Very difficult to review because it is not your run of the mill hotel. If you want 5 star luxury than it's not for you. If you are prepared to accept the pluses of a beautiful location, rustic beauty, very peaceful and being a part of nature than it may be for you. It doesn't pretend to be luxurious but...

We really enjoyed our short visit to Finca Santa Marta and wished we could have stayed longer! This part of Spain gets incredibly hot in the summer, but the Finca was a beautiful oasis of olive orchards and grapevines. The historic estate is full of charm and furnished with original antiques. We stayed in a large family suite on the...

This is a stunning location but very little attention to detail for example:- 1. The room was described as a junior suite it was a former agricultural building with a hasp and staple shed type lock. 2. We arrived after a six hour drive in 32 degrees of heat it would have been nice to have had a glass of...

This converted Olive farm is situated within stunning countryside and is such a tranquil place with Nightingales singing. The rooms are rustic and not luxurious but are comfortable and unique and there is so much history around the Finca with Olive presses in the dining room and even a small chapel. The food was a set menu affair and include...

After several days in Seville, we decided to escape the crowds of "Feria" and make our way to this casa rural. Birds abounded and quiet relaxation was at hand. About 10 miles outside Trujillo, this was what the proverbial doctor ordered after wading through the seas of flamenco dresses and revelers of Sevilles famed and very large fiesta. As there...

I chose this property as a mid point between the ferry port of Santander and my final arrival in Andalucia. The other ratings were good so I thought it was an ideal place for an overnight, especially as they allow dogs to stay with you in the room for a reasonable addition of 5€. I arrived in the dark, down...

Five of us traveling around Spain were fortunate to discover the Finca Santa Marta for a stay. The remnants of a working ranch make this place charming and interesting. We especially liked the dining room room with a large old press where we enjoyed good coffee and plenty of food each day. The rooms vary, from quite small to quite...

Finca Santa Marta is one of the best hotels we have ever stayed in. Beautiful surroundings, quiet and peaceful, very comfortable rooms and excellent facilities. Best of all was the attention we received. The manager Laura Hernandez, is outstanding. I don't know what she is paid, but it isn't enough. She is worth her weight in gold. Nothing was too...

Drive down a secluded road and arrive at Finca Santa Marta. This wonderful farm has restored barns and bungalows for guests. The architecture is very interesting in the ways they have retained the aspects of the original barns and yet provide very comfortable accommodations. The hostess was extremely efficient and kind and got us to our rooms quickly. The breakfast...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
FINCA SANTA MARTA a Country Inn in Extremadura (Spain) that will surprise you!!! For many years the Finca Santa Marta has been gaining fame in birdwatching and wildlife circles as an ideal base to see an enormous variety of birds and other wildlife of interest, whether immediately in the vicinity of the Finca itself, or on excursions to nearby spots. Tucked in sloping hillsides, only 8 minutes driving from medieval Trujillo (Extremadura) the two typical Extremadura 19 th century farmhouses of the Finca, were renovated in the 19 nineties and converted into a country inn with 13 rooms, but keeping alive, on an amateur level, some of its agricultural activity. Now, city folk and nature lovers enjoy the quiet walks beyond the spacious lawns and the swimming pool. Once scorned upon as backward region, Extremadura is now one of Europe's most admired park-like eco systems visited by scores of nature lovers: the deserted steppes hosting an astonishing birdlife (bustards, vultures, Spanish imperial eagles and other famous Extremadura species all show well). North of Trujillo and about 45 min. Driving from the Finca Santa Marta, the Monfrague Park, is a pristine nature reserve and one of the best birdwatching sites in Spain. Visitors can view an incredible amount of birds of prey, often circling around at eye-level. It is famed for its black vultures, with a wingspan of three meters, breeding mainly on cork-oaks, as well as for a large population of griffon and Egyptian vultures, peregrine falcons, eagle owls and black storks. Pairs of the unique Spanish Imperial eagles sway around the "Salto del gitano", a pinnacle above the Tagus, and favoured target of telescope carrying visitors ... more   less
