some as they just don't provide them! More than enough warmth in the flat and most important of all, a great bath!

We had room for 4 people. There was a sleeping room. Once extra room with two beds, living room with the kitchen together, the hall and the bathroom. More than enough space for 4 people. We had a very nice balcony, but the view was not good. It think you need to pay extra for the mountain view and if you stay longer it might be worth of spending more. The kitchen was very good epuipped so don`t be worry that you will miss something. They even had a disch washer, so bring the cleaning tabletes in case you want to use it. Also bring soap for dish cleaning, soap and shampoo and some toilett paper as once you run out of the paper in your apartment you do not get extra one (maybe you get in case you ask for it at the reception I did not try) Once you check in they give the the bed linen, towels so you have to put in on the bed by yourself. Once you leave the apartment you have to clean it too. Each room has a bucked, rag, broom .. You can pay for the cleaning I think the max they charge is 40 EUR based on type of the apartment. The apartment has a swimming pool. But it closes at 8 pm and it is not open on Saturday. We stayed here Friday and Saturday so we were not able to use it for one day. You can not have shorts in this pool, bring the regular man swimming suit. There is a sauna 5 EUR for half an hour. I also saw the billard. I found this more as a ski resort. We was here is summer so we drove by car to Vanois NP what took about 1 hour drive. There are plenty of hikes you can take. Very close to the hotel is a goat farm. You can see the goats, and you can buy fresh goat cheese here. Try it is was delitious. Also at the hill behind the hotel you can see sheep and you can here theis bells. There are several small supermarkets (e.g. SPAR) walking distance from the hotel, also bowling. There is free parking for hotel guests. In case you want to use garage (covered parking) you have to pay for it. We enjoyed our stay and we would stay here again. But if your destination is Vanoise NP maybe Modane would be better choice. But I did not find so prretty accomodation there as this one. By the way my brother is very tall 1,9 m and he found his bed too short.
