My husband and I spent a couple of nights in the Juniper Cottage and couldn’t have had a better experience. We enjoyed gourmet dinners on our own porch with views of the hill country. I liked our dessert so much that I asked for the recipe, and the head chef sent me the recipe with detailed instructions. The cottage was cozy and immaculate, and the staff was friendly and helpful while being careful and respectful about Covid safety. This was our only trip since Covid, and I highly recommend Sage Hill Inn to anyone looking for a safe, relaxing escape with the added luxury of creative, delicious dinners.

Unfortunately the oven did not heat consistently and some equipment did not work to heat the food properly but our server Bryson was absolutely amazing! He catered to our every need. The apple plum Chris was never heated through and had a mound of dry flour on top that made me choke. The steak with aioli was great night one but night three was awful. The chicken and fish were not cooked through. It was just very inconsistent from night to night and dish to dish. You could tell it was an oven issue. I’ve been coming here for years and I could tell it was under new management and the changes were not for the better.

I have nothing but positive experience with my stay at Sage Hill Inn starting from when I made my reservation. I initially reserved one of the suites because of the sunset and sunrise views of the room as described however I changed my reservation for social distancing reason amid the pandemic. Eric was very accommodating! We stayed in the Red Oak cottage and was the perfect choice! It was private, quiet and away from other guests in the main inn. The room was spacious for 2 people. It was clean and looked well-maintained. And we loved the nespresso machine! Our bed faced the east so it was so nice to wake up to a beautiful sunrise. I commend Eric and Alex for their excellent customer service! Actually all the staff were friendly and attentive to our needs. Our signature spa package was wonderful! Food was great beyond our expectation. We ordered our menu selection prior to our arrival and reserved dining room seating for dinner and delivery service for breakfast. Great dinner and service with beautiful sunset view! Continental breakfast was more than enough for us, muffins were still warm. I loved the hiking trails! Beautiful sceneries, wildlife plants and many deer in the run! Being a frontliner, I was glad to observe COVID protocols in action; limited diners and spaced out tables in the dining room. Social distance was not a big issue due to few guests in a large open spaces in the property. I suggest hand sanitizers available in various locations.

Our stay was Oct 9-11, 2020. Mountain Laurel Cabin. Note the name of the cabins may be different online. They changed the names. We booked the Mountain Laurel cabin for a 40th birthday celebration during Covid oct 2020 (sleeps 2). We read reviews and hope my honest and open review will help you. Average Score- We scored our stay with Sage Hill Inn average because for over $500 per night, we shouldn’t have experienced some of the following: THE BAD Dirty Air grate- We expected the cabin to be clean especially during Covid 2020. It was not. The air return vent was black and grey completely covered with dirt (see pic). I’m sure if the return air grate was covered the air filter was probably in poor shape making the air quality poor. The inn promotes health as a spa but neglected the air quality of guests. Hot water took forever to fill tub- The cabin bathroom had a soaking tub however it literally took over 30 minutes to get hot water to cover the top of the bottom air jet. (See video). The water pressure was low. This was very disappointing because if we wanted to take a bath, we would have to start the process and let the tub water run between 40-50 minutes. For a nightly fee over $500 this was unacceptable. Dirty floor- The bedroom floor was dirty (see pic). The bathroom river rock tile might have been pretty while new but it has a dirt look like the dirt wasn’t able to be picked up between the rocks. During Covid, we were hoping the cabin to feel clean and safe and this combined with the dirty bedroom floor and air return grate didn’t give us this feeling. Cabin close to another cabin- We were told it was off by itself but was surprised to see other nearby cabins about 50 feet away. No biggie... they built a fence in the back separating the yards. I would’ve preferred the inn employee not make it sound like we were secluded from other guest cabins. Fire pit was gas- While we were booking, we were told it had its own fire pit but was disappointed it was gas, not wood burning. Lighting it was a little scary as the only way to get it lit was to basically turn the gas valve up and strike a flame making a large explosive flame. Artificial gas logs completely cover the gas pipe so you can’t get the lighter close to the pipe therefore you must turn the gas up. Wood would’ve been our preference. Scorpion / nature sounds / traffic noise- This isn’t the inns fault or control but we killed a medium size scorpion inside the cabin on the floor between the bedroom and bathroom. Luckily we didn’t step on this barefoot. The cabin is in nature. At night we could hear the sound of coyotes and crickets. During the morning you could hear traffic from the highway off in the distance and chirping birds. We loved the sounds of nature but was a bummer to hear the sound of traffic. The small refrigerator wouldn’t cool down our drinks and snacks so we dialed up the thermostat to make it colder. When we did this, it got cooler but made a very high pitch sound all night. The toilet was small and had a small circular seat.... this wasn’t comfortable for a man with man parts. THE GOOD Food- Our stay included dinner. Dinner was served at the main lodge. They had a good selection. We could select one of three entrees. Wine was extra. Close to Wimberley Tx. Fun little town in the hill country. Beautiful sunsets. The inn and cabins sit on top of the hill, back of lodge and cabins face west. Close to wineries. Beautiful grounds with flower and vegetable garden. Rocking chairs off the back of the common lodge were perfect for watching the sunset. Coffee and good selection of tea provided in the library. Soap provided in the bathroom shower is their spa line and smelled wonderful. We enjoyed the see-through fireplace(bedroom/bathroom). Overall we made it a good weekend. We stay in resorts all over the US and it is our opinion the Sage Hill Inn is overpriced. Our cabin should’ve been really clean for a fee over $500 per night. Kevin M Oct 9, 2020

Me and my husband have spent the weekend at Sage Hill Inn and what a wonderful experience that was. We stayed at the Red Oak Cottage which it was perfect for us, private, spacious and very very clean! Recommend dinner at the patio for the most beautiful sunset view, and then hangout at their fireplace little area. We thought it was a great couples getaway but they had groups of friends as they have different kind of accommodations, so if fits so many different kind of vacation. We also enjoyed the proximity to Wimberley to get out a bit for shopping and wineries. The staff also is amazing (Alex and Molly made our stay awesome), very friendly and attentive to your needs. We did some hiking and played games, but also loved seeing the deers just walking around!

The wildlife is an amazing part of the hill country. Watching the deer roam around can be relaxing. Hope to see you again in the near future.
