Baia das Pedras was the last stop on our two-week trip to the north and south Pantanal, which we booked through Brazil Nature Tours. We drove from another fazenda, Barranco Alto, and the drive was about 3 1/2 hours over non-existent roads. Just know that your kidneys and back are going to take a beating anywhere you drive in the...

We spent 17-days in the Pantanal, North and South, 4 lodges, and this was our absolute favorite. The wildlife viewing excursions were from an open top vehicle or twin-cab pick-up. The animals are used to the vehicles and they do not appear to be disturbed by the noise or presence. Our drivers were the owners, Rita or Carlos, which made...

It is impossible to say in a review how amazing Baia das Pedras is. It is a bit of a challenge to get there, but once you are there, you never want to leave. The owners, Carlos and Rita, were incredibly gracious and helpful. The excursions were first rate, and the staff there was friendly and very hard-working. The food...

What a fantastic place, hosts, food, rooms, and the wildlife. Where to start: We were met by Carlos our host who had driven across the Pantanal to meet us. We explained that we might like to stop occasionally on our way to his home and the journey took us over three hours because there was so much to see, but...

We spent 4 nights with friends staying at this amazing place hosted by Rita and her husband and helpers. This beautiful place is in the middle of nowhere but surrounded with such a diverse display of wildlife birds, animals and vegetation. The food, accommodation, daily program were just superb and we were treated like a family members. The tour was...

Surely this is the best place to stay to experience the Pantenal. Hosts Carlos and Rita are genuinely welcoming and keen to share their love for the area. The homestead is beautiful and spacious and the rooms very comfortable. Meals were fabulous, shared with the family with lots of choice. An astounding range of wildlife to see on the property...

Then this is not for you. But if you are looking for a 5 Star experience, with the owners treating you like family, then stop looking. This is it!!! As another reviewer said, this is what a trip to the Pantanal should be.

Much More than a hotel. Owners took care of us. Cattle Farmers for 3 generations, gave priceless tips on how they manage 4000 head of cattle in the wilderness. We saw wild animals in the hundreds every day, anteaters, wild boars, emas, araras, deer, crocs, puma with pup killed a calf and more. Ask them and the'll teach you what...

Everyone else who has written a great review is correct- great people, wonderful food, simple accomodations etc. I will give you all a few tips that might be useful when you go. Breakfast is at 6:30 followed by a ride in a jeep or on horseback. This early morning time avoids the heat of the day. Take binoculars. There are so...

Rita and Carlos, the owners of Baia das Pedras receive you like family and make you feel like that during the entire stay. The food, the excursions and Rita's eye for all the wildlife makes it a perfect retreat for nature-lovers.The fazenda is also functioning as the fieldstation of two biologists and their teams, studying the giant armadillo and tapir....
