Detailed Reviews
I had a very pleasant experience at the Wander Stay hostel. Checking in was super simple and easy , I just sent my ID and was sent access codes. I was one of the few guests with a car and I just paid for the gated parking and had no issues. The room and facility was very well taken care of and clean and the beds were huge and so comfortable! For this price you absolutely can not beat staying here. I also loved how hand sanitizer was everywhere and there was enough space outside of the rooms to not be on top of other guests. Will stay again.

Stayed here over the weekend and can't say enough great things. The check in was remote and super easy, the beds very full sized and comfortable and came with a pillow, blanket, towel, and wash rag. The entire hostel was clean and the best thing was the kitchen they had that allowed me to cook while staying there. This place is definitely worth is and I will recommend this to any of my friends visiting Houston. Thanks guys.

This was my second stay at this hostel. I didn't think twice about going back when I had to return to Houston. I stayed in the female dorm and a single room. I can't say enough about this hostel. It is clean, the staff are friendly and helpful, and it has everything you need. The bunks beds are comfortable and spacious. If you drive, there is safe parking for an extra fee, if you don't, the bus that takes you downtown is not far away. It is a 17 minute drive to Hobby Airport, so the Uber won't be too much, but it is also possible by bus. There is plenty to do in Houston. It is the best value to be in the city center.

I stayed 3 nights in the sports room & I made these suggestions to an inspector: The bunk beds are kind of flimsy, so there's lots of movement for either bunkmate when one moves around or climbs, there is 1" or less steps to the top bunk so it hurt my feet to climb so I had to use crocs when climbing. Part of the ceiling fan blades were above my head above the top bunk ladder area so I had to turn it off to go up or get down. That's a safety hazard for the blade to hit a person's head if it's on, no curtain was over the bathroom window or blinds and only the bottom glass is blurred, so someone can still look in from outside in the clear upper glass since I'm tall. Only one small tv was upstairs! The shower floor was level with whole floor on the outside so water more easily drained out, it needs a curb on the edge to prevent this. A wet floor is a slipping hazard. Better holding toilet seats are needed so they don't become loose to easily at the holding screws in back. One side door to the bathroom wasn't able to fully open without being stopped by an uneven floor, it only opened halfway, they can cut 1/2" off of the bottom & it will open. Myself & 2 other guys didn't know that to rebook it all has to be done online. This should be told to a person if not verbally upon arrival, then in the notice of the rules given to initial. I had a problem paying with 2 cards at 8 am or so, for some unknown reason, but assumed I could book at the property and because I was there 10 minutes after 11 am the morning manager on 2/28/22 said I needed to pay a late removal of my property fee of $10, to which I said they need to make it known 100% about the fact they don't book on the property & said I would move my things, but not pay a late removal fee & was granted such, with an attitude, but still granted it. 2 other people had missed that online info also. But the bed was comfortable, no curfew was good for late arrival, my emailed codes and info was good, except for my missing the book online only info & most staff & guests were pleasant, except the manager the morning one of 2/28/22. She was kind of more rude in mannerism for something that wasn't known I'm sure by 9 out of 10 people who go there. But overall it was a good stay & my things were safe even on the street parking. I have a sister here & will go to her place for now. Unless my card works again & am leaving soon. I hope these suggestions create some changes. Thanks for the room! They still charged my card for the $10 & said they would call back about a refund & haven't yet. So I didn't like that treatment at the end & deserve to get that $10 refunded!

As a cancer patient at MD Anderson, I have to travel to Houston from the Asheville, NC area several times a year, so I was looking for ways to cut my transportation and lodging costs. I discovered that because I'm a senior citizen, I could get a Houston Metro pass that entitles me to unlimited free travel on the Houston Metro system. This saves me about $100 over Lyft or Uber on transportation from and to George Bush International. Then I found out about Wanderstay Hostel Houston. It gave me all I needed for my most recent MD Anderson visit...a scrupulously clean, quiet. air conditioned, private room with a comfortable bed, free wi-fi, and a secure code entry lock on the room door. All this for just $58 a night...about $100 less per night than for a typical local hotel room. Plus, there was a bathroom and a kitchen right outside my door with a microwave, full-sized refrigerator, sink stove, toaster and coffee maker. And it was conveniently located in the Museum District. What a find! I had a very satisfactory stay and saved at least $300 over my 3-night stay compared to what a hotel room would have cost me.

Great big beds for a hostel, good services and nice staff with good local tips.
Not really walking distance to the city center though, but by bike doable.
Fresh towels if asked for, which is pretty nice for a hostel. Only down side is there are now towels or paper towels in the kitchen or shower/restrooms.

We Really enjoyed our stay at this hostel. I loved the easy check in, when I arrived the front desk employee was very helpful and showed me our room. The place was really clean and the beds were full sized with all the linen you’ll need for your stay. Bathrooms are a huge deal for me and this hostel had no issues at all with wait times for showers or toilet.

I needed a place to stay while taking a class at the university of Houston and this place really helped me out. They are about 10 minutes away from the University and they offer everything needed for a good stay- linen, towels, wash rag, and clean bathrooms. I love that they don’t use keys here and everything is keyless and electronic- that is very convienent. I def recommened this hostel

Whenever I stay in a hotel, hostel, motel I never really care about the pricing since i always double check thatone. But while I was staying in the Wanderstay Hotel I recheck my bank statement my email if i paid $1000 but shocked when i checked it was just barely $30 for this perfect place safe, super clean I feel dirty on my own stepping into the property honestly it took my stress away the smell of cleanliness calms me the cute designs and set up. Everything exceeds to my expectation for $30 of overnight stay. I got the blankets and towels I mean I couldnt ask for more!! Thank you so much for doing an amazing job. You are all the best!!!

Wanderstay Houston Hostel is just what the metropolis needed! It’s fantastically located in Houston Museum District which is just perfect for art lovers. You are in walking distance to cool bars and restaurants however, an uber may be ideal to combat Texas heat. WHH is great for collegiate prospect visits to Texas Southern University, The University of Houston, Rice University and other continuing education institutions. The nightly rate is a great value for a comfy, bright and clean down home feel. Book your stay and snag the Beyoncé themed female dorm room. Houston Texas baybee!

It's on their website.
While I don’t own the Hostel ll have lived in both Dallas & Houston and the zoning regulations in Dallas are very strict while Houston has minimal zoning regulations. Example: Dallas requires townships to vote on Liquor laws. In Houston a bar opened on a piece of property a few blocks from my home within a subdivision and overall housing is inconsistent (a shack can have a $500,000 home built next door.)
I hope this general overview is helpful.
