Nice hotel with an excellent restaurant, even if the service was a bit stiff in the evening. great morning breakfast in a nice setting. The swimming pool is quite small though. We had lovely but small bedrooms without air conditioning ,with just a noisy fan manually operated. The bathrooms were even tinier and not to the standard of this type...

Amazing Hotel, good restaurant and every member of the staff were showing care and hospitality for customers and collegues. Nice pool area and courtyard. Smiles everywhere and our suitcases in our room after 60 km bicycling in the Pyrenees. Thank you!

Fantastic stay in a lovely Chateau in a picturesque village set into the mountains. Lovely walk into the village from Chateau as welll. The interior of the Chateau was as stunning as the outside complete with some lovely grounds, tennis courts and swimming pool. Staff were excellent but just wanted to point out that the lady at breakfast was very...

This is a truly wonderful place. Isabelle and Vincent are gracious, professional and delightful hosts. I come every year and love it more and more. The Aude River runs just past the back wall of the castle - a wonderful aperitif spot. There is real peace and quiet here. The blend of medieval and renaissance surroundings are beyond atmospheric. That...

Having been invited to attend a birthday celebration at the Château, we signed in on a Friday afternoon and were shown to a tower room on the second floor. It was quite spacious, well-appointed and clean. Our bags arrived quickly and we were happy there was help to carry them up as the chateau has no elevator. It was 54...

We have been twice for Dinner. First visit was to celebrate the B'day of my wife and the second time, was with family. The food was exquisite, delicious; worthy of a Palace and the Staff particularly polite and professional. The harpist performed and sung which made the environment and the evening a special place to be. Congratulations to the management...

Overall a very good stay. On approach, situated on the bank of the river Aude the Chateau looks stunning. The staff were excellent, from arrival to departure, invariably polite and friendly, nothing was too much trouble. The standard rooms are a little bland, but the larger ones looked much nicer. Tea/coffee making facilities would be handy and an English language...

How could we not sense history in such an authentic château? The setting is peaceful with views of green hills, trees and the gurgling river. It's close to Rennes Le Château and fairly close to the Gorges de Galamus and the ruins of Peyrepertuse, all worth visiting. It's dramatic land with many legends. We love Château des Ducs de Joyeuse...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
An imposing castle with a striking silhouette; a square building that opens into a courtyard, set in a lovely garden through which the river Aude flows. In the bedrooms of this 16th century listed building, a medieval atmosphere and modern comforts are skilfully combined. The same clever recipe works its magic in the reception rooms, the old chapel converted into a lounge and the dining rooms. ... more   less
