a rather unique set up as a hostel and I enjoyed my stay. There is personal locker, sockets and fan which is great. It is not so much for privacy but I did not mind. The toilet and shower are spacious and clean! The staffs are super helpful and they do put in effort to help you. Location is great! The entrance is a bit hidden but it is nicely located on the island. It is easy to get around.
I struggled to get orientated in Flores initially, but once I did I was glad I booked this central hostel. Homemade banana bread (I'd kill for to have that again), kind and helpful staff, and they can help with excursions etc. Pretty rooftop views too. Only issue I had that I didn't raise was that being in the double room next to the kitchen, the noise from the doorm floorboards above is HORRIFIC, all night into the small hours as a lot of people obviously get up at 2am to go to the ruins. Absolutely awful, I do not know why it's so loud and nobody seems to really notice. Other than that, I really loved this one.
It's amazing how charming such a small 'hole-in-the-wall' place can be. We stayed a night, arriving very early and leaving very early the next day. We can't thank the staff enough for organising our shuttle bus to Belize, and then later in our travels from Livingston to Antigua. The staff checked in with us by mail a day before our journey to confirm our departure times and meeting points, and were quick to respond to any questions we had. Highly recommended!
Ciao Cacao is an amazing hostel, I highly recommend it! They have very good vegan ice creams (try the blueberry vanilla one... yummm) and banana cake. Also, they can take care of the laundry, there are very nice futons in a very chill and relaxing atmosphere, as Flores is a perfect place to chill and take it easy. Philippa, the owner is very responsive and adorable? Definitely, you should stay in this amazing hostel
Having been jacked around by another travel agency in Flores on another trip, I tried Ciao Cacao for booking the ATM cave tour in Belize and a shuttle to get there. I was taking a break from my bike on a larger motorcycle trip and they let me keep my bike in their courtyard while I was in Belize for a couple days. They were super helpful, and everything went as promised. I didn't stay there, so I can't comment on their sleeping facilities, but the staff is super helpful and eager to please, so I wouldn't hesitate to stay there if I went back again.
