NUMBER OF ROOMS
In general, I am pleased when staying at Hyatt Regency properties. In this case, I spent four days and three nights here and was impressed by how pleasant and helpful the entire staff was; from the front desk check-in to the servers in Sam's restaurant, to the sales staff. I must call out Caitlin Huarta, Event Coordinator, for going over and above my expectations in making accommodations for a meeting I booked on site. Hats off to Caitlin! I'll look to this hotel as my primary spot when visiting Houston i the future. The hotel name implies that it might be on IAH proper however it is not on the airport but very close and convenient to IAH - conveniently located along Rt 8 Sam Houston Pkwy between Hardy Pkwy & !-45. Convenient.
The cost of the breakfast is terrible. I literally can get the SAME breakfast for free elsewhere. There was nothing special about it and it cost $20. I won't do that again. There were no signs saying there was a cost to the breakfast. Once you sit down you are liable to pay,,,,,NOT FAIR. I would never pay $20 for runny eggs and undercooked bacon.
The room furniture was worn. There was not a place to plug in a usb phone charger. It was great to have free parking. There were 2 major freeways that were easily accessible from the hotel. The overall stay was great.
I have stayed at this hotel many times and usually have a very good experience. This trip however was not the same. My room had a problem with the main door locking me inside the room. It had twice and once after it was suppose to be fixed. The last time it locked me inside was late in the evening and I was told to move to another room down the hall. the room I moved to was a downgrade from the room I was in. I would think as a long time loyalist member I would have been upgraded for my troubles or at least sent to a similar room. Also, the staff never apologized for the issue or even mentioned it. I will have to think again before staying at this location on my future visits to Houston for work.
The clerk at check in seemed to be put out to check me in. She did not cover everything in a voice loud enough to hear, and seemed to just wanted to get rid of me. My co-worker had the same experience with her the next day. The staff at the restaurant were so very nice and attentive, it made up for the clerk.
