We stayed at Holiday Inn Resort Baruna Bali were welcomed with well-known Balinese hospitality. With beautiful rooms facing the pool and the beach at walking distance, this property accompanied with great staff was a treat to stay at.

Special mention to Mr. Harsen at the hotel’s Palms restaurant who catered to our very specific vegetarian and ‘Jain’ needs. We never heard a ‘No’ from him and when we requested for vegetarian dessert he himself put on gloves and made some for us.

Also, Mr. Yudhis at the front desk helped us throughout the stay. Thank you for your service.
Will surely visit again and will suggest to family & friends visiting Bali.

Thanks

A lovely stay for 6 nights in the first week of December. As an IHG member we were upgraded to a pool access room which was great access to and from the pool.
We didnt get breakfast included as we like to explore but We were able to purchase morning coffee’s for take away each morning from the little ice cream/coffee shop situated accross from the hotel shop and near the breakfast restaurant.
Had the breakfast buffet 1 morning which had all the usual Breakfast yum yum’s, and what made it better was a order form to fill out for your egg order from what you wanted in your omelette to how you wanted your fried eggs, which were then served to you, so no waiting around.
Envy Restaurant was a nice choice for lunch one day, however missed out on their evening cocktails and dinner which I reckon would have been great.

No complaints about the room, generous size and very clean and cold.
Non smoking hotel, with only 2 areas to smoke at, however I did see others smoking amongst the lounges. Definitely the strictest I have seen a hotel for smoking policy’s.
Enjoyed the pool bar each day, Dede was excellent at the pool bar, loved the happy hour cocktails only thing was shame the Bintangs were never on special as Bintang wouldn’t strike a deal with the hotel. Only thing was that entire week the pool water was extremely warm.

Had 2 spa treatments at Tea Tree Spa - great the first time, second time had workers working next door drilling and banging away which made it hard to enjoy. So much greenery around the resort, it is looked after very well. Beach access as well which lead to the pathways to take us right in to Kuta.
On check out we had a few questions and query’s with the bill and Tiara was lovely enough to get it all sorted.
Gymnasium was good, reasonable priced laundry saving you walking down the streets, and Room Service for dinner was good.
The Kids club and movies room did look very modern for those who have Families.
Will definitely stay again. Already miss the view of the ocean and the pools from the lobby area.

Stayed here from Boxing Day 2019 until New Years Day 2020 overall the holiday inn is a good 3 & half to 4 star family resort, the family balcony room was perfect size with a seperate room with bunk bed for kids & great balcony that you can relax on & have a few quiet drinks overlooking the beach area.
As in other reviews there is an issue with the aircon here every morning we woke up to damp floors & in the first room we checked in there was also a mouldy smell.
Umar the duty manager was extremely helpful after hiccups on our initial 1st day & problems with our 1st room & helped us move to a different room with
Breakfast was great every morning we enjoyed food & drinks at the pool bar the food was good at Envy and we enjoyed the lunch as well as breakfast at Palms especially the pancake & egg stations.
The only bad points we had was the beds are a little hard but the staff did try to help with this room service, 1 night we had satay sticks that were cold, not a big range in drinks at the bar and some things on the menus like chocolate martini was not available for the whole trip also when busy it is hard to get a pool lounge or towel but overall it is a good family resort at a reasonable price & the customer service is very good.

We stayed here in a 'big room ocean view' for 3 nights from new years eve. We arrived to fire works and great live music and a welcome reception from staff. Fantastic location incredibly close to airport. First impressions were excellent.

We knew it would be noisy new years eve but the room we were placed in (despite requesting a quiet room) was directly behind reception and the pool area where the evening parties are held. The music on two of our three nights there was so loud our room was vibrating. Ear plugs made absolutely no difference and I ended up with a splitting headache as a result. We've stayed in noisy little backpacker style hotels all over the world in the middle of night club districts and haven't complained. This was unlike anything we've ever experienced. The noise level in the room to the point of the room vibrating was unacceptable and should really be left empty on nights such as these with loud bands and speakers placed so close to this room. I asked to be moved in the morning after getting very little sleep and unfortunately as the resort was fully booked we had to put up with the same the following night for another event. At least this event finished earlier than the new years event which went into the early hours of the morning.

