Other hotels would be well advised to hire the management and staff at the Lancaster to teach them how to create a proper guest experience. Each interaction with a Lancaster team member was pleasant and consistent, from requesting a table at its restaurant, conversing with the person servicing the room or talking with the general manager, Tom, who always seemed to be out and about making sure everyone was taken care of. There is a heart and soul to this place that I’m not sure I realized was missing at other hotels until I stayed here. The food is far better than you would expect, there is curated art on the walls, and there are welcoming gifts when you arrive (glass of champagne, snacks in the room etc. Nothing is showy or over the top, but just well done. This place is outstanding.

Hotel's Favorite
This was my first and hopefully not my last stay at the stunning hotel. My room included stunning art work, luxurious bath toiletries, yummy COMPLEMENTARY snacks and ultra comfy bed. Upon my arrival to my room, I was greeted with a complimentary cheese plate to welcome my stay. Once I was able to get settled into my room, I headed downstairs to the restaurant to meet up with a friend for lunch. I decided the try the Lancaster salad and oh my goodness, that was the MOST delicious salad, I've ever tasted. The service at our meal was so amazing that we decided to head to the bar to continue our visit. At the bar we tried the Candied Pecan Old Fashion drink...sooo delicious! The hotel stay included the most delicious breakfast, complete with eggs, breakfast meats, potatoes, fruits, oatmeal and various breads and pastries, all complimentary and part of your stay. The hotel more than exceeded my expectations and made sure every tiny detail was taken care of. HIGHLY recommend The Lancaster Hotel

Visiting Houston twice a month, I had typically staid at the Four Season which is wonderful, until a friend asked if i had stayed at The Lancaster in the Theater District. The Lancaster is now my first choice in Houston. My visit this week is a great example why the Hotel and the people endear themselves. The glass of champagne greeting each time entering the lobby is a lovely touch. Rooms are lovingly appointed and fresh as new. Within the rooms i always receive a warm hand written note from the General Manager with fruit. Every day the room is replenished with free chilled fresh sodas, juices and water as well a separate drawer of free coffees and snacks and candies. Such a nice thoughtful touch. Each morning on the Mezzanine is a handsome free breakfast buffet offered to the hotel guests. Not skimpy but a broad offering of European style meats and cheeses as well as American offerings of eggs and meats, pancakes and bread varieties. Pardon the detail but so much more than i could expect to be free with a pleasantly priced room. Should mention the remarkable art work that graces each room and floor. So tasteful. I have now stayed at The Lancaster for several years so i know their superb high level of service and food is sustained at this high level over all that time. Not often do i write reviews but the people of The Lancaster are so deserving that i hope others who have not yet experienced this remarkable boutique gem will do so. Bruce E. Fike

The hotel is beautiful and well maintained. The food is good. The staff are pleasant. However, the bartender, David Thompson, has a horrible attitude and lacks social skills. My first night stopped and asked when he closed. He shrugged his shoulders with with upward hands in annoyance. He did not speak a word. After a long pause, I asked him again and he flatly responded “Whenever the last person leaves.” I went back later. David was already talking to guests about his stance on COVID-19, vaccines, theories, and politics. The next evening David became friendlier. He took shots of Courvoisier and asked me to smoke pot with him. He suggested that we go to a small walkway between the hotel and the building next door. After I declined, David became rude again. I spent roughly $200.00 daily on food and always tipped David a minimum of 20%. The final night I was there I asked for the bill and he just tossed it in front of me. I paid the $184.03 and graciously gave him a $2.00 tip. David grabbed the receipt and walked quickly to the front desk where Keim K. was standing. I could see David and Keim K. talking for a few minutes. I ordered an Uber and went to the front desk to get my bag (a front desk clerk held my bag for me earlier). As I approached Keim H., he was visually upset. I asked for my luggage. I told him that I couldn’t find it as I searched my pockets. He responded harshly. “I won’t give you your bag unless you hand me a claim ticket.” I explained that my passport was in my bag so he could verify. He refused over and over. He then angrily told me “You can call the police if you want, but I won’t give you your bag until you hand me a ticket!” I believe Keim K.’s comment was a veiled threat that he would call the police. I told Keim H. that I would begin to film how he was treating me. He quickly unlocked the door and gave me my bag. I re-ordered an Uber and paid a $10.12 cancellation fee due to the amount of time Keim K. held me hostage. Side note: The Lancaster is a small hotel and luggage is stored next to the front desk. Also, we’d spoken at least two of the four days I was checked in. There are many fantastic people working at The Lancaster. It sucks that bad apples can ruin, an otherwise. Great experience.

This hotel had excellent customer service. It was extremely clean and comfortable. The extra perks like in room snacks and drinks was nice. They also provided two nice snack packs for our Houston Astros baseball game. The breakfast was delicious with protein and fresh fruit. They even had blueberry lemon pound cake which was delicious!
