Very cute up-scale type boutique hotel in a VERY convenient location! Shopping, dining , family activities all within miles . We stayed here when our mother had to visit MDAnderson Cancer Hospital, and it is only 1.9 miles away which was SO helpful! Also the hotel is partners with helping MDAnderson patients, so they offer discounted rates, and shuttles to & from the hosptial for appointments! The breakfast is GREAT & FREE! We appreciated the free parking for guests as well considering it is so close to downtown , it seems you pay to park everywhere! The staff was very accommodating, and pleasant. We would stay here again! Only downfall is bc Of style hotel, rooms didn’t connect .. somewhat of a disadvantage for families .

Stayed here for consult at MDA, so location is very good, albeit kind of tricky to detect and enter off Main. Well, they sure are trying...but only superficially. If there is a phrase to describe this property, it would be, “You can put lipstick on a pig, but in the end...it’s still a pig.” A lot of energy has apparently gone into how to dress this place up, but virtually no thought in to how to bring its bones up to user demand. Example? Just got a call (6:30p) that there would be no water tonite as they “...had to work on the boiler.” ...and that’s just the start... The elevator has been out of order for two days and they haven’t even put an “Out of Order” sign up! ...and they’re still putting people on the third floor. THIS IS A TEXAS MEDICAL CENTER area hotel...think about it. No hot water this morning, and that’s right, sports fans...it’s probably the boiler! Come on...HOT FREAKING WATER!? No luggage rack in any room...or even a closet! Just some cutesy cage thing with 5 hangers...cheezy to the max. Outdoor windows are all fogged...permanently: old double glazed bombers that should have been replaced years ago. Bathroom door won’t even latch...your business night as well be in the middle of the room. They do have a good breakfast...when they keep it stocked. The RE-decoration makes it a Rrally cute place, but it’s still a $60/night property...the lipstick doesn’t make up for not paying enough time and money on its infrastructure to justify its rates and rating

Our company booked this hotel, so we didn't choose it ourselves. It used to be a chain hotel, now owned by a family who remodeled it into the current operation. The rooms are quite comfortable, and the decor is actually quite functional. There's a faux antique vibe to it, but not overly done. For example, the phone was an actual metal bronzed finish phone with a keypad arranged like a true rotary dial, and instead of the run of the mill dresser/tv stand, the TV was mounted on the wall, and the refrigerator was an Igloo retro cooler in what was made to look like a large steamer trunk, which also has drawers for clothing. The bed was really comfortable and the AC worked just fine. The cooler worked a bit too well and turned our bottled water into ice blocks, but that's no big deal. There's a bar with reasonable prices and a decent selection, breakfast is standard buffet fare that could use some fresher selections, but it was adequate. There's no restaurant, but there's a great Middle Eastern food trailer I the parking lot with awesome, authentic selections, and there are any number of restaurants within a 5-10 minute walk, such as a Wing Stop, Shlotsky's Deli, Olive Garden, and a Pappa's barbecue. The issues they have are an area shuttle...free...that's too small and overworked. It's free, but that doesn't help if it meet shows up because their priority is for the numerous medical facilities and the patients who stay at their hotel. Which is fine with me, but they need another van for the rest of the guests that need to get around. The doors to the rooms stick, making you shoulder-check them open and closed. There's a moisture issue that the AC hero's with, but not quite. Other than some other minor maintenance type issues, this place is ok to stay at. There's a Kroger supermarket abs a CVS within a few hundred yards, it's pretty close to Hobby Airport and the massive medical facilities of MD Anderson and Texas Medical Center. It's got a lot of potential, and I think they'll do well in the future.

Visited Houston Stock Show and booked at Ylem Hotel. This is an average hotel with no frills. Unusual decor in this place is from around the world. Breakfast is not great for anyone who desires healthy foods. Gym was a bust with broken machines and some faced the wall..

For our first visit we were taken care of very well. I highly recommend this hotel for those planning to go to MD Anderson. The shuttle works well. It’s approximately 10 minuet ride. The hotel is in a quite safe location. Several decent restaurants with in walking distant. Breakfast could be better but not a complaint. Staff was very helpful.Again highly recommend the stay.