Apart from the lack of sleep on these two nights, our stay was fantastic! Loved the friendly staff, big, beautiful pool and breakfast buffet. After this we stayed at a luxury resort at Nusa Dua but will return to Baruna as thought the location next to Lippo Mall and Carla Spa and other great restaurants such as Gala More was more convenient. The pool setup is also great for families with kids, the only thing it is missing is a lifeguard and some more structured activities for kids aged 6 and up. Overall though we loved the atmosphere of this resort, met some lovely people and will definitely return but insist we don't get put in the rooms near the bar speakers again!

Lovely quiet spot of South Kuta, our first visit to Kuta area and we were pleasantly surprised. Enjoyed the free bike hire from Baruna and rode along the beach to discovery mall with our son. This facility is fantastic. Be sure to bring an inflatable for the pool, the kids had a ball on these - especially at the afternoon new years day party! A really fun resort for families.

This was my 5th visit to Bali and by far the best. I stayed for 2 weeks at The Holiday Inn Baruna, which is the longest I’ve ever stayed in one place, but I had no reason to move on. As a solo traveller I felt safe, secure and comfortable.

Although a little dated compared to the newer accomodation available, I found The Holiday Inn Baruna a perfect base. The hotel is clean, well maintained and all the staff friendly and helpful. Housekeeping, front desk, room service, pool, breakfast staff, everyone I came in contact with were professional and nothing was too much trouble.

I did have an issue with the phone when I checked in but this was fixed immediately and the manager Aries personal came and apologised.

The property is perfectly situated and has that warm, friendly feeling, that you have come to expect from Bali but don’t always get.

My room had a great views of the ocean which is literally 200 meters from the hotel. The location is private and quiet but only a short distance from great restaurants, the beach (which you can sit and view a spectacular sunset every night) and everything else you need for a great holiday. There’s lots to do you if want to or you can simple relax.

One night I didn’t feel well and mentioned to Aries, he had porridge sent to my room. This was offered I didn’t ask. I was so thankful and it’s those little extra things that make the difference.

I thank Aries and the team for my stay, it was so pleasurable. I will definitely be back and will recommend to all my family and friends.

Bali is back and open. Visit this wonderful place and people. You won’t regret it.

Stayed for a week in July 2023, had a family room which is basically 2 adjoining rooms, the kids room had single beds boat themed with a tiller at the foot of each. Kids room also comes with a play station, games can be requested from reception. Really enjoyed the stay, room was good, facilities were good, food and beverages were good.

Things I would fault, and none are that major: 1) the gym is pretty basic compared to some other hotel gyms, couple of treadmills, 1 x elliptical and 1 x bike, a bench, dumbbell rack, seated leg extension machine and a basic functional trainer. 2) Housekeeing provide water in glass bottles not plastic. We smashed 2 during our stay, when dropped on the tiles in the room, had to be really careful to make sure all pieces were picked up since lots of time spent in bare feet. 3) one night we ate dinner at the main restaurant where you eat breakfast, it wasn’t busy, and there were enough staff, yet we waited nearly 1.5 hrs before we all got our meals, and they mucked up several of them, one of our friends didn’t even get hers in the end. They did however take out feedback and we weren’t charged so that was something.

Pool and pool bar are good, bar and meals at the grassed area are good, live entertainment was pretty good. Happy hour at pool bar 4-5 and at the other bar 5-6, 2 for 1 select cocktails or 3 bintangs for 275 ird, we made good use of the happy hour:-)

The Holiday Inn Express Baruna Bali is a handy hotel location close to the Valley International Airport.

The rooms are on average size with air conditioning that works really well, and the beds are nice and comfortable.

The rooms have a desk and a chair and blackout curtains. The showers are a reasonable size and have reasonable water pressure. However, they do not provide any shampoo.

They provide a bar fridge, a safe, tea and coffee making facilities, slippers, and dental kits.

There is a roof top swimming pool and bar where you can see out over the bay and also watch the planes arriving at the airport, however the decking around the swimming pool is all worn and has a very unsafe feeling about it when you walk on it as it sinks and bows all over the place.  The decking also gets scalding hot and you cannot walk on it and bear feet during the day and many customers complying about how unsightly hot the decking was near the hotel should realistically put down some non-slip matting . Another really strange design feature is they have stainless steel handrails on the stairs and around the top of the railing which gets scolding hot with the heat of the sun and could very easily burn someone.

