This is our fifth visit and the hospitality of the people never disappoints us. We stayed in our favorite Diamond Bessie suite. Very quiet area in the off-season if that's what you're looking for. The plantation breakfast is only offered during the weekend but they do offer a continental breakfast per request during the week.

We had an amazing visit to The Excelsior House, made entirely memorable by the manager Michael. This is a beautiful, historic, atmospheric and charming hotel in a quaint town filled with the most genuinely kind people. We visited from Scotland and this hotel means I will need to save up to get back really soon. Thank you again Michael x

We really enjoyed the Excelsior House Hotel. Staff was really gracious and helpful. Breakfast was wonderful. Beautiful antiques, Interesting guest registers on view, Ulysses S. Grant, Rutherford B. Hayes, and Lady Bird Johnson all stayed there. We will be back.

My friend and I live just outside of Dallas and travel to Jefferson at least once or twice a year. We alternate between the Jefferson hotel and the Excelsior because we like the different experiences both hotels have to offer. The Excelsior is quiet, the rooms very well maintained and clean. We stayed in the Grant room this time. It... More

We both enjoyed the history of the hotel and the beautiful courtyard garden. The claw-foot tub brought back good memories of our childhood. The Amazing General Store was only a short walk away. The town of Jefferson is a must visit!

This hotel is definitely worth the price. But, it is old and it shows it's age. The tub was probably the worst part. The enamel was peeling off very badly. The entire bathroom slants toward the tub. The wallpaper is coming off the wall and both of the beds were broken. The positives are the staff and the location. We... More

We enjoyed the history of The Excelsior House. Our room was on the 2nd floor, west wing with 2 windows that looked out over the side garden. The bed was comfortable. There was ample closet space, 2 rocking chairs, a clawfoot tub, and a fireplace. We enjoyed the southern breakfast in the large dining room where we shared a table... More

I enjoyed the history of the hotel and the beautiful courtyard garden. The breakfast was very nice. The town of Jefferson was very quiet in the evening with very few stores open. The museum in the old courthouse was fascinating.

This was our first stay at the Excelsior. EVERYONE was friendly & helpful, beautiful hotel & delicious breakfast. I lost a charm while there. Called after we arrived back home. They found it & mailed it back to me. Superior service!

My wife and I spent a couple nights here. The bed was very comfortable. The room had been recently remodeled. I would recommend this place to stay. It is conveniently located a block off the main retail area. We were able to walk to all the areas we wanted to visit. I also enjoyed looking at all the old signin... More
