I went there looking for local food. They told me they don't have, meaning at that time they did not have meats from the area. But what I had was pretty regional and tasty with great service and a huge plates. I really enjoyed it.
When our original reservation across town got botched, the owner of Mesa de Las Mayas took us in at the last minute. Our room wasn't anything fabulous but it was everything we needed. The hot water worked and the beds were comfortable. The building itself is really cool and I enjoyed the balconies. The restaurant was also good for breakfast. More importantly, the owner took care of us. One morning, my dad and I got up at 3am to meet a tour guide for a sunrise tour of Tikal (highly recommend). The owner was still awake when we went out and he actually stood outside with us. I wasn't worried at first, but once we got out there I realized I was really happy to have his company. Especially since our tour guide was late. Once we realized something was wrong, the owner also helped us get in contact with someone who could take us and saved our trip. He might have saved more than that. I really appreciated his help.…
We three had a nice breakfast here. Very traditional food, tortillas, nice eggs. The staff was preoccupied with their phones and each other but the food was as authentic as Flores gets and sure served its purpose. Clean and friendly. Pretty cheap, like $6.00 per dish.
I find this place by chance on the way to some other Hotel.People are very kind and realy helpfull. You feel like home ,I surely recomend this hotel.Safe, clean, reosnable price and very kind people.Night man wake up 4.30 in the morning and made sure I get the bus to go to Tikal. He waited with me 30 minutes out side in the middle of the night. It was realy kind of him.Thankyou man.Regards from TURKEY.
Stayed 3 nights as we were touch and go with a trek to El Mirrador. We found the place to be just cheaper than 2 dorm beds at the hostel. The hotel has some pretty expensive rooms, we took the cheapest possible on the ground floor. I appreciate I paid a little less than others but our "double" was two singles, the water ran warm and cold, sometimes the water didn't run at all and it was a bit of a struggle to get simple things like a second pillow or some toilet paper. The owners hospitality(banging on our door at 9:30 at night to get our payment as she hadn't been there during the day to ask for it) was pretty poor also. We stayed another night elsewhere and compared with others on our trek, prices in Flores are all pretty comparitable but it seems you could do better than here in terms of your room and service.…
