My wife and I made an unscheduled (due to postponement in work) trip to visit her son in Henderson, Texas. I had looked several months before on one of the popular hotel/motel reservation sites when we had considered making the 7 1/2 hour trip up from Corpus Christi, Texas but were unable to go due to work schedule. I'd found the Woodlawn Hills Motel and thought it looked pretty good. Tagged and saved it but didn't book/reserve @ that time. We called prior to our drive up, reserved a room and let the manager, Genie, know we'd be in very late (early!) about 3:30 a.m. that night. Got into town as planned and met Genie, paid for the room, and headed inside for sleep...next [afternoon!] day we got up and I took the dogs out for a walk and to do their business, What a Pleasant Surprise!! The motel is two tiers of pairs of ten room buildings nestled in the hills and pine trees as if the land was created FOR it, Absolutely Beautiful! The pictures on the reservations site really cannot do it justice. You have to experience the place firsthand...the freshly milled treated pine timbers that create the porches' overhang, the way the motel and surrounding grassy areas cradle one another, it's really something to behold. Rooms were clean and neat and we (and the dogs!) loved the King bed and down pillows, slept like babies! The bathroom sink hot water takes a bit to get warm but the water is outstanding, fresh and tasty like good mineral/well water from the Kansas/Nebraska heartland of America....and when we went to visit our son, it was only a mile and a half away! Couldn't have asked for a better out-of-town experience. If you're headed to/thru Henderson, Texas toward Tyler, Shreveport, or any other nearby destination (the Hwy. 79/ Hwy. 64/ and third road [5 -way crossing] is RIGHT outside of the parking lot @ Woodlawn Hills {absolutely NO road noise due to the elevations changes on-property}, my wife and I HIGHLY recommend y'all stop and stay a while...(it's pet friendly to boot!!…

We were heading home from Round Top antique shows and just need a place to lay our head. We checked out the room before paying. This is an older motel and could use some serious TLC. I ALWAYS check the room before bringing in or setting down my luggage — particularly for any type of bugs, hairs or stains. I didn’t find anything of the sort. There was a little water on the bathroom floor but the lady on duty said she had recently cleaned the bathroom and probably sprayed some out of the shower. After taking a shower, I have no doubt that that high pressure sprayed it out. The bathroom door had several coats of old paint so it wouldn’t close all the way. Big TV and bed. Convenient and free parking directly outside our room. Continental breakfast provided. Decent, but nothing to write home about. …

The smell of the room was of old wood and tobacco smoke though I requested a non-smoking room. The tub had broken tile and the water came out a minty green. There was electrical outlets I didnt feel it was safe to plug anything in. There was live roaches in one of the bedrooms and I personally had to leave the room to buy cleaning supplies. The bed had questionable stains as well. The room I had to stay in was in the upper part where there was hardly any lights so therefore it was a danger risk at night. Spiders hung from both the inside and outside. It wasn't worth the $68 dollars I had to pay.

The staff was absolutely courteous, friendly, and so very helpful. We reserved a non-smoking room, but it smelled like it was smoking. The shower's water pressure was way too high, and hurt certain areas. A HUGE roach ran across the nightstand...

We stayed one night, it was late and my husband decided we would stay to save some money. They tried to "remodel" but it fell short. The room along with the closet had been painted. Someone didn't bother to take out the luggage rack so it was all spotted with paint. Dead roach in the corner, some kind of black stuff on the wall by the sink, bed slats that stuck out on the side of the bed. It will take a while for my bruise to heal. I gave it a "2" due to these items: David at the front desk was very helpful and very professional. Good TV and fridge. I slept well so it was a good mattress.

Based on the single tripadvisor review and the lowest online rates for Henderson hotels, I recently booked and stayed for two nights at Woodlawn Hills. This is an older motor court that recently was renovated: new paint, carpet, furnishings, and bedding. I paid the lowest online rate of $65/night for a regular king room; however, the motel's marquee's advertised a daily rate of $49. (This is my second time this summer that I paid more by booking online.) The room was simple but comfortable and quiet and had a fridge and microwave. The check-in staff was very welcoming and helpful. The location is convenient with plenty of free parking. Negatives: The room had a slightly musty smell; the desk lamp had no receptacle to plug into; and, the sheets were clean but still had some residual makeup stains on them.…

I traveled to Henderson on business recently, this was my first time to the area I searched and found woodlawnhillsmotel.com based on the pictures I took a chance an booked. I must say for an older property the owners did a great job remodeling. Very nice room with new comfortable bed. I especially liked how close it was to the restaurants and the large grounds to walk around. Highly recommended if you find yourself in Henderson, Tx
