We stayed here for a week in the heat. We were in a site with no trees but there are sites that have some shade. The sites are fairly close but luckily we had empty spots on either side of us. Everyone that we talked to at the park was very friendly including the staff. The pool was well-maintained and the sites were clean and level. The bath-house was old but fairly clean. We will certainly stay here again if we are in Fredericksburg.
Packed in like sardines. Our site was next to a fence and very hard to back into. Would have been impossible if the gentleman next to us didn't move his car. This is the reason I try to avoid commercial RV parks. We will never go back here.
We just finished a week at Oakwood. We were in the half of the park with trees. Didn't use the pool or bathhouse. But, the laundry was clean and reasonable. Frequent trash pickup was nice. Free cable if you have a cord. Some of the more expensive sites come with a glider, fire pit and firewood. Ours had a picnic table on a slab, which we appreciated. Downside was our site was short and very narrow. When sitting at our table, we could touch the neighbor's rv. Barely had room for tv parking to be off the road. Also, entrance by office needs to be reworked. Extremely narrow. Not possible for big rigs to come and go at the same time and you must stop in the entrance lane to check in at the office. May stay here again in the future if able to get a larger spot.
We stayed for 2 nights. The staff was very nice and helpful when reserving. The RV park is very nice with lots of amenities. Pool, hot tub, playground, close to shopping, restaurants and bars. The only reason I gave only 4 out of 5 stars is because our camper is 35 feet long with 3 slides and the spots are somewhat short (not much room for pull vehicle to park close to our camper). Since we were there in January we weren’t crowded but I could see this as a problem in the spring and summer. Otherwise this is a great park.
The staff is helpful and friendly. The park is clean, the pool looks amazing (didn't go in). Its 2.4 miles into Main street, but only a few blocks from the grocery store. My site was on the side, no shade, and SO MUCH STREET NOISE ! I guess the sites on the other side, in the trees, are quieter. But I didn't hear a cricket the entire time. Just dogs, cars on the gravel roads, vehicles on the city road next door, and the business right outside the property line. The sites are the smallest I have ever been in. Extremely narrow. Sewer and water hookup were close and convenient. Ok for a quick stop over, but I won't spend a week here.
Oakwood is a wonderful park and we really enjoyed being out in the country for 2 months. The park was so close to everything! Met some really great people and enjoyed some fun adventures in spite of Covid. The park has a great staff and it is kept very clean. The olympic size pool and hot tub are nice to have access to. It's peaceful and quiet and very much in nature. In fact, there are sheep next door and seeing them everyday is very special and we rarely heard them at all. You can take a walk out back and, on a good day, see cows, chickens, deer, zebras, hawks, peacocks and old historic houses and cabins built by the Germans who settled here many years ago. It's not only the hill country of TX with thousands of acres of oaks, pecan and peach trees, but also the wine country with about 30+ wineries in the area. We had lots of fun here with hikes, flower treks and wine even though most of the time everything was still closed. We would definite come back again to visit.…
Oakwood RV Resort is a super clean facility with a variety of site options. A clean pool and grounds make this a perfect family facility. Super friendly and informative staff make Oakwood RV Resort a perfect spot for a relaxing stay.
We were there to visit the town and hike Enchanted Rock. This campground is very clean. The staff was friendly and helpful. The sites each had nice concrete patio with picnic table. Fenced areas for the dogs to run. Great location for home base while visiting the shops, wineries, etc... The only down side for us was the size of the sites. Our drivers slide was even with the neighbors patio, even though my passenger side tire was touching our patio. Sewer connection was only a couple of feet from out picnic table. See pictures. Overall, if you are there to tour the town and don't plan in hanging out around your trailer, the place is great. Otherwise, it's still good, just a little too cozy for us.
We have stayed at Oakwood several times and the stays get better each time. Office staff is friendly and accommodating, grounds, pool and hot tube are clean and well maintained. This is our choice when in Fredericksburg.
We are on night 3 of 7 and can not be more pleased. Nice, quiet RV park. Bathrooms/ showers are clean! Pool is nice, clean and cool! Absolutely satisfied with our stay! So glad we came here to camp. We will definitely be back.
