The rates are not what are posted. They are higher. There is no breakfast but the rate is the same. The exterior lighting does not work, very dark to walk. Steps are rotten. Bed is sagging. Furniture is shabby, missing handles etc. Exterior is trashy, broken limbs, dirty ass trays, very unkept. Bathroom sink was rusty. Flower beds unkept. Broken glass panes In doorway. I expressed my concerns to the management, and never got a response.
The location of this cottage is great, (why i rated it a two) without the consideration of the location it would be a 1. The property is in definite need of upkeep and upgrades. Stayed in the rustic retreat cabin and it just felt dark, smelly, and dusty. Too much clutter and dust. There was a dusty fake Christmas tree half done in the kitchen area??? In July? I was afraid to sleep in the bed before checking for bugs and the bed sagged really bad! There is no place to hang clothes. There is a cabinet but it was full of other stuff. Carpet in the bathroom....Enough said,... There was a sink and fridge "area " (old closet). Everything seemed so dingy, cheap and thrown together. The couch and day beds may have come from a low end garage sale. There were dead bugs (big roaches) on the windowsill . For the price, I expected more. The sheets were low quality and the towels looked like left overs. Basically there was nothing special about this place other than the location. I do not understand the high ratings. The property had a swing you could not use due to overgrowth and the outdoor common areas were dirty and have been for some time. I travel regularly and rent cottages all over the place. This place was an extreme let down for all of us. Overpriced and did not meet our expectations. I saw so many other well kept cottages and B & B in the area worthy of the $200+ per night rate, We could not wait to get out of there. I would pass on this property until they do some major updates and invest in some higher quality bedding, lighter paint, etc....…
Love this place, we've stayed here at least four times. This visit we were in "The Romantic Retreat" cozy and relaxing, love the claw footed tub. Very close to downtown, most everything in walking distance. Highly recommend!
This cottage was wonderful! It was cozy, private and had everything we needed. It is also conveniently located very close to town. I loved the feel of the cottage as it reminded me of my grandparents home. The owners were friendly and easy to contact. The check in was slightly confusing as there were no instructions on the website or the confirmation email.
We’ve stayed here twice during our many trips to Jefferson. It’s the perfect size for two people. It’s also very close to the center of town, well within walking distance. It’s quiet with a nice yard for sitting. The hostess was nice.
What a wonderful , cozy , place to stay , and so close to town , we walked with no worries and had fun sight seeing. We were made to feel right at home like a home away from home , thank you so much Belinda ! And the bed ! OMG! Like a cloud ! Slept like a baby! Totally made the Birthday surprise .
We stayed in The Rustic Cottage. It has a king bed, day bed, small kitchen and small table. It was just what we were looking for. This B&B is not perfect, a few little things could have been better. Overall, I gave it 5 stars because we really enjoyed our stay.
The Austin Street Cottage's are located on a pretty tree lined street within walking distance to downtown shops and restaurants. The lovely grounds are so inviting and the cottage (Rustic Retreat) was perfectly appointed with all the comforts of home. Highly recommended! Belinda, you were such an inspiration to us-thank you so much for all your help and ideas for our upcoming move!
My girlfriend and I wanted to take a little getaway and check out this town. She had been there before but did not get to take everything in that trip. We stayed at the Austin Street Cottages and found our unit to be very cozy and comfortable and adequate for our needs. The owner was very nice. She came to check that we got in and all was to our liking and assured us that she was close by if we needed anything. We brought our own snacks and drinks, but there was a little basket of snacks on the table for us too. The town of Jefferson is very old, quaint and interesting. A lot of history there and antique shops, a few galleries and really great restaurants! We never had a bad meal. Everyone in the town, especially the shopkeepers, were very friendly and helpful, giving us advice on where to go and taking time to visit with us. We felt very comfortable with them... the small town feel! Took a lot of pictures. Enjoyed the live band at dinner on Friday. I just wish we had had one more day to check things out because there were places we weren't able to get to and we never got down to the river area. The flea market was a bit of a disappointment. That was the only negative. It just wasn't as huge as we thought it would be, but very nice people. We did the ghost tour too and it was fun, but of course, we experienced nothing this time. We would go back. If you want a relaxing and comfortable getaway, this is it!…
Our cottage had a private bath with stained glass windows and a old claw foot tub. Also it had a living room, bedroom, dinning room and kitchen. Private feel in a cozy setting. We liked it, and loved Jefferson.
