We've stayed here numerous time and are never disappointed! We traveled down with our family of 18 adults, 2 teens, and 5 kids under 7 years of age.
The staff is very hospitable and the other guests are always pretty laid back/family friendly!

$1-2 per bag should be good if you have the guys bring your luggage to your room. Some recommend $5 total, but the per bag rule is probably good. $5 might be too much for a small overnight bag and too little for a family with lots of luggage. $2-5 is good for valet. Most of them are young guys. I know some recommend tipping your maid service...sometimes, I think where does it end? I will say, I'd probably be more tempted to tip the maid service well though because I generally see not-so-young women working these jobs that probably are not paid very well hourly. They didn't provide an envelope for maid tipping, so you could perhaps bring your own if you want to make sure they know it's for them or just leave it at the end of your stay on the nightstand. They are paid hourly, as all of these workers are with the exception of the bar/wait staff, but you can certainly tip $2 a night if it makes you sleep better. You can park yourself for free if you want to save money and bring up your own bags. I didn't use my car much at all while in Galveston, so self-parking was totally fine. I felt it was much less of a hassle. In general, it's probably fine to go with the low end of those estimates, as I'm almost positive these people are paid hourly. It's not like they are only working off tips. A phone call to the front desk should either deny or confirm that.
