Pleasantly surprised. A jewel in the middle of nowhere. Our hosts, Alex and Cyndi, were gracious and very hospitable. Our hosts were not intrusive. I felt as if I was staying at a family members home. Had full use of the kitchen. The bed and pillows were very comfortable. Plenty of hot water. Washer and dryer available for use. Great... More

Vara Guest House is a jewel. I was welcomed by Alex who was very hospitable. He showed me around the house and all the amenities. It was wonderful to relax in their nicely decorated rooms and especially the great bathtub. Oh and the bathrobes, yes please! Hope to be back soon and stay longer.

I was on my way home from Santa Fe, NM on my motorcycle and had a flat tire in Garden City (a small town near Midland, Tx). With not knowing the area I was in a real bind. I stumbled upon this little bed and breakfast and called them up. The owner (Alex) was understanding of my situation and offered... More

I stayed with Alex and Cyndi for 6 weeks, it was wonderful. They didn't just welcome me in as a customer, they went well out of their way to make me feel like family. Their home was warm, inviting, clean and very comfortable. Hot tub was hot, wifi is fast, beds are comfy, and their dogs are super friendly. If... More

Vara Guest House is a very warm and welcoming lodging experience. Though I only stayed a couple days, I could easily stay in the hot tub a year. If you find yourself in garden city area, there isn't anywhere comparable. The atmosphere is homey ,yet classic. There is complimentary drinks, tea, snacks, etc. The owners of the house are genuine individuals who... More

This was such an amazing experience staying here at the Vara Bed & Breakfast. This place is absolutely fantastic. I felt so welcomed and at home during my entire stay. They've really got the running of this place down perfectly! It's like staying in a little piece of home. The room was cleverly revamped with a clawfoot tub/shower in the corner and a toilet and sink in a real 'water-closet', converted from a clothes closet. The bed and pillows are heaven! Best thing.. the little "white noise" maker on the... More

Sunday brunch was home cooked and delicious. The accommodations were wonderful and I loved the pool table. We plan on returning, truely a gem! Garden City does not have a hotel so if you are traveling through town, this is most definitely a place to check out. Driving to other regional places is easy and convenient.

The Varas obviously want to make their guests feel welcome, and they do! From the moment we arrived they went our of their way to welcome us, and gave superb recommendations about where to go and what to see. And the bed was SO comfortable! Garden city is a little off the beaten track, but it was well worth the... More

“I stayed in one of the smaller cabins in June. The cabin was quiet, it was tastefully decorated, it was clean, comfortable and the bed was great. :) If you're in the oil and gas business and need an extended stay, this would be an excellent choice if the drive was within reason. I found Vara Guest House to be a true gem in the West, Texas landscape.”
