The Hangar Hotel is a delightful hotel right on the airport runway and makes an effort to take you back in time. Let's be honest, who really wants to go back to no a/c or cable tv? Be realistic and enjoy the comfortable, clean rooms, ac and cable tv and the nostalgia theme. Don't miss the diner for a good breakfast. The officer's club is a real gem. It has an authentic feel for yester year's time and place. My only complaint about the club is that a large, loud group of people dominated half the bar making it impossible to have a drink and hear the person next to you. As thematic as the club was, they missed the boat by not playing music from the 40's. Instead, the modern rock music was blasting making it even less inviting to sit and soak up the lovely room.
My husband is a pilot so we flew our plane down for a couple days in Fredericksburg. We loved being able to park our plane right in front of the hotel. The room was just what we needed and had the most comfortable leather chairs we have ever sat on. The officers club was a great place to grab a drink & listen to music at the end of the day. The front desk and bartenders were all very nice. We loved sitting out on the balcony and watching the planes.
Great Hotel. Rooms were big. It was clean and the staff friendly. My wife and I spent hours over two days sitting on the observation deck watching planes fly in and out. Te officers club was very sophisticated and they had a well stocked bar. We were unable to make it to the cafe next door. We will be back.
My husband and I just had such an amazing get-away in Fredricksburg at the Hangar Hotel. Everything about the hotel was top notch! We enjoyed the quiet atmosphere, fresh coffee in the morning along with fresh pastries. The Officer's Club was such a relaxing time to sit and read and play a game of pool. Also, Friday and Saturday evenings we enjoyed local musicians playing the piano as we enjoyed Texas style appetizers, beer, drinks and wine. The observation deck was an added bonus as we watched small and larger planes take-off and land. Also, don't forget about The Diner open for breakfast and lunch. Great food!
Worst bed I ever slept in . Hard as a rock. Like sleeping on the ground. No restaurant No breakfast No sleep No bar No toilet paper. Had to go to desk and ask for it. Not enough water bottle d, not enough cups
We were very pleased with our first visit to this hotel. It is decorated with an aviation theme and quiet beautiful! Our room was neat and clean and close to the lobby, which we appreciated. The staff was super friendly and we have booked a return visit in 2022. The scones were a nice touch but we never saw the "juice" was was advertised. We dined at the Airport Diner several times and on the final visit, we were unable to enter back into the main lobby through the Officers' Club entrance. We, along with several other older people, had to walk around to the front entrance to get in. That was very inconvenient to say the least. Our only disappointment was in the Officers' Club where we got drinks. My martini was about 3/4 full and not very tasty at all. I should have taken it back but the bartender was very busy. Honestly, from all the amazing helpful staff, to the smallest detail of their decor this place was AMAZING. Really like stepping back in time! The room was beautiful and the bar was gorgeous! The front desk staff (shout out to Cindy who hooked us up with the best restaurant suggestions EVER) was over and above helpful. They also gave great tips on local wineries. We cannot WAIT to go back and I can honestly say that this hotel was the best part of our stay in Fredericksburg! I really can't say enough good things about this hotel!
Great experience from the moment we walked in and were warmly greeted to checking out. The rooms were clean, comfortable and unique, definitely a must if you love anything vintage. The Officers Club was a great place to relax and chat with friends in Club after a day of wine tasting. Live music that was a nice background touch without interfering with conversation. Drinks were well made and good.
Absolutely spotless! Comfortable bed and pillows. The diner next door is friendly and great food. When they open first thing in the morning, they typically fill up. The cooks are amazing on how fast they put out the food. The fly ins are a plus to watch and talk to pilots. Outstanding!!!
