We have just returned from a seven night holiday staying in room 303 – deluxe water view room on a room only basis. The location of this hotel is superb. It is spectacularly beautiful, peaceful and serene. The room we stayed in was very spacious, clean, comfortable and the Seascape through the wall of windows was breathtaking. The bed was very comfortable and 6 foot. The coffee machine was a nice touch but only enough pods for two cups of coffee daily. All of the waiting staff in the restaurants were very attentive and obviously well trained. The quality of food was very good, particularly breakfast but evening dining we thought was somewhat limited. Wi-Fi in the room and throughout the hotel was outstanding. Toiletries offered were very basic. No hair conditioner or body lotion offered. The first morning we asked if we could add a breakfast package to our booking. We were told this was not possible and when I pushed for an explanation, rather than simply a “can’t do” attitude, was informed that I had got some money off of my room booking and could pay à la carte prices for food! This was despite the fact that I could see online that bed and breakfast option was available for the nights we had booked. The second day, after a full day exploring, we returned to the room to find it had not been serviced. A call to reception resulted in a member of housekeeping visiting. We were informed that the room could not be serviced until the following day. This seemed to reinforce our perception of a can’t do attitude unfortunately - housekeeping standing in our room telling us she couldn’t help? We were supplied with clean towels at least after we asked. We freshened up the room and sorted things ourselves! Monday nights is BBQ night but we were informed by reception that, owing to storm Alex, all outside dining would be closed (perfectly reasonable), and the BBQ was cancelled. The Shutters menu would be offered inside, (perfectly sensible) so we booked. When we arrived however we found that they had decided to offer the BBQ buffet style. No other restaurants were open so it was packed! People were crowded around the buffet area and we were quite frankly shocked from an infection control perspective. Considering the lengths we had to go to to obtain Travel Authorisation we were quite frankly shocked. Not particularly that a buffet was offered because it’s personal choice but no sit down option offered. We did not stay and ordered food in our room. I completely understand that this industry has been significantly impacted over the last two years and appreciate that new ownership/management can come with teething issues. On balance, would I recommend? Yes I think I would. This hotel certainly has a huge amount going for it. With some robust training on customer satisfaction this could certainly be an elite hotel.…
We booked this trip to Bermuda through AAA Travel and we could not be more pleased with their resort choice. The resort is beautiful, located on the end of a peninsula so there are both ocean views and harbor views with several choices for beach lounging plus a pool. This is important if you happen to have a windy day. The staff is very helpful and friendly, from the reception staff to the wait staff to the lawn care and cleaning staff. The location of our three rooms had a wonderful view of the bay and the ocean and allowed us to gather and visit each morning and evening on the lawn in front of our rooms. The room are spacious and the bathrooms seem newly upgraded. The breakfast meal plan was an excellent idea. The food is good and there is enough variety offered on the menu. Conveniently located on the property is H2O Water Sports. Here you can find any kind of watercraft or equipment that you might need to enjoy the beautiful water here. We highly recommend the services that they offer. Our family is hoping that we can come back again some day soon!…
Cambridge Beaches is a resort for those who want a secluded stay at the beach. That was our wish - we didn't go elsewhere in Bermuda, as it is a long drive to anywhere else. It is lovely to walk around the grounds, which are extensive and beautifully landscaped. Meals can be brought to the room if desired, and we had breakfast on our patio every day, while enjoying a full view of the beach & ocean. There is a choice of three or four different beaches on the resort's peninsula, none of which were crowded when we were there (June). Beach umbrellas are readily available. There was an incredible buffet Mon. night - a wide variety of delicious foods including fish, meat, salads, desserts, all you can eat. If travelers are able to stay over for a Mon. night it is well worth it.…
My husband and I just returned from 5 nights at Cambridge Beaches. This was my 7th trip to the island. The beautiful resort has it all, a great setting, wonderful restaurants, private dinners on a beach, water sports on premises and individual casitas. We took advantage of all it had to offer and had a great time. This hotel recently changed owners and things are changing at Cambridge. Our experience was a good one, we were in room 247, large bathroom, nice shower and a great view. The furnishings were a bit tired but passable. Our issue was housekeeping. More than once we returned from the beach to shower for the evening and there was no shower gel or shampoo, there was coffee for the morning but the sugar had not been replenished. Upon arrival there was mold in the shower, the sink didn't drain and the grass on the patio was over a foot high. The staff was responsive and corrected the issues but it would have been better if they were proactive. This was an unfortunate first impression.…
Went to Cambridge Beaches for a destination wedding. The wedding and reception was lovely. However the resort was a disappointment. The reception area has a 1 1/2 step into it after leaving sunshine, you are in shadow with transition glasses. I fell, and reception offered no assistance. They simply watched and then offered a rum swizzle? Really?! My reservation was not complete. I had been not able to obtain a room originally for first night of reservations, but for 3 nights I obtained through a combination of Expedia and the resort. But only for a suite. So, 2500 for 3 nights, breakfast not included. Rug in too. By door was not taped down, another fall. Two bath towels in room, one beach towel. My sisters room also had lifting carpet and lack of towels. Tv in sitting area of room, not bedroom. Taxis requests were not communicated to doormen/valet. Overall, this resort, distant by a 65 dollar cab ride from Airport, is not worth the trip.…
