Only hotel on the Island and its within walking distance of The Ferry. Cosy comfy and very welcoming. We stayed for two nights but had to stay in a twin room the first night as the hotel was full. transferred to a massive double room with views to the ferry on the second night at a discount. Brilliant and wished... More

Lovely to return after so many years. Last time I stayed it was run by the Byrnes and then was lovely, comfortable, homely luxury. Now it has changed physically to be more spacious with a cooler atmosphere. Our room was nicely decorated and the food was excellent; Argyll venison in particular. Really good Scottish breakfast.

On this occasion we stayed in a holiday let, a charming, cosy little cottage by the pier called Harbour. It is managed by the Colonsay. The grand children were so excited they did not sleep the night before and were up early and packed. The ferry got us in when it was already dark. The cottage was found up a... More

This is a super coffee shop with friendly staff and lovely coffee and cakes. They also bake bread to order and serve light lunches and meals. As a bonus there is free wifi which is very welcome on this remote island We'll be back.

Title says it all, really. Colonsay is a very unusual place in the nicest possible way. There is a slightly magical atmosphere there which always reminds me of the first 20 minutes of the original (black and white and by far the best) version of The Wicker Man. Fortunately the similarity ends with the magic (and the fabulous scenery)...! If... More

We didn't stay at the Colonsay as we chose to stay in self catering accommodation however we did eat several meals at the Hotel which were excellent. The menu is simple but with enough choice and the quality is excellent particularly the seafood which was absolutely delicious. The staff are friendly and efficient and there is a good atmosphere in... More

The Colonsay Hotel is difficult to compare as it is the only option on the island. The room (Rubha Dubh) was fine but a bit small. It is ensuite and has a great view of the harbor. Note that the bathroom and shower are very small. The hotel is a bit outdated, but in its way it fits in well... More

We spent one night at the Colonsay during a two week tour of Scotland. The island was as quiet and tranquil as we had hoped. The staff was very friendly as were the locals who mingled in the bar. The food was fantastic. My favorite moment was having breakfast with the sun shining into the window.

We discovered Colansay on our recent tandem island hopping adventure and stayed for one night at the Colonsay Hotel. The island is stunning and amazingly friendly and the Colonsay hotel appears to be the social hub of the place. The rooms are a little dated and slightly grubby around the edges, but that all felt part of the charm of... More