The breakfast supplied has a reasonable selection of Asian and Western dishes including cereals fruits and some rice and Asian hot dishes  and they supply Apple, guava and orange juices.

The hotel offers what they call a free welcome drink which is really quite ridiculous because it's free iced tea and if you don't drink tea which many people don't you get nothing.

I am a Diamond Elite IHG Rewards member and this hotel doesn't really offer you anything as a diamond rewards elite member which I thought was fairly poor. As many flights leave lights from Bali I asked for a light check out and the staff member off of me a 3:00 p.m. check out it when I spoke to other people that weren't even IHG Rewards members they were offered at 6:30 p.m. check out so I was rather annoyed at being treated worse than non-rewards members.

I did bring this to the attention of the duty manager who very kindly then extended my checkout time until 6:00 p.m. which was still not what was offered to other guests who were non-members but it was much appreciated.

The Hotel provides a free shuttle to the airport which runs on the hour which is a good service.

The duty manager Agus was extremely helpful and professional and when out of his way to try and make customers feel welcome and I found his service to be excellent,

Our family (2 adults and 2 kids aged 16 and 9) stayed at the Holiday Inn for 2 nights prior to catching an early morning flight out of Bali at the end of our holiday. We booked a family suite room which allowed the kids to have their own beds.

The hotel is very convenient for the airport - only ten minutes away although you would not really know it apart from seeing an occasional plane fly in if you were looking out to sea - no airplane noise at all.

The resort itself is pleasant, nice sized pool with activities for the kids like water polo and also a field near the beach area with football goals. You are also right near the beach although there are no hotel loungers on the beach so you are reliant on taking your towel and putting it on the sand like anyone else using the beach. The beach you are near to is called Pantai Jerman, which is one up from Kuta and much quieter but still with great sunsets. The downside is that there is no real surf here - all the main surfing action is further down in Kuta.

The room was pretty disappointing - size was fine but it was definitely tired with various cracks and divots and the room we got allocated was facing the back of the hotel with concrete walls as the view and a number of maintenance staff walking back and forth....which was not great. Not sure if all the family suites have the same situation but worth trying to get a room facing the resort/sea or gardens as that would definitely be better.

Food at the hotel was fine but not amazing, definitely the worst breakfast we had during our time in Bali although need to be careful not to be spoilt here given how lucky we were to be there anyway!

In terms of location, this is good, about 20 minutes away from central Kuta by taxi (given traffic) but also walkable over a nice seaside path with no traffic. One great thing is option to take a free bike from the hotel to get to Kuta along this path which is recommended. There were also lots of nice restaurants and some malls close to the hotel.

Overall the hotel is rated as 5 stars but it definitely is not comparable to the 5 star resorts of Nusa Dua - in terms of room quality for a start but also for other touches such as not providing water at the pool. A decent budget option for a couple of nights close to the airport but would not recommend this for any longer stay for reasons already mentioned.

Having stayed here previously in 2011 the obvious observation is the hotel has not made any improvements, upgrades or renovation throughout the hotel and rooms in 12 years.

Palms restaurant remains closed in the evening apart local functions.

Palms breakfast menu is 50% oriented to Indians and remaining western but very average variety and lacking in quality.

Envy restaurant menu is limited and is more suitable as a pool menu not evening menu.

Staff generally lack English language skills so difficult to communicate with.

Management in Palm and Envy are not identifiable so it’s hard to lodge a complaint.

In 2 weeks I saw the Food and beverage manager once at the Balinese theme night and only then because the Seafood portion of the buffet was non existent and only became available later in the night.

Pool cover over pool non existent and comment was its being repaired ( 2 years of pandemic not enough time?)

Overall as much as the room rate was slightly lower than previous years, Holiday Inn Baruna have been asleep at the wheel and have missed the opportunity to move ahead within and coming out of the pandemic.

The GM and managers are no where to be seen.

We wouldn’t recommend Holiday Inn Baruna.

Where in Kuta do you want to go? You can take the beach way, and it will have you at Discovery Mall / Waterbomb park area 15 minutes if that at a casual pace, a little longer along the main roads 25-30 minutes - again at a casual pace.
