Detailed Reviews
I cannot say enough how much we enjoyed our three nights at Ethridge Farms. Anne and Jay were welcoming, friendly and helpful. Anne makes a wonderful country breakfast and Jay keeps the place in tip top shape under the close supervision of Runt, the dog.
Easy access to Big Thicket but also to grocery stores (Brookshire Brothers) and other necessities of life.
There was plenty of AC in the Mayhaw Cabin and a good fan on the front porch to keep the bugs away.
Plenty of space between the cabins. We didn't hear anything while we were there. A charcoal grill and charcoal were provided and we grilled steaks one night for dinner.
If you are planning a trip to the area, I highly encourage a stay here.

We stayed in the Blueberry Hill cabin and loved it! Fresh blueberry picking was available right outside the cabin door. It was such a peaceful and quiet place for us to enjoy a few days of relaxation. Ms Ann serves delicious breakfasts every morning which was such a treat! We made a quick day trip down to the Gulf of Mexico and then spent time in the Big Thicket park. So much to do, or not do, depending on what you enjoy. We will definitely go back again!

Wow! Taking a step back in time and enjoying our room attached to the lodge. Parts were built in 1900, 1920, and 1938! Solid beautiful wood, antiques, and cozy. The service was unbeatable. The breakfast was incredible with fresh fruit and the fluffy biscuits with mayhaw jelly. I had to bye some of my own because it was so tasty. The property is well manicured and huge with trails, spring, and ponds. It was like staying with family before our adventure to big thicket. We were on our way back home to San Antonio from Florida and treated ourselves even the the price was extremely comparable to any regular hotel. Thank you!

We just spent a wonderful weekend in the Big Thicket area of east TX. This B&B was the perfect home base for our adventure. Ann, the Innkeeper/Owner, truly enjoys her guests. She served wonderful, hearty breakfasts, and we also opted for dinner. All meals were delicious and homey. Our cabin was charming, very clean and fresh, and comfortable. We went blueberry picking on the farm, canoeing on a nearby river and walking through the Big Thicket trails. As a unique adventure, we drove the Ghost Light trail and actually saw the ghost light! Creepy! Now that we're back home, we're looking forward to going back in the Fall for Satsuma season. Thank you, Ann, for a wonderful weekend!

On our way through the US, we stayed 3 nights in the Cabin on Blueberry Hill, too. There's another (newer) cabin. Surrounded by wilderness and managed by a wonderful lady - it's THE place to be in the Big Thicket (unless you prefer luxury class hotels). You also may want to check out details on the website http://www.ethridgefar.... Nothing more to say.
Hello Miss Ann, a big hug from your friends from Germany.

Was unable to book a hotel room in Beaumont,TX due to the aftermath of Hurricane Ike. We found this bed and breakfast on the internet and decided to take a chance. It is very secluded - at the end of a country road. We stayed in the lodge room (two twin beds) - large room with fireplace, etc. I probably would not chose this room again because of the bed situation. However, we were able to look at the other choices. The first is a room with private bath. King bed and only bathtub (clawfoot). It is in the oldest part of the cabin. The "Cabin on Blueberry Hill" is also nice. It is the most secluded with two bedrooms; one had a king bed, the other had two twins a small kitchen area and bath. Nice porch. There is a hot tub available for an additional $15 per night. Breakfast was great with a breakfast casserole, sausage gravy, biscuits, fresh fruit and mahaw jelly. Jay (the caretaker/cook) was great. They have lots of fruit trees, etc. Very relaxing place. I would stay here again when I want a relaxing retreat.

We were looking for somewhere to stay just outside of Houston on our way to New Orleans and found this gem. We only stayed one night, but it deserves a week. We stayed in the Barn Hideaway, which was decorated in an authentic Texas style. Ann cooked us a candlelight dinner of Texas BBQ and a traditional Texan breakfast with biscuits, eggs, grits, figs and more, which was all divine. The farm itself is a paradise of wildlife. Well worth a stay.

We just got home from our 1 year anni.\honeymoon and I have to say it was nothing I expected. THis place was amazing to say the least all the bauetiful flowers blooming, the birds chirping, and Anne the caretaker. From beginning to end our stay here was fantastic! We stayed at Deer Run Cabin it was tastfuly decorated we loved the theme, and the ourdoor shower under the stars was so romantic. The candlelit dinner brought to our cabin was Terrific,so much flavor! Then we were lucky to get a private concert on the lodge patio by another guest that happened to be a Counrty artist ,the service from Anne Ethridge is unsurpassed , If anyone wanted idea's for a romantic getaway for two this is the place there is so much to see on the grounds. we never had to leave . And they have fresh fruit gardens and trees to pick from and they sell homemade jams and jellies from there .Mrs Anne was a delight to be around and makes you feel right at home. This is deffinatley a little slice of paradise in "The Big Thicket"! We will cherish our memories of our stay!

I grew up in North Texas but moved to New York in my 20s. After some time, I decided I needed an escape from the big city, and Ethridge Farm delivered.
Ann was wonderful to deal with on the phone and by email. She was just so kind and accommodating. The farm is isolated in the middle of nature, and there's a little pond, some adorable dogs that run free, and just a feeling of serenity and freedom that permeates the whole surroundings. The log cabins add to the authentic outdoorsy feel, and there's a certain coziness about it all that I just can't convey in words.
In the morning, we had breakfast with Ann. It really did feel like visiting grandma's house. Other guests also stopped by, and even though we were all strangers, it felt a little bit like a family reunion. Ann's mayhaw jelly is really delicious, and we bought plenty to take home.
Before we left, Ann let us pick some persimmons and satsumas to take home with us. They were so delicious :-). In fact, I'm eating a persimmon as I type this review. It's not from her farm, but every persimmon I eat from now on will evoke this fond memory, and this is what compelled me to write this review today.
If you need a relaxing weekend in Texas, or if you're visiting the Big Thicket, stay here. It is a true hidden gem. I will absolutely come back someday.

My companion invited me to the Ethridge Farm for the weekend to celebrate my birthday. Ann, the owner, is a genuine person who loves having guests. She cooks for you. There are only three cabins and we stayed on the Historic Blueberry Hill. This cabin is decorated very Texan and rustic. It has a porch with a swing and you can even grill outside and bring logs to make smores and have a campfire when it's cooler. There is fruit on the property to be picked. We were there on the second weekend of September and there were persimons and lemons. Ann also has jellies for sale. For breakfast she had wonderful warm fluffy buscuits with mayhaw jelly. For dinner she cooked brisket, zuchini and new potatoes with dill. It was delicious. She put dill on the new potatoes and warmed up the bread with rosemary sprigs around it, giving it a wonderfult taste. She served a dinner salad with lettuce from her own yard in the farm. We brought wine and she had set up wine glasses for us on the dinner table as she doesn't have a liquor license. Dinner and breakfast are in the main cabin where she stays. But there's an option of her bringing a candlelight dinner to your cabin too. The cabin is fully stocked with dishes and sleeps about four. The bathroom was really spacious too. The king-size bed was very comfortable with a very rustic comforter. There's a spa in the property and you have to reserve it in advance so that she can plug it on early in the day. It's $15 to use. You can look at the bright sky with absolutely no smog or polution while enjoying the jacuzzi. Ann will help you pick fruit if she's around. She was very gracious and I'm ready to go back.
