The minute I walked into the hotel, I fell in love with it. The lobby and dining room were beautifully furnished and we enjoyed sitting out in the lovely courtyard with wine that we purchased next door at the local grocery. The bedroom was very clean and comfortable. But the best thing about this hotel was the incredible hospitality. Caron was a great host and made the best breakfast! She, along with her sister-in-law, talked to us about the history of the hotel and the town and the Matador Ranch and answered questions about anything we wanted to know. I definitely recommend Hotel Matador to anyone looking for small town charm and hospitality. We hope to be back!

This place has Texas hospitality, great food and affordability all rolled into one. Almost too good to be true. The little grocery store next door allowed us to create a picnic on the adorable patio, and we managed to get a peek at every single room, some of which we have stayed in before. Although we were there for a motorcycle race, the highlight of the weekend was coming back to this warm, clean and inviting hotel. The sisters and even the cleaning staff roll out the red carpet every time.

About a 35 minute drive from Caprock Canyon State park. Adorable historic building with uniquely decorated rooms. We were in the quilt room. The common area is awesome. Guests can relax in an antique living room and dine together at a large table for breakfast in the dining room. The breakfast was awesome. Cheese risotto, egg and cheese quiche with avocado, bagel, and an apple dumpling with cream. We enjoyed visiting with the other guests at breakfast. The room was comfortable and clean. The three elderly sisters who run the hotel are so friendly.

A very welcoming stay with a friendly host, great food and pleasant accommodations overall. The breakfast is phenomenal and changes daily with coffee, tea and juice available. Original tin ceilings and historic architecture make this location a treasure.

The Hotel Matador Bed and Breakfast is under new management, and we had the best experience. Barbara and her husband made our stay extra special, and we will defiantly be back when in the area. Before our stay the communication was great, and they even contacted us for a special option since our stay was around Valentines. Once we arrived, we had a sweet treat (made in house) with a coffee/tea option. We had the pleasure of two breakfast meals on Saturday and Sunday and meals looked like something out of a European magazine. The flavors were just amazing, and you can’t pass up the history and heritage that we learned and was able to hear all about. Each room also has a special theme that really added to the charm of the Bed and Breakfast. A special touch is the homemade good for purchase along with some historical items to complete you stay. So, if you’re ready to take a step into some amazing Texas History, eat the best food ever and made some wonderful friends…this is your place.

We stayed at the Matador Hotel Bed and Breakfast and absolutely loved it. They were so kind and welcoming and allowed us to use their lobby / living room to visit with our family. The breakfast was wonderful with fresh fruit, homemade pastries, omelette and potatoes with
red peppers. The owner is a pastry chef and his creations are awesome. He sells them to the public and I would recommend anyone traveling thru Matador to stay here.

We were in town a couple of nights to visit family. We booked both the suite and the quilt room. The suite is large and luxurious. It works well for those with mobility issues. There is plenty of room to get around with a zero entry shower. However, those in a wheelchair may have issues accessing the toilet without taking a few steps first. We stayed during the coldest few days of the year but found the historic rooms to be warm and cozy. The new owners have taken great care to make sure the place feels comfortable and homey. The breakfast each morning is not to be missed! We left wonderfully satisfied and ready to face the day. Book at stay at the Hotel Matador, and you won't regret it. More than likely, you will be planning your next trip back!

My husband and I experienced the Hotel Matador B&B just a few days ago. This visit was so enjoyable and what a sweet find this B&B is in the little town of Matador, TX! Barbara is "the hostess with the mostest" in hospitality, graciousness, and service. Always ready to help, her main concern was that we felt at home and our needs were met. She met us at the door at our arrival and offered help with our bags and gave us a cool tour of this fascinating historical hotel, then led us to our room upstairs. Our room was comfortable with a nice king-sized bed and big tv mounted on the opposite wall, and had its own private bath. Back downstairs, the parlor was welcoming, where one could nestle in with a good book or conversation, then perhaps wander out into the adjoining courtyard, to sit under the strings of lights high overhead and enjoy the ambiance. We went out to eat - Barbara had provided the names of the local options - then came back to the Hotel for the evening. The next morning we were looking forward to the wonderful breakfast in the dining area at 8:30, so we got ready and headed downstairs. Oh, my! Barbara greeted us, poured OJ and hot coffee, and soon brought forth an absolutely wonderful breakfast! - We invited Barbara to sit and chat (we were the only ones there that morning) and oh what a wonderful time we had, sharing stories and hearing the cool cuckoo clock chirp from time to time. If you are ever in the Matador area and need a place to stay for a night or two or ten, you will surely enjoy the Hotel Matador B&B!

We stopped here on a whim, and it was great! The couple who runs the hotel were very gracious—even fixing eggs and toast for the hungry kids because it was late. Plus, the breakfast was delicious the next morning. We had three rooms and they were each different and very comfortable. And finally, the couples’ story of how they bought the old hotel, sight unseen, is incredible and very entertaining. We can’t wait to go back!
