The owner Neil is truly just a good soul. The day that we were supposed to leave Flores, our car was broken down due to a dead battery and Neil spent the better part of his day hunting down someone with jumper cables and trying to fix it. He eventually got it all sorted so that we could be on... More

This is very reasonably priced but caters for all the needs you would have in Flores. We had a bit of mix up when arriving and couldn't get over to San Miguel but this was our own fault. We ran into the infamous Scarface of Flores who told us we were getting picked up from his shop but kept us... More

Host: Neil is what makes the hostel, a straight shooter, knows what guests like and is genuine. His pool wasn't working so he made up for it by making the trip to the rope trip free and told us before hand anything that wasn't on the menu etc. he is refreshingly transparent Rooms: The rooms are simple but, importantly, are... Both the owners and the volunteers who work at the hostel were very friendly throughout my stay. Breakfast is not included, but you can choose from an a-la-carte menu for all your meals and drinks throughout the day. These meals are relatively expensive though, as the hostel is located on a peninsula that you can only access by boat. They... More

I really have mix feelings about this place. Neil, the owner, is helpful and try to accommodate your needs even though he is a bit rough (I would not say he is friendly). I have organized with him the transfer from the airport to the hostel and everything went fine. The place has a really nice view on Flores and it... More

Hello folks. Just wanted to take a chance to respond to this review. Concerning me not being friendly I really don't get that. The tour company just didn't pick her up. I take the nlame for that. This guest was given a free box lunch and a beer like she mention. Upon check in I mention the pool developed a... More

Great place to stay. Don't be put off by it being across the water. Journey by boat is beautiful and takes 3 minutes tops - don't let the boat drivers over charge you - 50 per person only. No ATM over at the hostel of course but the staff lent us money for the journey - lovely people. The view... More

Don't be put off by this hostel being located in San Miguel rather than Flores, it is so easy to get between the two (boats run all day, doesn't even take 2 minutes) and it is absolutely worth it for the view across the lake and of Flores town. Seeing the sunset from here was breathtaking. We always opted to... More

A great hostel, with everything i needed. Clean, good food, confortable, swimming pool, nice people. Neil goes out of his way to help out. I have never been in a place like that. And, as a bonus, it has an incredible view. Will return for sure!

Not to be mistaken as a hostel on the main island of Flores, Chaltunha is a great hostel just across the lake at San Miguel. We were picked up by Neil promptly after we arrived just in time to see the spectacular sunset over Flores, the lake and surroundings from the Chaltunha bar. Our room was comfortable, a little loud... More
