Had the best Swedish massage I have ever had! Great end to a wonderful mother/daughter weekend! Highly recommend Karen Franks for your next massage therapy session! 10 out of 10! We will be back next year!
This hotel is Galveston’s Best Kept Secret. Upon checking in and experiencing the property first hand it was literally mind blowing. I’ve always been a Walt Disney world fanatic and I’m not kidding when I say this hotel hands down blows any and all Disney on property hotels out the water. On two separate occasions we were stuck having to order room service because my spouse was too exhausted to leave the room. And even then the food was better than some 5 star restaurants we’ve eaten at. With three pyramids containing tropical rain forests, aquariums, 3Dmovie theater, 4D movie theater, an interactive movie theater, massive water park, zip line……. The list just keeps going on. This place has everything to the point where you have NO need to even leave the resort. Unbelievable!!!!!! 👍👍👍👍👍…
We've been to Galveston before, but this was our first time at the Moody Gardens Hotel. We liked everything about the hotel itself: the location is convenient for exploring greater Galveston, the room was very comfortable and usable, and most of all, the staff was super-helpful and pleasant. We also enjoyed the restaurants. We had breakfast at the first floor cafe at least twice (weekdays: a la carte, weekends: buffet), and tried the 9th floor restaurant once (we used the lounge, not the formal restaurant). We enjoyed both and the 9th floor is not to be missed! We also appreciated the coffee stand in the lobby. We were out and about in Galveston, and so didn't get to use the pool, but the pool area looked very fun. Why only 4 stars? We paid extra for the Moody Gardens attraction tickets as part of the room reservation, but it wasn't a good deal at all. We had to pay ahead at inflated prices (as far as I can tell), and then ended up not using a day. Don't buy tickets ahead of time! Just buy them on the day.…
This is a tough one to review. The rooms are very large and roomy-the view was lovely and the staff were polite. The pros: large, clean rooms. Great views. Great location, lots to do. I had the best salad! Cons: aging a bit; restaurant service was ok; the music exhibition was underwhelming. So this is why it’s tough: the room covers the location, really. The shower head was a bit scary looking and there was a smell of pot one afternoon. We visited the restaurant twice-the first I ordered the lobster bisque, but it didn’t arrive-my salad, which was amazing, came with prawns (which I didn’t order) but was wonderfully done. The second time, we waited a bit-probably should’ve just done buffet, but we wanted something simple. Bacon never came. Hubby went to get ice cream later in the day but a lady was returning hers due to larvae or something-so he came back empty handed. The Dino and music exhibitions could use some TLC. We do love the idea of it-beautiful venue with access to lots of family activities. We would love to return with the wee ones when the water park is open….just not sure if we would stay onsite-or somewhere nearby. I guess it would depend on if there were any rate deals on….definitely not, if it’s going to continue to be $300/nt just for the room. Pic is of the shower head. …
Our entire experience was amazing. From the swimming pool, to the restaurant, to the Bar on the 9th floor overlooking the bay. We felt like Royalty the entire time. The food served at the bar on the 9th floor was very good. Our bartender was the most professional and polite person we have ever had serve us. His name was Micah Wise. He provided the perfect ending to our stay as we enjoyed the sunset over the bay. I feel like he should be given high praise by all of the people he works for and with. We will definitely be coming back. He is a big part of the reason.
Michelle checked us in and pretty much made absolutely certain everything was perfect. She is incredible and made this the most amazing vacation experience either one of us have ever had. Michelle is a great asset to the hotel and our stay was made magical by her.
We stayed at Moody Gardens for the first time in April of 2022! It was the absolute best experience! The customer service was phenomenal! Michele was great and spoke every time she saw us in the lobby! The pool and swim up bar were great too! We had a great time and will be back for another trip soon!
I’m staying here for two nights for business. I experienced fantastic customer service from Michele and Eric, both of them helped tackle my reservation issue and got me checked in smoothly. They made my week. Michele demonstrated fantastic customer service.
Meagan was our wedding coordinator absolutely amazing and so easy to work with. Michelle at the front desk made checking such a Breeze , also smiling faces Greeted us . The whole staff at Moody Gardens helped us tremendously. Rooms were spotless very cozy. I could go on and on, but you’ll just have to book your stay to see how amazing Moody Gardens really is !
We are not package resort people. We came here for a family event. We were surprised and delighted! The resort looks like an older property (built 1980s, but updated at least a few times since then) and it has clearly experience pretty heavy use. That said, everything was sparkling clean. The lobby/atrium is beautifully decorated. The staff were exceptionally friendly (it is Texas!) We had a 6th floor room overlooking the pool and pyramids - a stunning view. Our king-sized bed was comfy. Our Keurig had seen better days (not unusual in a hotel room, I've found), but we got it to work. The internet was open access but very fast. We were a bit concerned about noise - there were 3 proms happening on the Saturday night of our stay - but although we could hear through the walls early in the evening, noise did not disturb us while we were sleeping. Be aware that this hotel is not on the beach - it's a 5-10 minute drive away - but the property does abut the West Bay. The grounds were quasi-deserted (off season?) but well-groomed and lovely for walks. The pool was deliciously warm, and good for morning swims. In the evenings it tended to fill to the brim with boisterous families (which is great if that is your thing). There is a swim-up bar, and you can just charge drinks to your room :) We had a breakfast buffet in the Cafe that was great value for $25. Perhaps best of all, after a long and sunburnt day on the beach (not connected to the hotel), we had reservations at Shearn's, the restaurant on the top floor. This was a wonderful experience - great food, great service, gorgeous views. We did not do any of the pyramids, the spa, or the golf course....but what a great place to take kids! And, it might be because our family had negotiated an even deal, but our stay was an exceptional value - we paid less than one routinely pays for tiny cramped rooms in chain hotels in big cities. Long story short, even though we aren't package resort people, we are contemplating visiting again!…
