I would recommend this hotel to anyone. The service is incredible! Everyone was friendly and went above and beyond. The rooms are clean and well maintained. Room service was fast and efficient. We used the hotel car as well and our driver was friendly and professional.

I am closing in on over 800 nights staying at Marriott properties alone of one brand or another and have stayed in more than my share of "luxury" properties from brands like Marriott, Hilton, and others. This property is in my top 5 after staying her on a couple occasions now while visiting my son in Houston. The people make the property. If you are looking for a place to go and be pampered and looked after like you are family, you are going to enjoy your stay here. Other properties are more updated or fancy. NO other property that I have stayed at in a long time have as good of people. The rooms are very large and very comfortable and the suites I stayed in came equipped with an Illy espresso maker which produced a quality of coffee so good that I bought one for my own home after my second stay. Their breakfast in the restaurant is excellent as well. Complaints? Absolutely none. Yes, this is a real review and not a paid or made up one. This hotel truly is just that good.

I booked this hotel thinking it would be a good destination during my stay in Houston, TX. I was wrong. There were several roaches in the hotel. (View the attached photos for PROOF). The hotel manager Mazi was horrible. He was extremely unprofessional. I won't be wasting any more money, nor time here again.

I love this hotel. It is my favorite hotel, period. I have stayed here months at a time over the years -- that's in great part due to how extraordinary the employees are. They make you feel welcome and valued, they take care of anything, the hotel is beautiful and clean and you feel safe, and the staff is not afraid to show personality. They aren't robots, but they are incredible at what they do.. On the downside, I think Marriott has done it's best to neglect this hotel and make incredibly awful decisions. They seem bent on incrementally degrading the quality of this hotel -- i don't know if Marriott sees every hotel the same way; or doesn't understand how you have to invest in luxury in order to provide it; or doesn't understand that random budget cuts have an effect and drive people away. You will lose customers when a luxury hotel doesn't have a concierge -- not to mention a highly skilled one. Your bedroom furnishings are a few decades old. The bathrooms haven't been updated since the hotel was built. My lamps don't work. The ridiculous Costco work chair looks out of place. If you are charging $600 a night in high season, treat your customer like it's worth it. St. Regis as a brand speaks for luxury. Across the world, you've achieved that. You have a really valuable property here -- at least pretend to value it. (And the JW Marriott is no where near this hotel on it's worst day). And gee whiz, Marriott. You need to change your Pepsi partnership. No one likes pepsi. People like Coke, and Diet Coke, and Sprite.

We checked in Sunday at 1pm. Friendly front desk group. Zero upgrade for Ambassador status as “hotel was fully booked”, and that was probably true as a work retreat/meeting was going on, plus other business groups. Actually besides my husband and I, my guess is it was 100% business travelers. Actually an excellent business hotel. Staff was extremely friendly throughout the stay. House car was always less than 10 minutes away to take us to/from dinner, convenient amenity, black Escalades. The SPA and fitness area was small but had everything you’d need for a full workout or massage/facial. The room was outdated but large with plenty of storage, drawers, large safe, big desk, chaise lounger, decor from the 80’s-90’s but was high quality, yes in need of update but that didn’t bother us. The bathroom on the other hand was terrible… smelt like mold, unsafe tub/shower. We are from Florida so we understand the need to thoroughly clean with bleach or vinegar and this is needed in the bathrooms. Housekeeping was below average. I did bring this up to the front desk and they corrected the issue immediately. Also, the tub/shower has a HIGH step to get in/out and the old tub was slanted inwards so it felt unsteady and frankly I’m 53 years old and w/ good mobility…I can’t imagine someone over 60 or someone with any hip or knee replacement, trying to get in/out. We ate breakfast daily at the hotel, drinks every evening, and 3 dinners at the bar/restaurant. All our meals were excellent. The wine, Old Fashions and martinis were excellent. Harry the bartender and Ron the server were outstanding employees who have been at the hotel for 27 and 31 years. We tried the Benedict, pancakes, burrito, omelette etc all excellent for breakfast. Dinner we tried the ribeye, burger, lobster bisque, salad, and the club again all excellent. No shops except a Diamond store, I would have liked to do some shopping. The lobby has a wonderful scent. You can purchase the room spray on St Regis website which we did. The tearoom was lovely and comfortable with various seating areas BUT we only hung out there or had a glass of wine as the tea service is only Friday, Saturday, Sunday, which stinks because we love high tea at our Naples Ritz, and definitely would have done the tea possibly multiple times. We like the boutique smaller style of the hotel. It felt very personal. Employees greeted us by name. The pool is heated and a lovely area. It’s not “resort” like, it’s boutique like and perfect say if my husband was there for work, I’d hang at the pool, type pool. We also liked the 5-6 days we saw zero kids! That alone would make us return. Every guest was well heeled, dressed well, polite, yet had fun and were friendly. The hotel did a good job keeping the work conference/meeting separate from other business people. We would recommend/return but would request a room with a walk-in shower. If you like an old money feel hotel, you will love the St Regis. If you like chic, new and a younger vibe… this isn’t the hotel. PS if you need to go to MD Anderson this is a lovely retreat only 6 miles away.

