We stayed in the 1 King Bed 1 Bedroom Suite, which was pretty interesting. It has a living area with a couch and desk with a TV. Also the room has two bathrooms, One in the living area and one in the bed room area. The rooms are not separated by walls or a door. It is pretty much open concept with very little separation between the rooms. They do not have parking but there is a Valet who will park your car for a per night charge. We didn't get to eat the food as the restaurant and room-service was unavailable because of Covid-19. But the front desk does have a convenience store to buy snacks and drinks. The room and bed were comfortable, but the only complaint I had was right across the street a lot of homeless people were hanging around and sleeping on the side walks. Other then that, it is a pretty nice hotel to stay at for a couple of nights.

Hotel's Favorite
Stayed two nights and was really impressed by the Sam Houston. Found my room to be very comfortable, including the pillows (and hotel pillows are usually the worst). Nicely updated bathrooms, good technology. Staff at all levels were excellent and friendly. Valet was quite responsive (very efficient mobile interface to request your car). My only word of warning. On my last night (Friday night), there was a party happening somewhere at the hotel, but on the 10th floor, the music was very loud and the bass caused my room to actually vibrate slightly. It did conclude by 11pm, but I was surprised it was so loud and with a 7am flight the next morning, I would have hoped to get some extra sleep. I can look past that, however, as everything else was very positive.

We have stayed here many times and love to come back. We decided to stay for loyalty, points and the great breakfast that comes with Diamond status. When we arrived, we were informed that they no longer give Diamond Status privileges! Do yourself a favor and stay at the Lancaster! It is super!

I want to say first that every Hotel during the COVID epidemic has changed. Service is at a minimum. However, the location and services of this hotel was very disappointing. Restaurant was closed due to COVID so I walked to a restaurant two blocks down the street. Soon as I walked out of hotel, i was being asked for money from the homeless. within the two blocks I saw one homeless person urinating in the street and another squatting on the sidewalk. I've stayed at multiple hotels in downtown Houston over the last couple of months and have safely parked on the street. The Curio told me not to park on the street or my vehicle would be vandalized. So, I paid the $40 for valet for them to park in there unsecured parking lot. There was no hot water in the hotel the next morning. When I checked out, all they said was you should have let it run longer. I guess 15 minutes isn't long enough. Without a restaurant inside, the homeless population surrounding the hotel and overpriced parking the hotel is not worth your money.

From the moment you walk in the lobby you know you’re in trouble. The very large brown pleather couch is so old it flakes off on your clothes. You will be unable to regulate the shower water temperature, so plan on freezing water mixed occasionally with boiling water. The hotel rooms smell like they are part of the 200 year history of the hotel. The digital key will never work for your room, so save yourself a trip back down to the desk and just get the traditional key cards. Avoid this place if at all possible!
