My husband and I chose the Galvez as part of a quick getaway to enjoy Museum weekend in Galveston. I have always admired this grand hotel but never had the opportunity to stay. This hotel is absolutely beautiful! From the drive in, you are emersed in beauty. I can only imagine driving up the drive a hundred years ago. We were pleasantly surprised with an upgrade to the presidential suite. My mouth dropped upon entering our suite. Every amenity included. Great comfy king bed. Not only one huge bathroom, but two! I don’t know why we were upgraded but I truly thank the management at the Galvez! We also enjoyed a delicious breakfast. I cannot commend this hotel enough! Highly recommended!!!

Stayed on our trip in for a Cruise. The staff was so welcoming and accommodating. Had an ocean view room highly recommend it. Grounds were well maintenance and groomed. Used Valet service to leave our car during cruise and it was so convenient for a very reasonable price which included shuttle to and from the port.

I was looking forward to visiting Galveston for the first time and to stay at the infamous Hotel Galvez. Beautiful grounds and excellent customer service! I just was not impressed with the rooms or at least the room I had, For the price you pay you think they would keep it up better. Shower curtian had mildew and faucets & shower head had water scale/rust bad. Sink did not drain properly either. All in all room did not feel as luxurious as I expected it to be. Great view of the ocean! I will say that the spa was very nice and had a great massage and facial. Felt very pampered! Hotel bar was alright. Did not have an exclusive feel being smack dab in the lobby with all the check in & out commotion. Was very loud. Fountain soda so does not make for good mixed drinks either. Pub grub, just okay. Customer service however good! Most the of the bar and restaurant staff are "exchange" students working an internship at the Galvez. They were all very nice and friendly. All in all, our stay was average.

Staffs are extremely friendly and very helpful for us as we are first time in Galveston area. There’s trolley bus that travel along the strip of island and to main downtown for a minimal fee. Worth to ride for a sightseeing in this area to get an idea before getting off the trolley bus.

I stayed here prior to our cruise. The pictures present a very grand hotel, the kind that looks like you might want to spend your anniversary here. In actuality, its a bit run down. Almost all of the carpeting is tattered, lots of wood dings, and overall just a bit wethered (understandable for the location). If I was to rate just the hotel, I'd say its a solid 3/5. Where it gains some points is a great price and fantastic service. Every interaction with hotel staff was enjoyable. There shuttle service to the port makes them a great option in itself. If we ever embark from Galveston again, the Galvez will be on our shortlist to stay at.