This place has an absolutely terrible staff. I’m an ambassador at Marriott, but they treated me like a piece of « use your imagination ». All I wanted to know is what kind of upgrade I can get at the check in and the lady on the phone Lilian or something like that was extremely rude and hung on me couple of times and finally stoped picking up the phone. This is ridiculous. This place is supposed to be the best Marriott property in Houston but in fact the staff turned this place into a joke..

We’ve stayed at this property several times. Before the negative, I want to commend the workers in the bar, the bellmen and the restaurant. Many of them have been there for years, and work very hard. The issues start with the owner and management. 1. As many have pointed out, the property is in serious need of updating. They have done some touch up of common areas, but the rooms are worn, and teh bathrooms antiquated. 2. Lots of service issues: —at check in, our room was not ready. The front desk worker said it was in “final cleaning phase.” An hour later, I went back, and the worker said it was ready but he hadn’t been able to contact us because he was busy. As I pointed out to the front desk manager, either it hadn’t been in final stages or we’d been sitting while it was ready. He called me later and acknowledged the issues and said the worker was in training. — the next morning we called for our coffee service (we had a suite, so butler service was included). Almost 30 minutes later, it arrived. Look — this is going to sound snobby, but instead of the usual butler with French press coffee, it was standard room service — which they charged me for (they took it off the bill after I complained). I didn’t even bother the second day. —. Next day went went down to the bar for a drink. No bartender. After waiting 10 minutes, we left. When I asked teh front desk manager, he said “he must have gone to get something.” Again — I do not blame the bartender, who is a really hard worker. The hotel needs more than one worker in the bar. — they then called us not once, nit twice, but three times, including on a cell phone, to tell us they we sending up an amenity (a cheese tray — nice, but do not call me 3 times in an hour). — The portico entrance is small. They are parking several cars right at the entrance (making it incredibly tight), and even right in front. When we went to dinner, they had a car parked, literally, right in front of the door. So we got to walk out in the rain to get in the Uber. There was not a single worker in sight. — the next morning, checkout time was noon. We had our Do Not Disturb sign out. Even with that, housekeeping knocked, then called our CELL NUMBER. Ambassador level members. We will stay at the Post Oak next trip.

This used to be one of the premier properties in Houston, but it’s in desperate need of a refresh. The rooms look tired and a bit rundown. Both phones in our room were broken, as was the scale. The TV worked, but not well. Service was mixed. They have a handful of fantastic people who have been there forever - Robert, Richard, David - but they’re offset by others who are less than competent. A poorly trained receptionist took a half hour to check us in. I requested twice to have silverware sent to the room. It never arrived. The housekeepers forget to refill the empty facial tissues. A supposed luxury hotel should not have those kinds of service lapses.

We had high expectations of our afternoon tea at the St Regis and found it to be grossly lacking. Afternoon tea is a much loved tradition for our family and we've done several of these at the Victoria Fairmont, San Francisco Palace Hotel, SF Mandarin Oriental, etc. in comparison the St. Regis was a distant last. While the tea itself is excellent - Bedford, Sri Lanka and House Blend, the food leaves much to be desired. The smoked salmon sandwich was combined with some egg salad-ish paste - the combo of two strong flavors with rye was unpleasant. The cucumber sandwich looked beautiful but was flat - some salt and pepper would have been nice. The other sandwiches were good. The scone was simply atrocious. It was a spongy, biscuit like concoction that missed the essence of a scone. Worse still it came with a wierd whipped cream (not clotted cream) and small jars of Bonne Mamma jam which felt tacky for such an expensive tea. To top it all there was no lemon curd! To add insult to injury my scone had a plastic fiber in it. At that point I simply lost my appetite. They brought out a tiered caddy with our pastries but had left the top of a champagne wire on one of the lowest plates. Other than that the service was attentive and on point. The St Regis tea is very expensive but seems like a lazy effort with sub par food that cannot hold its own to other leading establishments that pride themselves on attention to detail and delivering quality
