Perfect staycation for us. Live in Dallas but needed a “grown up night” away from the kids. Room was cozy. Especially liked walking to the lounge for drinks and live music on a Friday night. Excellent coffee in urns downstairs in the morning.
Was super expensive for what you get in your room. Parking is a block away. Bathroom is tiny with no no bath tub. Room doesn’t have fridge and the mattresses are the same mattresses from the Super 8 down the road
Great location and very nicely furnished. Fantastic restaurant downstairs…. It is an old building at a historical downtown so don’t expect a new Marriott type rooms. Some rooms are small and dark and typical hotel walls. But the location and food, wow!
First I booked a rate though hotels.com which I have booked countless rooms through because I earn points. Awesome. Well we get to the hotel and they can't find our booking. So I have to call hotels.com who pulls the booking up right away the same booking that shows up in my app, in my email and everywhere else
The room we stayed in was tiny tiny. The bathroom was about the size of a telephone booth. The door would not close to the bathroom, so we had to slam it and tug with our full weight to get it opened and closed. The $179 price tag I’m sure is for the location, but the room is overpriced in our opinion. The clerk at the front did not offer an apology for the door situation but gave an excuse about weather. Upon checking in, we were told room may not be ready at the correct time and again, no apology, just excuses. Average hotel. Good location.
Just finished staying at this hotel. Great location in the historical downtown McKinney. Great area to get away for a day or so. Staff was excellent. Rooms were clean. Hotel has a historic feel but has all the amenities you would expect. Highly recommend this hotel.
Stayed 3 nights while visiting my son . The hotel is great, staff is friendly and the location is fabulous. Only complaint is the thin walls. I could hear neighbors conversation clearly...dogs barking, people talking in the hallway. I loved it and will be back but the noise was a surprise.
I am very familiar with the property as I lived in McKinney for 15 years until recently. I was back in town for a few days and meeting a friend for some "girl time". I chose this location so we wouldn't have to drive at night and still have options to shop and eat within walking distance. Everything from check-in to check-out was great. No issues at all. The entire staff was pleasant, engaging and accommodating. I will give extra aculades to Samantha (front desk). After checking in, I had an apt at 4pm and she asked if everything was fine with my room. I said it was fine, except (and I wasn't complaining!) that it would have been nice to have a desk or table in the room area, maybe even a mirror because 2 women would be sharing the room. Low and behold when I returned there was a small desk with a mirror hanging above it! OMG, I was floored. Again, I did not say it as complaining, only as a suggestion for the future. They do offer hot, made to order breakfast daily and there is an amazing Steakhouse, on site. Rick's will rival in quality (and price) anything in Dallas, and their cozy bar has always been a favorite of mine. Room service is offered, it was good, prompt and reasonably priced. There is no reason why I wouldn't suggest staying here! Value, Staff and location can not be beat.…
What a remarkable gem in Downtown McKinney, TX. Genuine service from friendly people. Historic building situated in the old downtown surrounded by shops, entertainment and dining. Although most shops seem to be open Friday- Sunday. I would recommend this hotel because of it historic appeal and ambience. Rick’s Chophouse and Bar are assessable on the first floor. The rooms are grand and decorated pure Texas. The room service is excellent too! Stay at The Grand Hotel and enjoy the square!
Booked through expedia for client. rules state - credit card is charged at time of purchase. However it also shows a scheduled payment date, in the future. So conflicting information. Expedia emails me 2 days prior to scheduled date saying payment will be applied. I call them two different days, and their computers are down. Called hotel directly, spoke with Jacqueline. She was unsure how to help, asked me to call Jackie (GM) next morning. Tell her I will do so at 730. I do... have to call back several times to get someone to answer the phone, it is Jackie. Begin explaining issue, and she interrupts wanting me to call back later. I will never book another client into this hotel, is this is the kind of PRE stay experience they are offering.
