My wife and I loved staying here. The location is excellent as there are a lot of food options in The Heights plus access to lots of sidewalks and walking areas. Even if you're not doing anything in The Heights, it's conveniently near most things in Houston. We also enjoyed bot the large front porch and covered back area. Great for relaxing in the evening with a snack, book, or just for conversation.

We stayed in the Luxury Suite which is really more like a 1 BR apt with a kitchen and full size refrigerator etc. Lovely Place. We would highly recommend it. It is also in a great neighborhood convenient to grocery store and restaurants if you have an extended stay,

My wife had a wonderful stay at Sara's Inn. The home was beautiful with adequate parking and a spacious room. TV worked great, breakfast was delightful. Also loved the 24 hour access to coffee, tea and bottled water. Located in a very safe and family friendly neighborhood yet close to major freeway access. Definitely recommend for a nice getaway.

I want to express how terribly disappointed I am in the service we received during our big day. Firstly, Jessica was incredibly rude. She was snappy to anyone who approached her. For example: when I asked her which rooms were available so that we can assign them. She answered: “You don’t know that? You’re supposed to assign them.” Then, I reminded her each room had a different name and style, and we didn’t know which were available, and we offered the Queen Anne room and found it to be a storage room. Jessica said, “Ugh! I don’t know let me call Alex. Alex was supposed to do this.” When I asked for cake plates, Jessica said all supplies are in the kitchen and instructed me to look in there. So, I had to dig around in there. I spoke with Jessica, and she informed me her frustration was in part due to being charged with an event she did not coordinate and had no idea what was going on, and everyone is asking her questions she couldn’t answer. She dismissed my guests when they engaged her. I was under the impression that Sara’s Inn was in charge of the set-up and tear down of all chairs and tables. However, the ceremony room was not set up at 5:00 PM, so the bridal party had to set up the white folding chairs. We were told that Sara’s Inn would set up the ceremony room. The lounge chairs were still in place. My stepdad had to ask for the folding chairs, so I am not sure the staff present was aware a wedding was occurring on that day. My bridal party and a few guests were stressed out and sweating, trying to shuffle to get chairs set-up and in place. The transition of the ceremony room to high top tables/sitting lounge also happened quite slowly, and there was no seating provided in the area as discussed. High tables and seats were to replace the ceremony folding chairs, this happened gradually, and by the time it was completed, it was almost time to end. In the reception area, we were missing an entire table and chairs set-up. There was no lemonade, water, and iced tea station as we discussed leaving the breakfast beverage station set up when we came in for rehearsal, and you stated that would work. The rooms proved challenging to assign without the names of the rooms we were to assign. We knew the Empress room and Le Petite Paris were not available; however, we gave out the Queen Anne room to discover that one unavailable as well. The toilet in the Grand Lux room needed service. The chef did not clear the plates when guests finished eating even though we were told: “Our chef will replenish the Brussel sprouts and rice on the buffet area, as needed. We will have the beverages (lemonade, iced tea, and water) set-up at a station for guests to help themselves to and will refill the dispensers, as needed. She will also clear plates when your guests are finished eating.” So, I had to clear the tables of plates. I am sure I am leaving something out. I was quite overwhelmed with completing tasks left undone by your staff and underwhelmed by the service received.

Response from John Deveau, Owner at Sara's Bed & Breakfast Inn
Responded May 23, 2020
Ms. Esther Avraham, we have had dozens and dozens of weddings, showers and events over the years (33+ to be exact) and this is the first negative review so I think that says something. There are several key things you are forgetting to leave in your review so I'll add in those details that you failed to mention. First, and most importantly, you declined to use our venue for catering and said you would use your own caterer. Our contract states you are to use a licensed caterer by the City of Houston. This you failed to do. Your caterer showed up earlier in the day with absolutely nothing, went to the store and came back with FROZEN chicken which he began thawing in our sink. Our venue manager, who is a chef by background and has over a decade of catering experience, realized right then that your caterer was not licensed and in over his head. Sure enough, he didn't know that we had been asked several days prior if we could provide several side dishes (which we should have identified as a red flag), he didn't know the dinner was to be plated, and he didn't know how to set a table (which Jennifer had to show him how to properly set a table). And he didn't bring enough help to provide excellent catering service for your event. In short, he was your caterer, and he was completely unprepared; and instead of our venue manager being able to focus 100% on providing hosting services to your guests, she instead had to be in the kitchen to make sure your dinner got ready and your guests didn't get sick. Secondly, you failed to have a wedding planner or day of coordinator for your event as is also highly recommended. The table and chairs provided was what was noted in the contract. Guest rooms are all uniquely different and it is the party's responsibility to assign rooms, not the venue (and someone from your party had the list so not sure how we would have known what room each of your guests was to stay in when your party had the list). Clearing the plates off the table was your caterer's responsibility. Period. Our crew that was there for setup and tear down had to change the order they set up items because you had people erecting some temporary wedding altar with 2x4's and screws in the ceremony area (so naturally to be out of their way they instead set up the reception area first and the ceremony area last). In short, I understand planning a last minute has its challenges, but to blame the venue for things not going perfect when they could have been completely avoidable with a day-of-coordinator and a licensed caterer is wrong.
