The hotel is beautiful and full of history. However, there are few amenities given with your room. I would have expected more for the type of hotel it is advertised as. It is a great place to stay for its history. I know it is still being renovated so maybe more will be added later. Staff was helpful when we had some issues with our room.

My wife and I stayed at the Grand Galvez during a business trip. The hotel is very nice and well kept, but our customer service experience was very poor. Between the two of us we attempted to call the front desk five times, and none of our calls were answered. And the third day I stopped at the desk in person and requested new towels. That never happened. I had to go to the front desk and request them in person. The staff apologized and assured me they would be up immediately. Well, 20 minutes later, as I was going back to the desk, a person brought me a new set of towels. Our room was $265/night, parking was another $25/day, I had a higher expectation than what we experienced.

Hotel was beautiful, valet in front desk were extremely helpful and attentive. It is the service of one person at the Monarch restaurant that ruined the night. She was extremely rude, did not even apologize nor offer another dish when we did not like what we had ordered, ignored us when we called her over and even one of her coworkers said that she is one of the worst employees they had ever seen. I guess it’s really hard to get good help but if this is the kind of help they have, it’s better to be shortstaffed.

What a great stay we had. The guys at the bar were fun and interactive, Louis and Jessie make our time there a total joy. Rooms are really beautiful and the location is perfect. The only issue we had was the pool was closed with weather, shame but couldnt be helped. But the bar staff made uo for it.

The renovations are absolutely incredible! I have been using this hotel for years and I was blown away. The staff was incredibly helpful and kind, especially the GM Darryl. I can't wait to come back and stay again. 10 out of 5 stars :)

I had a wonderful short stay at this hotel. The service was above and beyond excellent. There was a little remodelling of parts of the building which was hardly noticeable but the hotel was so beautifully decorated in a 1930’s feel with a modern touch. Rooms were spacious, comfortable and spotlessly clean. Food was incredible but above all that the staff were friendly and on call. Big shout out to Ryan the Valet and Sophie our waitress at brunch. So very very helpful. Thank you to them and all who made my stay a very pleasurable one. Hope I can visit USA again one day.

Amazing hotel right along the beach! This property is gorgeous and the staff are so friendly and wonderful. This hotel makes me feel like i understand what "southern hospitality" is all about. The hotel lobby is inviting and the rooms were very clean. Also, the pool is the perfect place to lounge. I'd highly recommend!

From the moment we walked through the door we were super impressed! The beautiful mosaics on the floor greet you as you enter the newly renovated lobby. Seamless check-in process and our room was beautiful …but the views from our room were the real showstopper!! After exploring Galveston we enjoyed cocktails at the hotel bar with beautiful red chandeliers. Lois (our bartender) took excellent care of us and makes THE BEST espresso martinis EVER! Sure wish I had one now! ;-) The next morning I had an appointment at the spa for a facial, really enjoyed being pampered there too. My skin felt so amazing! Oh, and ladies there’s a super cute gift shop in the lobby with swimsuits, coverups and toiletries. The pool area was beautiful, but unfortunately didn’t have time enjoy, but will for sure next time. Already planning our return to the Grand Galvez. We love this place!!!
