Palo Alto Creek Farm is a true country getaway. We offer all the amenities of a fine hotel with the privacy of your own home. 4 guesthouses have everything you need for a romantic weekend or a fully equipped home for a longer visit. Aside from our day spa and massage services, a favorite activity at the farm is sitting in the swing under the ancient grandfather Oak tree—the same tree the Comanche probably sheltered beneath.

My wife and I have long been visitors to Palo Alto Creek Farm, a restored 1850s farmstead. A recent change in ownership worried us about until we made a return visit earlier this year. Fortunately, the new owners have preserved just about everything that makes this a winning place to stay. The facilities are marvelous, especially the "Log Cabin" which has not one but two fireplaces, one of which in a wonderful bathroom ideal for two people in love. Total privacy is assured no matter which of the three units you stay in. The location, about 5 miles north of Fredericksburg on an idyllic country road, is far enough to avoid the tourist bustle, but close enough to get into town at a moment's notice. The continental breakfast left in the units before you arrive is a mixture of homemade breads, juices, milk, and other assorted breakfast goodies. Deer gather each evening for the nightly feeding, and there is a small amount of livestock kept on the Farm. And you cannot forget the loving farm cats that will greet you and follow you whenever you're outside.Palo Alto Creek Farm is not inexpensive - but it's worth every penny and more. Stay several days and feel the city tension drain away. See ... for more details.

My husband and I visited Palo Alto Creek Farm to celebrate our anniversary. We stayed in the Log Cabin for 2 nights. We selected the cabin based off of pictures on their website. It is just as pictured. The cabin consists of 2 rooms plus a bathroom. The main room is a living room'kitchen combo. This room contained a gas fireplace, high ceilings, and had a full size refrigerator with icebox, old-fashioned but functioning oven, microwave, plenty of dishware & glassware, table with 2 chairs, and a comfortable seating area. We were greeted with fresh flowers on the coffee table and gingerbread cookies from the owner's family recipe. They also provided plenty of food for breakfast for two days. In fact, there was so much food variety that we couldn't eat it all. The only thing missing were pancakes. In fact, with the pots & pans and utensils provided, we could have made them ourselves. All we needed was to bring the ingredients. In the living room area, there is a TV, CD & DVD player. There is also a small selection of movies & CDs to choose from. The bedroom has a king-sized bed with comfy linens and has a dresser & closet with iron & ironing board and even a humidifier, if needed. The bathroom was the real treat. Big whirlpool tub for two, another gas fireplace, and separate shower. In addition, the log cabin contains a loft above the living room designed for massage & spa treatments. You just have to call the local spa (info provided) & they come to you.
We enjoyed breakfast on the back porch, enjoyed the scenery (big trees) & were visited by the friendly cats living on the farm. The farm is located 10 minutes outside of Fredericksburg on a beautiful piece of property. During our stay, we visited the main street in town and also several wineries. We had lunch at Fredericksburg Herb Farm, which was fantastic and highly recommended as well. We also had a nice dinner at Navajo Grill, reservations required, attire - casual chic. All in all, a perfectly relaxing and romantic visit to Fredericksburg, TX.

I had a romantic getaway at Palo Alto Creek Farm many years ago. To this day, I re-live the memories of the fabulous Barn. It was an exquisite stay, and though near the main house and the Log Cabin, feels incredibly private.

The creek running at the back of the properly is so serene. Morning walks have little critters scampering about. Deer gather every evening for a gorgeous sunset. Meals in town were memorable as well, but we didn't spend a great deal of time there since we hurried back to the Barn for more heavenly bubble baths in the big jacuzzi tub surrounded by candles. It was simply one of the most relaxing weekends ever.

It felt like we were literally on the edge of the earth with no neighbors, no traffic sounds, no worries.

I'd love to visit again; but it is definitely getting tougher to find a time when the Barn is not booked.

Give this place a try. You'll walk away amazed at how the stress dissolved.

We absolutely loved our stay at the Inn on the Creek! The rooms were clean and spacious and the location was perfect for walking Main Street. The bed in the Admiral Suite was extremely comfortable. We will visit again!

