I stayed here with my husband for a special 40th Anniversary trip. The location is set in beautiful rolling hills with great onsite hiking trails. Beautiful birds on property for bird lovers. I highly recommend the Bush Lodge accommodation, which is a wonderful splurge!. Deliciousl breakfast and gourmet dinner included. The location is nearby Abel Tasman Park, where we took a Great Day Out cruise and hike.

Very wonderful and accommodating staff. We stayed in the main lodge in an upstairs room with a little patio overlooking the mountains. Small pool, however the water was freezing! (I’m a little spoiled I like my water in the pool warm). It was lovely relaxing by the pool however after a busy day. The lodge also had hiking trails throughout the property which was nice we took advantage of those. The lodge had cocktail hour for the guests as well as communal dining which was nicer than I thought it would be. I thought the food was good my husband less so. Breakfast was self serve with choices of hot breakfast as well. The lodge was our last night in New Zealand prior to flying home from Nelson airport which was an easy one, one and a half drive

My wife and I stayed at the Resurgence Lodge in early February. We were touring New Zealand for four weeks. Fortunately our GPS was working well. Locating the Resugence without it might have been a challenge. I would have had to use a map. Remember those? It is very isolated which adds to the charm of the place. When we pulled up we were barely out of the car when we were greeted by the manager Kayla (sp.?). "Greetings. You must be Jim and Jane. So glad you're here." We had a similar reception at the Lake Taupo Lodge in Taupo. Are these people serious?! Incredible friendliness and hospitality. Kayla showed us to our aptly named "Lonely Lake Cabin". Cozy, comfortable, tidy, well equipped. Our porch overlooked the woods. The silence was deafening, except for the birds chirping. At Happy Hour we met numerous other guests from the USA, UK and elsewhere. Great conversations, interesting folks. The dinner was outstanding. In particular the lamb. Kayla and her husband Adrian are the managers. They looked after our every need. I've never experienced such sincere hospitality anywhere besides the Lake Taupo Lodge. Throughout New Zealand we experienced vastly superior service, friendliness and hospitality. But this Resurgence Lodge is incredible. One morning I sat on the porch and listened to bird songs I've never heard before. What a concert! Resurgence is one of the most unique and superior lodging experiences I've ever had.

Thank you for this phenomenal review! We try our best to make our guests feel welcome and at home during their stays and what a pleasure to read it's working. We're glad you enjoyed Lonely Lake, the other guests company, the trust-the-chef dinners (New Zealand lamb is indeed delicious!) and the birds' serenade. We hope this won't be your last visit to Aotearoa or The Resurgence, we certainly look forward to hosting you and Jane again. Thank you, Kayla and Adrian

We have just left the Resurgence and wished we could have stayed longer. In the absence of the owners, our hosts Adrian and Kayla made us feel very welcome and nothing was too much trouble for them. We are nearing the end of our six week tour of OZ and NZ (celebrating our “special birthdays”) and the Resurgence was the perfect place for us to recharge, relax, and enjoy the stunning tranquility of the Riwaka Valley. Cannot believe one or two of the comments read on trip advisor regarding the food as the breakfast taken in our lodge (our choice, as a full cooked version at the main lodge was on offer both days) was an excellent array of local products and more than would be available in some top hotels. Sitting on the terrace drinking quality coffee, local apple juice and products taking in the surrounding stunning scenery was sublime. Dinner began by having an aperitif and some local wines on the balcony before being served lovingly prepared food by the resident chef. We opted not to plan anything on our visit there, as we wanted to take full advantage of our surroundings and accommodation. A walk to the resurgence of the local river (sacred to the indigenous people), followed by a challenging walk round the area was enough for us to reward ourselves with a welcome soak in our own hot tub..bliss We would recommend the Resurgence to anyone who wants to ‘get away from it all’ and be assured that the care, and attention to detail during your stay, will be of the highest quality. Thank you again to Adrian and Kayla for making our stay there one of the our most memorable of our trip.

Thank you for the beautiful review! We're glad you got to relax and recharge at the lodge. We're also happy to hear you made the most of the amenities, from the bush walks, to the breakfast, to the hot tub, it sounds like the two of you had a lovely, quiet time at The Resurgence and that's what we aim to provide our guests. We hope you made it back home safely and we look forward to welcome you and Doug again in the future. Thank you, Kayla and Adrian

First we were surprised as the long and winding road to this lodge almost never ended. Upon arrival we were greeted by our 2 lovely hosts Kayla and Adrian. The lodge is nicely situated in the “wilderness” but offers an outside pool and a sauna Our room whilst well equipped, however, was very small - it was a challenge to open our big luggage cases. There is a very small balcony. This was a bit disappointing given the expectations generated by the term “luxury” and the price. The 4 course dinners which we enjoyed during our 3 nights were absolutely superb. The apero with and finger food before very delicious. Kayla and Adrian did an excellent job. Due to the set dinner time and the community table we got to know the other guests and had very nice exchange with people from around the world. Overall, it was a lovely experience, especially because of the 2 hosts who made us feel at home. 5 stars for them! The size the room, however, reduces the overall rating to 4.

Hi Martina & Klaus I am so glad you enjoyed your stay with us, the food and the evening dinners and our hospitality. We have 3 room types. Your agent booked you one of our Ensuite Rooms which are described on our website as 'Hotel-style rooms with a small balcony, these rooms are comfortable with ample seating in the guest lounge, around the pool and on the verandah and proximity to dining and lodge facilities make these rooms very popular. Ideal for couples on a budget looking for a relaxed fully hosted Boutique Lodge experience with full cooked breakfasts, aperitifs at sunset and lodge dining each evening. 20-25m2 with 3-4m2 balcony'. NZ$845 including aperitifs & 4-course trust-the-chef dinner We also have 6 very big, standalone suites, 3 Bush Chalets are 35m2 with 20m2 balcony and 3 Bush Lodges are 50m2 with 20m2 balcony, these are NZ$945 - $1045 Feed this back to your agent so they book the right room for their next clients. I am sure you would have loved a Suite - but perhaps these were already booked and not available as they do sell out very early for peak dates.
