This hotel had charm. Stayed three days over new years for the convenient location to explore and party down town. I would stay here again and recommend it. Everything is within 10 min uber (Lyft is usually a few bucks cheaper btw) or a walk from this hotel. Its smells great when you walk in. The room was clean, spacious and we were 7th floor on the quiet side I think, not facing the Main Street where the bars are so never had any issues with noise. We had a standard king room and I worried it would be too small but it wasn’t. Glad I didn’t spend more money to upgrade. It had a sitting area with chairs and another area for a desk, blackout curtains and a massive bathroom. The shower was a highlight because it had a rain shower above and a regular shower head. We enjoyed the boutique romantic aesthetic and color palette that wasn’t so sterile like many other similar class level hotels. Lovely for couple getaway… my actual only disappointment is lack of bathrobes in the room. There also wasn’t a microwave but there was a fridge to store leftovers and I’m sure they would let you heat food up somewhere if you asked the staff. The staff was attentive and friendly to us the whole time including Jennifer the bartender, who hooked up a late night meal for me right before kitchen closed and just had great energy. We did the valet parking which although expensive daily was super prompt, we never waited more than a few min for our car. In hindsight I would have just used Lyft and not parked a car here because it’s really affordable and likely less than the $50 per day but alas. Hope this helps!

Hotel Icon is a beautiful hotel. The lobby and dining area are beautifully decorated. We loved our room on the 5th floor. It was spacious and the bathroom is truly amazing. Double sinks and a spacious counter, large whirlpool tub and a giant walk- in shower. The towels were also super thick and nice. The bedroom was relatively quiet. You will hear the downtown noise through the bathroom but I realized if you close the bathroom door, it’s much quieter at night. There is a Keurig coffee maker but we didn’t use it, mainly because there were more decaf cups than regular! We did use the gym and it was great! Treadmills, a couple of ellipticals, bikes and weights. We had breakfast one morning - they have a large breakfast buffet at least on the weekends, and free coffee in the morning. We also used the valet service- pretty pricey- $54 per night, but their customer service was good. The location of the hotel worked well for our purpose of going back and forth to Daiken Park. Sadly, there are quite a few homeless folks in the area like any large downtown area these days and the downtown area is rocking in the evening. Flashing light shows on the building walls and lots of music from the nearby establishments. The only complaint I had was with one of the front desk clerks. She did not make us feel very welcome. When my bill showed up $200 higher than expected at check in, I asked if that was a “hold”. The lady checking us in didn’t know. She was very pleasant and welcoming. She asked the woman who had more experience about it and she told me it was a 100 hold per night for incidentals. She almost acted insulated that I had asked. Later, we started to go upstairs to look around. I had watched a You Tube video of the hotel and the 2nd floor had been highlighted as a unique space. The same young lady rudely said can I help you? I told her about the video and that we’d like to see it. She told me they were planning on a private event later and we could not go up. This particular gal had very poor customer demeanor and did not make us feel very valued. We’ve stayed at several high end Marriott hotels, I really enjoy exploring the unique qualities of those properties and it was unfortunate we could not see every area of this one.

Hotel ICON was amazing hotel. Everyone was so polite and professional. Everyone seem to enjoy providing great service. I and my wife stayed the weekend for our 24th wedding anniversary. Valets were exceptional prompt and courtesy, and I like to thank Jairo who was so responsive and friendly.
The hotel staff was also incredible, I asked for extra towels and to have the Kerig coffee maker repaired , which appears it was my operating error, but I was impressed by how quickly the hotel responded, I had a hotel staff in my room in less than two minutes. Room service was wonderful and I highly recommend Sunday brunch at Line & Lariat.
I recommend get a room with a hot tub and view of downtown Houston!

This hotel is the worst combination of dated and poorly cleaned. Positive reviews for this hotel are from people that are charmed by the hotel being a former bank, while ignoring the glaring lack of cleanliness. Between the positive reviews and the fact that this is an Autograph Collection hotel, I fell for what turned out to be a very disappointing 3-night stay. As soon as you enter the lobby, you are greeted by a nice air freshener. But as soon as you get your key and step into the elevator bank, you smell this hotel’s overwhelming musty odor. This is the same smell that exists in the guest rooms. The only way to mask it is by turning down the air conditioning temperature. In my first room, I found pieces of cockroach in the closet. I told this to the front desk and they changed me to a different room. In the second room I found a sock left behind my a previous guest. The sink also drains slow. At this point I did not feel confident about the hotel’s housekeeping standards. Unfortunately, there weren’t any other hotels available downtown for me to change to as there were 3 conferences going on at the same time, so I ended up staying here three nights. The hotel’s management, seemingly used to this sort of situation, were unfazed by complaints and did very little to try to make the situation right. They said they would clean my room more thoroughly, but I came back to the room and still found the abandoned sock in the closet (It’s likely going to be there forever). They also offered me a refund and 10,000 points, neither of which I ended up receiving, but I will follow up with the property to see if I can get what was offered. The location wasn’t perfect but walking distance to coffee and food. If your room faces Main St, you will experience noise from nearby nightlife even on higher floors. The staff at the front desk was kind and professional. Housekeeping starts knocking on doors at 8:30-9am on weekdays. I did not try any food or beverage at the hotel given the cockroach pieces I found in my first guest room. This hotel taught me that Autograph Collection means absolutely nothing in terms of quality. This hotel needs to be shut down and updated.