This cozy cabin provided just the relaxation we needed. The living area contained a gas log fireplace, sofa, two reading chairs and a corner hutch with TV. The dining area and small kitchen with a Jenn-Air range was open to the living. Lupe provided the most delicious breakfasts in our fridge to be reheated at our choosing. No vouchers used like some B&B's in Fredericksburg. This farm is 5 miles north of town. The bedroom contains a "hip-high" king size bed. Once in, you don't want to leave. The bathroom contains a deep corner whirlpool tub, a Kiva gas log fireplace and a separate shower. Stain-glass windows are above the tub and hearth. The cabin has both front and rear porches, perfect for your morning coffee or afternoon glass of wine. You can stroll the grounds and view longhorns, donkeys, deer, birds and the resident cats. Peaceful, pastoral perfection. Planning to return.

We certainly appreciate Maurie's taking the time to publish a review for us. We know how blessed we are to have Lupe! She takes such pride in the delicious items she prepares for breakfasts for our guests at Palo Alto Creek Farm. I was fortunate enough to have a nice visit with Maurie and Charles one evening as I was taking down the flags at sunset and they were enjoying a glass of wine on the front porch of The Log Cabin. We are gratified to know that a stay at Palo Alto Creek Farm provided the relaxation that Maurie and Charles were seeking. Our hope is that our guests will go home relaxed, rejuvenated, and planning to return! Thank you, Maurie and James for choosing to stay at Palo Alto Creek Farm.

We stayed in the Log Cabin and were very happy. I loved sitting on the porch swing on the back porch with my coffee each morning. I loved that you could grind your own coffee, and the hazelnut cream coffee was outstanding. I loved that they left you a ton of food for breakfast, and you didn't have to go share breakfast with other people. It was nice to have a quiet breakfast together at our leisure. I loved the fireplace in the bathroom. (Note: the shower is tiny, but it does what it's supposed to do.) I loved that we were in the country, but were close enough to town for dinner and shopping. I loved the peacefulness of the property. We'll definitely go back!

We are so glad that you found your stay in The Log Cabin to be an enjoyable experience. The Log Cabin was the first home built on this property when the Itz family settled here in 1854. The present bedroom and bath were not added until later. We love the history of this cabin and have tried to keep the modern amenities to provide comfort while being sympathetic to its history. We are happy to share this piece of history with others, hoping that the privacy and serenity allows our guests to return home relaxed and rejuvenated. Thank you so much for choosing to stay at Palo Alto Creek Farm and for taking the time to write a review for us!

We had a wonderful stay at Palo Alto Farms. My husband and I have stayed at The Barn and The Log Cabin. We loved both. It is the perfect place for a peaceful romantic getaway. We spent time reading on the porch swing while enjoying the breakfast that was provided each morning. It was just what we needed to recharge. We will be back!

We were coming for an anniversary weekend without the kids an looking to relax. That is what we found. I think quiet is the best word to describe the place. The wrap around screened porch was a perfect place for coffee to start the day. The bed was very comfortable. (Though it is also very high so be careful not to roll off). The food was in the mini fridge and was very tasty. It is a bit out of town, (about 5-10 mins) but that is what makes it so peaceful. I would recommend this to any couple looking to get away.

If you are seeking peaceful, romantic, serene surroundings a short distance from Fredricksburg, this quaint Log Cabin is the place for you! It was for us. You pick up the keys in town at the main office, and return them there as well. Perfect, so no interruptions at the cabin.

Such a cute little romantic cabin. They think of everything. Lots of towels. Refrigerator full of breakfast items like cereal, muffins, egg/sausage burritos, canteloup, grapes, strawberries, oranges, bananas. I love love loved the personal touch with the coffee. There is nothing more than I like fresh coffee beans and a grinder to have the freshest cup possible.

The fireplace in the bathroom was incredibly romantic. Lots of deer early in the mornings and in the evenings. So much privacy. The king size bed absolutely the most comfortable I'd slept in a long long time. Loved the furnishings as well, especially the trunk at the end of the bed. The pictures tell it all. I would definitely come back here.

A stay at Palo Alto Creek Farm is a true escape from the usual pace of everyday life. In an idyllic tranquil setting, the historic buildings are tastefully decorated and restored in such a way to make them comfortable while preserving their historic features. The generous "breakfasts" provided are another highlight of the accommodations - a real treat! We stayed in the Log Cabin and loved it! The surrounding fields with the burros, goats, and longhorns are beautiful. We walked down to the creek, actually caught a few (very small) fish, and birded the property, where feathered friends are plentiful. If you are fortunate enough to visit when the owners are present, it will be an added treat. They are delightful and knowledgeable folks. Our visit was an enjoyable, relaxing getaway and we highly recommend a stay at Palo Alto Creek Farm.
