We stayed July 16-17. We had two rooms. 1 room the sink drained very slow and commode stopped up easily. (Had to call to have it unstopped once) 1 room the sink drained very slow. Tub was rusty, the bottom of the tub was ruff, and stopper was broke so you had to hold stopper up to drain tub. Carpets were stained by the 9th floor elevators. Coffee shop was out of coffee beans so you could not get coffee specials. Elevators were not running right the time we were there. Waiting time was long. Then they were fixed then, They were down again. Trash cans outside were overflowing most of the time. Was very disappointed in this hotel.
I was in Lubbock to officiate at the beautiful Sports Performance Center at Texas Tech. The Overton Hotel is absolutely top-notch. The rooms are very well-appointed and comfortable. The front desk staff is outstanding. The rooms are kept spotless. The Overton is also within easy walking distance to the Texas Tech campus. I always enjoy staying at the Overton
My husband and I along with our 18 yr old son stayed for 3 nights because my son is attending college in Lubbock in the fall. We drive 7 hrs to get to Lubbock, when we visit. Here are the pros: Its clean, Its beautiful, its 1 mile from the University, they have Netflix and Hulu available, they were fairly helpful, they offered a discounted rate for University Orientation visitors Here are the cons: They gouge the prices at the higher visitation time frames (to rebook at move in time is double the price) and far above all the other hotels, for being as "fancy" as they seem the concierge service was lacking, the iron in the room streaked grease on a white shirt of ours and they did not offer to replace it, we left our sons ear pods in the room by mistake at check out time, but realized it 30 mins after we left and went back and they were no where to be found (they didn't seem concerned at all), basically made a call and then said "no, noone has seen any ear pods and room has been cleaned already ". So we left, but gave our contact number. We never received any contact at all, from a manager maybe just saying they're sorry but they looked for them, etc. (Someone has a $150 pair of ear buds now.), the breakfast was listed online as "included" but is $13/pp for a very terrible/stale breakfast. You can also order off the menu (same location as said breakfast) but the prices are outrageous. Our (3 of us) drinks were separate from the $13 breakfast. So for some old eggs, a bagel w/cream cheese, 2 slices of bacon each and a coffee for me was $54. My husband has had gastric sleeve surgery so he eats less than a toddler. The pool was okay, but dirty. I put my bathing suit in the tub after I removed it and brown water was dripping out of it. I placed it on a towel while I showered and the towel rurned brown where it had laid on it. We travel alot. We've been to Mexico 12xs, New York, Hawaii and several states within the US. We have even stayed in Lubbock previously. So im a little bit of a hotel snob, but I like to get what I pay for. And when I'm paying hundreds of dollars to simply sleep in a bed for 24 hrs, I expect a certain level of , well everything. So the overton was fine, but not worth the 8.9 out of 9 rating it had, which is why I chose it.…
Lovely room with a terrific view, very comfortable and spacious. We ducked into the floor lounge and it was very nice but only had some sodas in the fridge due to covid. Tables and chairs for any meals you might want to bring in. I appreciated the free self parking and the valet gave me his own newspaper in the morning to check out. Breakfast was very good and the wait staff very nice. We had drinks on the patio and ordered dinner out there one evening as the temperature was pleasant. Overall, I would recommend this as a good location to see anything in Lubbuck...we weren't there for the nearby university!
Such a pleasant experience staying at this gem and I travel for a living! The reception visually was grand and right from the start the staff, amenities, restaurant and rooms were impeccable. The Front desk was efficient, accommodating and organized. Herman, at concierge just went above and beyond the entire two weeks I was there. The restaurant staff, food, drink everything was executed perfectly. A class upgrade compared to any other hotel in Lubbock.