I ended up at this hotel due to it's proximity to the courthouse, and it was amazing. Everyone on the staff was so helpful, and friendly! The building is beautiful, and the rooms are tastefully decorated and include complimentary bottles of water and full size bottles of shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. The shower had good water pressure and was a nice size - and this is the first hotel I've stayed in where the towels don't smell like old beach. The bed was really comfortable too. There's artwork on most of the buildings which is nice to see out your window; and there's a drugstore a block away as well as several restaurants within walking distance. Overall a great hotel and a great experience!

This is my go-to hotel in downtown Houston. It's located in Market Square - a historic block in Houston with a park, several bars, restaurants and shops in walking distance. The location also offers fast and easy freeway access if you need to travel in and around the greater Houston area.
The hotel itself is unique, which I love. It's a converted bank from the early 1900's, and the original vault and other architectural details can be seen downstairs. I also love the layout of the rooms and the way they are decorated.
The staff is amazing, and valet service is fast and friendly (Mike and the others were awesome and attentive during my stay).
Oh! I can't end this without mentioning how AMAZING their breakfast meat lovers omelet is (comes with delicious crispy potatoes)!! Idk if they sprinkle unicorn dust on there or what ... but trust me - do it.

The hotel was nice and accommodating but could not fall asleep until after 2:00 am due to the blaring music straight into our room from the bar across the street. We were in room 616 for reference. Not sure the hotel can do anything about it but some soundproofing or something would help. I was so frustrated after laying there for hours!

It was a lovely stay. Everything was perfect. The hotel is beautiful and very comfortable, and the staff is excellent. The shuttle service to and from the music venue where we saw a concert was very convenient. Drinks at the hotel bar after were a great way to end the night, and the bartender was friendly attentive. We had coffee and the breakfast buffet in the morning. Breakfast was pricey but delicious and convenient. Front desk staff and the valets were helpful and professional. Jairo and Moe did a great job!

I arrived at the hotel 15 minutes prior to check in time, and was told our room wasn't ready yet. No biggie as we were early, the front desk attendant said it would be about 15 minutes and that she had called housekeeping to expedite getting the room ready. I checked in with the front desk again around 3:20 and was told the room was still not available and it would be approximately another 15 minutes. I did become a little irritated at this point because myself and children were sitting in the lobby with our bags and were on a timeline to be some place that evening. I went back up to the front desk and asked if there was a place we could check our bags while we waited so that we could leave and get something to eat while we were waiting, the lady took our bags and said if the room was ready before we got back she would have them sent to our room (which she did and I appreciated). Our room was ready at about 4pm.
When we got into the room it appeared clean, until I went into the bathroom and noticed hair in the shower around the drain. I wiped it clean as we were in a hurry and I didn't have time to call housekeeping. After looking around the room I noticed that one of the shades was missing from one of the windows and and dresser was in bad shape and pretty dirty on the front. The room was nice other than that and had comfortable beds.
The hotel was nice, but I thought when I booked that there was a restaurant on site (may have been closed) and room service, but it appeared that wasn't the case. When we left the next day I saw breakfast out in the dining area off the lobby, but we weren't told anything about breakfast when we checked in and since I had already contacted valet to get our vehicle we just left to get breakfast somewhere else.
Pros: 2 of the ladies I interacted with at the front desk were very personable and nice. Valet was great, friendly and prompt when we arrived and left. Getting to the valet area was also easy, and I liked that it was a covered area as well. A housekeeper did come to our room without being called to bring extra towels, which was appreciated. Beds were comfortable.
Cons: Was the late check in. The hotel is nice but after closer look the room was not in great shape. No room service. The bathroom was large but hair was in the tub and there is a lot of wear and tear.
I wasn't particularly off put by the condition of the room because I was travelling with my children. However, had I booked this room for a girls trip or trip with my s/o I would have been disappointed in its condition. This hotel has the potential to be great, it is a beautiful building with lots of really neat details.

I was very pleased with the Hotel ICON after a recent multi-night business trip. The room was spacious for a historical building, and the bathroom was great. I was in a handicap-accessible room with a large tub and a stall shower. The room on the 7th floor was very quiet and the bed was comfortable. I slept like a rock! Valet parking was a bit pricey, $45 per day to come and go as I pleased. But the valets were really quick and very pleasant. The location on the edge of downtown is convenient for getting on the freeway to get anywhere in Houston easily. Hotel ICON wasn't cheap but it wasn't that expensive either for the quality of the experience. I would gladly stay there again.

No pool, but you might be able to use the other Marriott property pool - maybe ask them. The stadium though is about a 5 min walk away, so don't sweat not having shuttle service.
Not sure about swimming pool.. But there are restaurants, museums, and minute maid park nearby.. That's all I know of.. And the hotel spa just reopened..
