This hotel is about 15 mins from Flores and, as others have noted, is in a sort of eco reserve, right by the lake. Plenty of bird noises, including from their resident macaws. Watch out for the floes though! The room are spacious & have all mod cons, including lots of hot water & free wifi. The main area contains...

This gated hotel complex in the lowlands of Flores is a nice respite after a day of trekking through rain forest looking at the Mayan ruins in Tikal. Situated next to a lake, guests enjoy a pristine environment. A resident crocodile waits by the shore of the fenced-off lake, feeding on the occasional bun thrown its way. But the six-room...

This hotel makes a trip to Tikal a real treat! The setting makes you feel like you have stayed near the ancient ruins even though you are about an hour away. The rooms are not fancy, but adequate and clean. The staff was helpful. They are a long way from anything, but that adds to the charm. Food was good....

WE stayed here for two nights while visiting TIkal and loved it! This jungle hotel was very comfortable and friendly. There are small buildings with two stories and two rooms per floor. Rooms were large with double beds, bath, large open area and balcony with table and chairs facing the lake. NO tv or wifi in room but wifi in...

This private nature reserve is really outstanding! The hotel is surrounded by a beautiful tropical rain forest and two small lakes. To make the best out of that beauty there's is a few suggestions and observations that I hope the owner will take in consideration to make of this beautiful property something really unforgettable! 1.-The grounds are beautiful but they...

We stayed for two nights in this tranquil place as a base to explore Tikal. Rooms were well equipped with bug screens and A/C. Feeding the crocodile at breakfast was very entertaining as was the stroll around the lake, we went into Flores one afternoon but apart from a trip around another lake there was not too much to see....

Villa Maya The Villa Maya Hotel is located in the middle of a large, private nature reserve, surrounded by lush tropical vegetation. This beautiful resort is perched between two natural lagoons which feed into nearby Lake Petén, Guatemala's third largest lake. The lagoons, grounds and nearby forests, make for great wildlife viewing and birdwatching. The Villa Maya Hotel has a...

We enjoyed a two-night stay as this was a convenient location to the Mayan site of Tikal. It rained a lot while we were there, so the weather was pleasantly cool and not steamy hot as it very well could have been. This kept the bugs down, as well. Since the eaves are wide and the rain comes straight down,...

This lodge is near Tikal, considered one of grandest of all Mayan cities. The Villa Maya is located in a 67 acre nature preserve and on the shores of Petenchel Laguna. After checking in at the reception area, we were greeted with the sounds of the beautiful Macaw birds in the nearby trees. Each villa had four rooms with a...

We stayed two nights at the Villa Maja as part of our Caravan tour. Accomodations were good, maybe a bit spartan as compared to other "jungle" type lodges we have stayed at, but none the less rooms were clean and beds comfortable. Nice large pool and deck. Restaurant food was good, all buffets, but really, you do not go to...
