This hotel is conveniently located near the convention center and if booked far enough out 1/3 the price of those hotels connected. You can even cut through the Marriott Marquis and get to the convention center if bad weather comes to town (and to avoid panhandlers). Short walk to Minute Maid Park and not a far walk to the Toyota Center. Clean room and very quite. Stayed on 5th floor and was able to get to the room efficiently with little to no wait for the elevators. Breakfast is ok. Stick with the fruit, smoothies (very good), and waffles. It was nice to see helpful smiling faces on employees in the morning when trying to decide what to eat.
The staff was extremely helpful and friendly, the rooms were clean, and the breakfast was very good. Small details like having plenty of hot water, great water pressure, and an A/C that keeps up made the stay much nicer than other hotels.
Early check-in would be nice since the Astros Baseball games can start as early as 1:00 PM. Breakfast is good. Walking distance to Minute Maid Park home of the Houston Astros Baseball Club. We love the location and value.
The Event Coordinator, Ms. Yesenia is "drop the mic!" fantastic!!! For having my wedding reception at the Hampton Inn, she took so much stress off of me, for this first time bride at age 55. We met a few times, we discussed, we emailed, we spoke on the phone, anything to help me make the decision process easier. She was full of helpful suggestions and ideas. She was so flexible as my guests numbers went up. She helped me relax and concentrate on being a bride. . . And, my parents coming to town! Best of all, the Hampton Inn comped our honeymoon suite for that Saturday night!! I believe with Ms. Yesenia in charge as Event Coordinator, with her assistant, Ms. Amanda, the Hampton Inn can handle any size event. Mine was just shy of 200.
I was not impressed with the parking. I was staying here for 5 nights and could either pick from the $20/night, park at your own risk lot across the street or the $29/day+ valet. I understand that this area would be more expensive but there was nothing going on in any of the 3 major venues the week I was staying here. The bed are firm and uncomfortable. I would like to see them start using memory foam with varying densities in different rooms. A good night sleep is more important to me than any other amenity and I have not found a hotel I've been able to sleep comfortably in, this hotel was no different.
