We stayed one night before our drive to Big Bend National Park. Loved our room in the Los Portales section of the hotel. I highly recommend! Nice shared courtyard, plenty of room to sit and enjoy the beautiful scenery of the gardens. No tv but wifi was very good. Room was very spacious and tastefully appointed. Trains (across the street)... More

We visited the Gage Hotel while passing through Marathon Texas. We didn't stay there but we explored the whole property and will definitely stay here on another trip. The furnishings are worldly and so quaint. The staff was friendly and allowed us access to the property. We took some great photos through the the place.

It is a beautiful historic hotel in the middle of nowhere it seems. Beautifully decorated lobby area welcomes you. We enjoyed rocking on the front porch and in the fire pit area in the evenings. Even in the middle of summer the evenings had a nice breeze. Our room was in the actual hotel and was nicely decorated and the... More

I love everything about this peaceful place - just wish we were there longer this time. The architecture, pool and gardens are all beautiful. Our room was comfortable, thoughtfully appointed, and the spa like shower is perfect for weary travelers. The staff is welcoming and accommodating. We arrived after the restaurant was supposed to close at nine, but they took... More

I have stayed at the Gage several times with friends over the past several years. We love it so much we keep going back every year. It is a boutique hotel with a rustic feel to it. The rooms and resort are beautifully decorated. The pool is nice, and the grounds have several areas that you can build fires on,... More

My friend and i stayed in the historic part of the hotel that had two oversized twin beds. The room was small but had it's own bathroom with shower. The beds were quite comfortable and quality was evident in everything. We ate at the 12 Gage Restaurant and I had the steak and my friend the salmon. Extremely overpriced and... More

We stayed at the gage July 16th weekend. When we checked in our room wasn't ready so we hung out at the pool for a couple of hours. The front desk called us not long after we arrived that our room was ready but we enjoyed some pool time. (we were lucky to find one small table) It got progressively... More

Had a great time at this old historic and very nicely updated hotel. Food was awesome! Bar is neat, spa was great, pools nice, staff is very friendly. Small and not crowded feeling even though the hotel seemed full. Not much to do in Marathon but that was exactly what we wanted for this trip. Perfect for a relaxing getaway.... More

There are so many wonderful places to stay near Big Bend, but the Gage Hotel is our favorite. The hotel is so peaceful and just gorgeous. The pool is great, with it's own bar, the rooms are comfortable and beautifully decorated. The 12 Gauge Restaurant, and the White Buffalo Bar should not be missed. Do yourself a favor and have... Hotel is exceptional Very well restored with nice pool area and common spaces. We stayed in the newer los portales addition and the rooms are Large and... More