EXTREMELY UPSETTING AND DISAPPOINTING EXPERIENCE. I have stayed at this hotel many times. My family stays here too. Many of them stayed at this hotel last night. But yesterday, after we had been checked and settled into our room in the hotel, I was shocked and appalled as the hotel lobby staff (mainly the two managers in charge NOT the lady who checked us in - she was VERY upset at what the managers were doing to us) threw myself, my husband and my 5 year old child out of the hotel with NO OTHER HOTEL CONTINGENCIES as it was a holiday and it took me weeks of checking just to find this one room alone. They KNEW we were from out of town and had NOWHERE ELSE to stay for the night. I have never in my life experienced this level of callousness and no empathy EVER. Particularly from the hospitality industry!!! I am horrified at what happened to my family!! One of the managers saw me come down the stairs with my 5 year old girl from the observation deck to the lobby (which I PERSONALLY asked the lady who checked us in if that was okay and she said that it was) and ACCOSTED ME in front of half a dozen other hotel guests like I was some kind of criminal shoplifter. She raised her voice at me, pointed her finger rudely at my child and asked if “SHE” was staying with me. To my horror, I said, of course she is, she is my child! This “manager” said they have a STRICT NO PETS NO SMOKING NO CHILDREN RULE and pretty much how dare I violate this rule as though I intentionally knew this rule yet booked a stay here anyways! I have never been so humiliated, esp by a hotel worker IN MY LIFE. My EXTREMELY WELL BEHAVED child was crying bc of this adult’s nasty behavior towards us. I kept asking if this manager was joking because the level of her anger and hostility could not be real, yet she was not. She was extremely hostile and rude in front of other patrons which was EXCEPTIONALLY EMBARRASSING TO ME AND MY CHILD! I had to ask her to please lower her voice and explain to me what was happening. She called over another manager who was not as rude as the first but equally unsympathetic towards the situation. They wanted us gone, IMMEDIATELY. I asked why and they acted like I was an idiot. They said it said in my reservations emails that there is a strict no child policy. I double checked these emails later and THERE IS NO POLICY OF THAT KIND WHATSOVER IN THESE EMAILS!! They also said it is clear on their website. You have to navigate through several links to even find this policy!! I understand these are their rules (I would have never booked this stay had I KNOWN these rules!! And I’ve stayed here several times and have never personally heard of this!!) and while extremely confused, I GRACIOUSLY COMPLIED WITHOUT A SCENE (unlike the managers who made a huge public scene), but the way they handled this massive miscommunication was TERRIBLE. One, they should have understood we had NOWHERE ELSE TO GO as I explained to them MANY TIMES. What should have been (and was up to that point), was a happy 4th of July experience with my husband and daughter, instead we were thrown out of our “fancy” hotel with nowhere to go. So we had to DRIVE BACK HOME. This is HORRIFIC!!! They should have APOLOGIZED TO US for any miscommunication. Instead they acted like we were common criminals, causing my daughter to cry (SHE DID NOTHING WRONG) and cry the rest of the way home and even into bed about this horrendous experience which was completely unnecessary. They could have had us sign a SPECIAL EMERGENCY WAIVER for this exact situation or even put down a bigger deposit. They should absolutely NOT have thrown us out UNTIL THEY FOUND REASONABLE ACCOMMODATIONS FOR US!! Lastly, for our inconvenience and customer service alone, they should have offered a voucher or SOMETHING for the next time. I understand there is a no child policy AND I RESPECT THAT, but MOST PEOPLE assume their child is automatically welcome at all hotels unless it is SPECIFICALLY AN ADULTS ONLY RESORT like Sandals. There was NO COMMUNICATION ABOUT THIS POLICY, except buried in the hotel website and both managers LIED when they said I “knew” of this at the time of booking (NO I DID NOT) and should have further known when I received the emails (THERE IS NO NOTICE ABOUT THIS WHATSOEVER IN THE EMAILS). I am so embarrassed and humiliated over this HIGHLY UNNECESSARY EXPERIENCE by a hotel no less whose reputation is that of going above and beyond for its customers. I have only ever sung it’s praises. THIS WAS SICK TO DO TO AN OUT OF TOWN FAMILY ON A HOLIDAY NIGHT. Appalling!!!! I am simply shocked and stunned at the level of callousness and uncaring received. There is a RIGHT WAY TO HANDLE BAD SITUATIONS and a WRONG WAY. This was absolutely the WRONG WAY.…
