Historical, beautiful, one of the best. All staff friendly and professional. Clean room, grounds and all areas. First time staying at Grand Galvez and can highly recommend. The Sunday brunch is fantastic. The prices for everything is a little high, but worth it.

Stayed at This Grand Galvez hotel, amazingly beautiful. Pool was amazing staff was great. Had a fantastic time. See it is under new ownership and I'm excited to see the updates from the dated decor that exist from the past. My only complaint is work is happening while i was there, but who am i to post blame I could've came another time. Spoke with a manager about work and he explained and showed me the plans of the future and took me on a tour. I was happy to see what is up and coming, very excited.

Sherry seeing that it had been painted pink(ugly), we pulled up to no valet and No parking on premises. We unloaded our luggage ourselves and went off to find the only parking available was on the street. Great.🙄 Once we schlepped our stuff into our room, we noticed there were no longer coffee makers in the room. And only one large towel. Ugh. After we settled in, we went down to the restaurant to grab some dinner. One seated we were informed by the waiter that there was no shrimp in the hotel because they had sold it all earlier in the day at the champagne buffet which was invitation only the public could not partake. You're in freaking Galveston for crying out loud they couldn't find shrimp somewhere?? Instead ordered a salad that arrived to me inedible.the lettuce was slimy and there was a puddle of dressing in the bottom of the bowl that someone could have drowned in. I asked for the hotel manager I was given a 20 something kid named Kevin who basically stood there and smirked at us and did absolutely nothing and didn't even care about our concerns. My husband's fish tacos were okay but the so-called soft tortillas were old and stale. We've been coming here for at least 10 years multiple times a year and we will not be back.

First visit to this hotel Pros- great location, beautiful hotel and gardens. CONS- Service does not exist at this hotel. I can get past that for the money, the rooms and bathrooms are small with no microwave but covid or not, when you are on vacation you want your rooms cleaned. By day two there was sand everywhere in our room and bathroom so imagine dealing with that for the next 4 days. My husband ordered a Guiness and the bartender said she was out but then brought back, what she said were the last two in the whole hotel; it was not drinkable it was so old but she served it anyway. She also got our food order wrong. She was so unfriendly, downright rude to us. the next day we go to the pool thinking that we would have some food and drinks- there is zero service at the pool, there were people with uniforms on who we assumed worked there but no service and the poor kid working behind the bar was so overwhelmed he had no clue what he was doing. this hotel is way understaffed. My husband and I waited one hour for a club sandwich and it was only when I went and asked where it might me that we finally got it and I had to carry back to my seat along with my drinks...no one offered to assist me and they are supposed to deliver it to you! There was a man at the pool talking about how he was the contractor for this hotel and how the new owners were dropping 100 million into it and they changed the name to Grand Galvez. HA THIS IS A LAUGH- GET MORE STAFF WITH THE MONEY AND BE A FULL SERVICE HOTEL!!! NOTHING GRAND ABOUT THIS HOTEL. motel 6 is better I bet they will start putting cleaning products and vacuums in all the rooms so we can clean them ourselves!

I booked a ocean view room as a grievance stay for a friend but because of a system error/bad costumer service I had to pay for the room twice and was given a room with one bed and a view of the parking lot. They have a zero refund policy no matter what. I have always enjoyed the Galvez in the past but that will be the last time I ever stay there and will let others know about my experience as well. The waitstaff had burned holes/dirty uniforms and half the amenities are now closed. The place looks super run down from its previous glory days and it’s really sad to see a place I’ve been to since a child ruined. Don’t waste your money here. The guest experience is not their priority.