Fabulous eight night stay at the beginning of the season. Beautiful resort, all but surrounded by water, and boasting two which became three lovely restaurants, an outdoor and indoor pool and a spa. All the food we ate was well prepared and beautifully presented and the fine dining Tamarisk restaurant (which may now be called something else) was absolutely excellent. The staff are friendly and professional. A very relaxing place to stay, comfortable and with almost every facility one could want. The hotel’s USP is its’ beautiful location but this is also a major disadvantage depending on what you want as the location is relatively remote. We found difficulty one evening getting a taxi back from the Dockyard area when no cruise ship was in. No management was evident to us at any time during our stay. It might have been nice to have addressed some of the following points personally! We felt that the hotel has poor communications. We were handed a newsletter on arrival. However, during our stay, a new restaurant (Shutters) was opened, there was a Mother’s Day brunch and a 5 course candlelit supper, none of which we were advised of or appeared in the newsletter - which we found strange. On our final bill, charges included dinner drinks at Sunken Harbor and breakfast at Shoreline and also lunch at Pastel - but since none of these places existed during our stay, this was rather confusing. The breakfast waiting staff did not seem to understand the concept of poached eggs and toast being served at the same time and toast often came 10 minutes after the eggs! There were different staff on the hotel reception desk but two in particular, we found repeatedly were fairly miserable and somewhat laid back. This was in contrast to most of the serving staff who were friendly, energetic and attentive. Reception is an important area and this does not give a good impression. Our room was clean and comfortable but across several days, we returned after a day out to find a mixture of shampoo, hand towels and face flannels missing and then had to wait some time for these to arrive when requested. Surely a check list would address this. While the restaurant menus had a reasonable number of options, the choice was very heavily weighted towards seafood which my wife and I don’t eat. We would have appreciated a few more non seafood options. Berries were unavailable four breakfasts in a row and any pizza and Caesar Salad was unavailable at Shutters the lunch time we ate there which we found disappointing. This is a beautiful hotel charging premium prices and one expects management to be on top of all these relatively minor points.…
We had the great pleasure of being at Cambridge Beaches on April 20-24. This was our 3rd trip there, and it just keeps getting better and better. It's an elegant older hotel that's really extremely well maintained. It has the updates that you love as well as all the character of a truly exceptional hotel. The balconies are huge with beautiful water views. Beds and sofas are very comfortable. Everything is so clean. The housekeeping staff is wonderful, cleaning every day and making sure that you're happy. You can't not be!! The entire staff is friendly and very kind. We didn't encounter a single person who wasn't friendly and extremely helpful in every way. I wish I had taken more names, but these are just a few of the people who took very good care of us: Rachel is the person who helped me make our reservation back in August. I didn't get to see her and thank her in person for all of her help and patience. She even saw to it that we were given the room we had last year, as we really loved it. From what I could see every room is amazing though. The very kind young man, I believe his name is Matthew, who greeted us at the door when we were arriving, took our luggage to our cottage and immediately made us forget all about the plane ride and stress of traveling. I've found that the first people you encounter when arriving at a resort can really set the tone of your whole vacation and Matthew is certainly the guy for that! Restaurants are all very good. Our favorite is the casual Breezes. It's outdoors, right on the ocean front. It has coverings so it's nice even if the weather isn't cooperating. We ate breakfast at Tamarisk every day...so good! Every single person on the wait staff at both restaurants was so friendly and helpful. One other person I want to mention is Tyneisha at the front desk. She checked us out and was so polite and helpful. In fact, every person I spoke to at the front desk was the same way. I just didn't get there names. Whatever management is doing at Cambridge Beaches is working. Never, have we encountered a more friendly, knowledgeable staff. Thank you so much. We're already planning our return trip. The only thing I plan to do differently is stay longer!…
This is a truly beautiful hotel in a fantastic spot in the far west of Bermuda. It is so peaceful compared with the busy area around Hamilton. We were so excited when we entered our suite and saw the view from the sitting room. At the end of our lawn, all we could see was the vast expanse of sea. The room itself was decorated in a lovely beachy way, with green and white striped sofas and nice wooden furniture. The bed was huge and very comfortable. The bathroom was large with a very big bath (although we didn’t fill it, to save water). You could not find a better setting. The beaches around the hotel are pristine with what seems like miles of azure blue waters. One evening, we saw some turtles swimming around in the sea at the bottom of the garden. Staff were very friendly, especially Matthew, the guest host. We ate in the restaurant a few times and the food (and cocktails) were delicious. We went with the breakfast meal plan, which we thought was very good value at $31 each per day. The helping are huge! That gave us the freedom to have meals out at lunch and in the evenings if we wanted to. We were so sad to leave and I hope we will go back one day, especially as all of the rooms are currently being renovated and I bet it will be even nicer next year!…
While the views from the property are breathtaking it was a shame the customer service and facilities did not particularly match! Staff was training on a new computer system and unfortunately that was blamed on a few mishaps at the property. The rooms were not cleaned properly (dirty tub in the beautiful bathroom, hair in the shower was never cleaned throughout my time there despite housekeeping coming in every day). Inconsistencies whenever we had questions regarding just about anything. Always felt like we were interrupting their training any time we stopped by the front desk since training was happening throughout the day. The price point at Cambridge Beaches is too high for so many things to go wrong. Your best bet is to stay somewhere in Hamilton, which is centrally located and easier to access public transportation as taxis can add up especially from here the hotel is located pretty far out from Hamilton. Until Cambridge Beaches address these flaws, I would not recommend this place.…
Cambridge Beaches is a beautiful spot with a variety of accommodations, we’re staying in a ocean view room and it’s very comfortable with a stunning view across Long Bay to Daniel’s Head. Staff are very friendly and the resort is kept slick and span, it’s a classic spot with a charm of its own. We’ve only tried Shutters restaurant so far and the food was good, Breezes hasn’t yet opened for Spring. Just one more lovely touch - our flight was delayed and we arrived about 9pm, when we got into our room a late dinner tray had been prepared with a bottle of wine and was greatly appreciated!
